Part 11

Chapter One

- The Next Day

Setting: Wildwind Mansion

(Robin opens the door to Wildwind Mansion and quietly steps in. She can hear Alex and Edmund discussing her luncheon in the foyer. She laughs slightly. They have talked about this luncheon through and through. There was no more to discuss!! Alex's head pops up when Robin enters the room.)

Alex: ROBIN!! I am so glad that you are here!! (Runs over to her) Can you tell Edmund that I don't have to wear a dress to this luncheon?

Robin: A dress?

Edmund: I didn't say that she HAD to wear a dress, I just thought in my own personal opinion that a dress would be nice.

Robin: It could be. BUT, a pants suit could be fine too.

(Alex smirks toward Edmund.)

Robin: It really is up to you.

Alex: Thank you, Robin!! (Wraps her arm around Robin's shoulder) See this is why I like having you here. You understand me.

(Robin looks down then back up at Alex.)

Robin: I'm glad you said that… because I decided to stay in Pine Valley.

Alex (excited): ROBIN!! You did??

(Edmund jumps off the couch and runs toward her.)

Edmund: That's the best news we heard in a long time. Sam and Maddie are going to be thrilled.

Robin (smiles): I'm glad. I'm partly doing this because of them and you guys. Everyone here has been so great to me. Pine Valley has really begun to feel like a home to me.

Alex (tearfully): Oh Robin, that is so great to hear. When did you decide this?

Robin: I've been thinking about it for a while, but I made the official decision last night.

Alex: Are you sure about this? I wouldn't want you to feel pressured and most importantly, I wouldn't want to see you give up your education to live with us.

Robin: Then, don't worry!! I have only one semester left at the Sorbonne and when I returned in fall, I was suppose to intern at a hospital anyway. So, I spoke to Joe and he contacted my counselor at the Sorbonne. They worked out some deal that more or less consists of me working at the Cindy Chandler foundation full-time under his supervision.

Edmund: And you still get your degree?

Robin: And I still get my degree from the Sorbonne.

Alex (excited): Oh Robin!! That is amazing - absolutely the best news I've heard in months!!

(Alex grabs Robin and hugs her tightly. She pulls away and looks at Robin.)

Alex: We have to celebrate!!

Edmund: YES!! A party!!

Robin (smirks): A party?

Edmund: Yes, at the house. We could invite your Uncle and Felicia, Ryan, Scott, Becca, Jake, and Gillian - of course. We could invite the world if you want.

Robin: I think I'd settle for just our small corner of it.

Edmund: Then our corner it will be. (Looks at Alex) Alex, let's plan!!

Alex (laughs): I'll meet you in the garden.

(Robin laughs as she watches Edmund leave then turns toward Alex.)

Robin: Is this really okay?

Alex: Robin, this is more than okay - this is wonderful. Having you here, seeing you everyday…. oh Robin, this is just the best.

(Robin takes Alex's hand and leads her toward the small couch in the center of the room.)

Robin: You've made this a home for me.

Alex: You're my cousin; I had to.

Robin (shakes her head): No, you didn't. (Smiles tearfully) You could've let me stay for the summer, show me some of the sights, and maybe go shopping with me once or twice. But you made this into a real family. You listened to me; you confided in me, you let me confide in you. Alex, you became so much more than a cousin to me.

(Alex looks down and quickly blinks away the tears that are forming in her eyes.)

Robin (tearfully): You gave me back something that I thought I lost forever. You gave me a piece of my mother back, Alex, and I can never thank you enough for that.

Alex (looks up at Robin): Oh Robin, you had Anna in you all along. You look more like her than I do and you sound like her more than I do. (Robin laughs) Okay - maybe not the voice, but the words, the phrases - you are all Anna. You are Anna Devane's perfect beautiful little girl.

(Robin looks down tearfully and wipes her eyes.)

Alex: But, you're not so little anymore, are you?

(Robin looks up smiling and Alex wipes her eyes.)

Alex: I missed so much time with you.

Robin: We could make up for it now. I think mom would like that. (Smiles) I think mom would love that.

