at the
NBC Fall Preview Party

Janel Moloney "The West Wing"

NBCLive: What do you enjoy doing on your time off from work?

Janel Moloney: I enjoy doing Yoga, walking, reading and regular stuff like hanging out.

NBCLive: Do you have any charitable work that you support and/or are involved in?

Janel Moloney: Yes. I tutor someone for an organization called Voices in Harmony, which is a sort of grass roots Los Angeles organization run by Melissa Fitzgerald (who also works on "The West Wing") and itıs a mentoring program. I tutor for them.

NBCLive: If all your career dreams comes true, what would you have accomplished upon reaching your retirement?

Janel Moloney: It evolves. If I keep getting to work with really talented people and get to do material that I love as an actress, that would be exciting. I also have this fantasy of writing, as I get older. Writing novels, wearing shawls and aging gracefully.

NBCLive: What is your favorite meal to cook?

Janel Moloney: I love baking! Iım a big baker. I like making cakes and cookies. My momıs a great baker and I like baking with her. Iım usually her assistant.

NBCLive: Do you bake birthday cakes?

Janel Moloney: No, mostly breads, like quick breads. Not real breads. I canıt get into yeast and rising. Just cookies and stuff. I love cooking for the holidays and I cook meals for myself every day.

Bradley Whitford "The West Wing"

NBCLive: What do you find the most challenging aspect of being an actor?

Bradley Whitford: On this particular job ("The West Wing") it is just the volume of memorizing and the hours are very intense. The better something is written and the better it is cast, the easier it is to act. So, often the shows that you get that are the most successful are actually the easiest ones to do. On this show, the actual acting isnıt difficult, itıs just the technical stuff.

NBCLive: What's the most embarrassing thing that has happened during the taping of a show?

Bradley Whitford: My wife is also an actress (the woman on "Malcolm in the Middle"). She was taping a show where she was playing the mother of college kids and they had to stop taping the show because her milk came in. She actually had to change her dress. Thankfully, my milk has never come in.

NBCLive: Did you have to do any special research for this role?

Bradley Whitford: Yeah. I read a lot of books about Washington and talked with friends who worked in Washington. We have incredible technical advisors who actually worked in the White House. Pat Cadel, Lawrence O'Donnel, and Dede Meyers. I talk to them a lot and I memorize lines and try to make people like me.