Alex (smiles tearfully): You think so?

Robin: I know so.

Chapter Two

Updated: 9/30/2000

- Later that Afternoon

Setting: McKay's Diner

(Robin walks into McKay's and smiles at the sight of Brooke waiting for her patiently while skimming through the menu. She quickly walks over to the empty booth and slides in causing Brooke to look up.)

Robin: I hope I didn't make you wait long.

Brooke (putting the menu down): Oh please!! Anyway, you are helping me, remember?

Robin: Helping with my cousin's luncheon is no chore, believe me. I'm happy to do this.

Brooke (laughs): Let's see how long you say that after I give you your duties.

(Robin laughs as Brooke digs into her bag and takes out a manilla folder. She quickly reaches across the table and hands it to Robin.)

Brooke: In there, you'll find a copy of the latest guest list, menu, and whatever else you may need.

Robin (skimming it): Okay. Um, the flowers will be delivered tomorrow at noon?

Brooke: Per Aunt Phoebe's stern instructions.

Robin (nods): Good. And Gillian is going to the bakery tonight to check on the cake again.

Brooke: Sounds good.

Robin: And Ryan is making sure Scott is ready with his cameras for WRCW.

Brooke: I still cannot believe this is going to be my debut on the "Cutting Edge." And I still cannot believe that I get to thank you for that.

Robin: You and Tad have chemistry.

Brooke: Well, I hope so - we will be live tomorrow.

Robin: Tad Martin and live TV - this should be good.

Brooke (smirks): It'll be riveting.

(Just as Robin's about to respond, a shadow forms above them. They look up and see Erica Kane smirking back at them.)

Erica: Planning Alex's "little" get together?

(Robin looks a little taken back as Brooke shakes her head.)

Robin: Excuse me?

Brooke: Robin, you haven't had the pleasure yet - Robin Scorpio, this is the unforgettable Erica Kane.

Erica (extends her hand): You can call me Erica.

Robin (smiles): Erica.

(Erica lets go of Robin's hand and quickly scoots next to her in the booth.)

Erica: I've been in Seattle visiting my daughter, Bianca, so I haven't been as vocal as usual in the society brunch.

Brooke (looking down): Thank goodness.

Erica (looking up): Excuse me, Brooke?

Brooke (smiles): Just clearing my throat.

Erica: Right. (looks at Robin) I saw Becca at the Glamorama and she told me all about you.

Robin (smiles): Really?

Erica: All the good stuff, of course. (Smiles) You know, Ryan and I go way back.

Brooke (laughs): Oh yes!! WAY!!

Erica (ignoring her): Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I held this honor many times in the past, so if you have any questions you could ask away.

Robin (awkwardly): Uh - my cousin Alex is actually winning the award.

Erica: Because I was in Seattle, of course.

Brooke: Actually because you did nothing worth honoring this year.

(Erica shoots Brooke a look as Robin debates if she should say something.)

Erica: Should I get out my list?

Brooke: Simply being Erica Kane does not garner an award.

Erica: Depends on who you ask.

Brooke (looks away): Well, it wasn't the voting committee.

(Erica nods her head and looks back at Robin.)

Erica: The offer's still on the table, Robin.

Robin: Thank you, but I think I'll be okay.

Erica: Okay - if you change your mind, Ryan has my number. (looks at Brooke) Brooke.

(With that, Erica stands up and walks over to another table as Robin looks over at Brooke confused.)

Robin: What was that about?

Brooke: Erica likes you.

Robin: Me? How do you know that?

Brooke: Believe me, I know Erica Kane.

(Robin smiles as Brooke fidgets with the menu again.)

Robin: Don't be so nervous. Believe me, you'll be a natural.

Brooke: I hope so. For my whole adult life, I was told that my written word could move mountains. I don't think my spoken will be able to.

Robin: Who said anything about moving mountains? (smirks) For now, just focus on moving Pine Valley - and that you can definitely do.

(Brooke smiles and laughs a bit. Robin did have a point.)
