Chapter One
- The Next Day
Setting: McKay’s Diner
(Robin walks in and looks for Ryan. He said to meet him here for lunch. She peaks around the booths, but doesn’t see him and sits down at the closest booth to the door. Ryan rushes in then stops at the sight of Robin fumbling with her hands. She was so beautiful. Robin slowly looks up and smiles toward him. He pops out of his daze and sits down across from her.)
Ryan: Waiting long?
Robin: Not at all.
Ryan: Good. Sorry about that. Things are crazy at the station.
Robin: How crazy?
Ryan (sighs): Crazy. Tad wants to make his show national and I’ve been assigned to pitch it to other states.
Robin (concerned): Are you leaving Pine Valley?
Ryan (taken back): No, but I will be doing some travel. (Smiles) It’s nice of you to ask, though.
Robin (embarrassed): It was? I wasn’t too forward?
Ryan: Not at all. I think I’m the forward one.
Robin (laughs): Why would you say that?
Ryan: Because of what I’m about to ask. (Takes a deep breath) Can I be your escort to Dimitri’s ball?
(Robin immediately blushes and smiles.)
Robin: I didn’t think you would ask.
Ryan: Don’t tell me - someone else beat me to it?
(Robin shakes her head.)
Robin: No. I just thought you wouldn’t.
Ryan: Why?
Robin (shyly): I don’t know.
Ryan (smirks): Well, did you imagine your answer IF I did?
Robin (smirks): Maybe.
Ryan: Well? Don’t leave me hanging.
Robin (smiles): Yes, I’d love to be your escort to the ball.
Ryan (smiles): Good. (Calms down a bit) So, are you excited?
Robin: A little. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a formal occasion.
Ryan: I know what you mean. I think I have to literally dust off my tux.
Robin: At least you could just wear the same ol’ thing. I had to buy a WHOLE new gown.
Ryan: Wanna give me some clues?
Robin: About my dress? No way!!
(Ryan sits back in his chair and shrugs his shoulders.)
Ryan: I tried.
Robin (laughs): That you did - you tried.
(Ryan laughs as Robin shakes her head. The charity ball should be fun.)
Chapter Two
Updated: 2/05/2000
Setting: Luke’s Club
(Felicia runs in holding a stack of papers and folders. Luke looks up from the bar and shakes his head at the sight of all the paper in her hands. Felicia throws the stack on the bar resulting in a LOUD thump.)
Luke: You know that you’re going about this in all the wrong ways?
Felicia (breathlessly): Then, what do you suggest?
Luke: We just sit back and watch the cards fall into place.
Felicia: And while you’re watching, Robin could get hurt.
Luke: Are you really that worried about her?
Felicia (upset): Luke, you saw the picture of that Alexandra Marick. If she’s not someone trying to trap Robin, then I don’t know who she is.
Luke: I think you’ve been around me for too long.
Felicia: Meaning?
Luke: You’re just as paranoid.
Felicia: Worry is not paranoia. I can’t let anything happen to her. I lost Mac. I can’t lose her too.
Luke: Speaking of Bubba, any word on when he’s coming home?
Felicia (sadly): He called Maxie and told her that he was still busy.
Luke: Doesn’t he call Robin?
Felicia: He does, but he can’t lie to her and he doesn’t want her to worry about him.
Luke: So, he hasn’t spoken to her since he left Port Charles?
Felicia: I don’t think so. He probably just writes.
Luke: And her letters would get forwarded to PV. He has no idea that she left Paris probably.
Chapter Three
Setting: Sonny’s Penthouse
(Sonny is sitting at his desk reading through his folders. Benny opens the door and cautiously sticks his head in. Sonny waves him in then slowly looks up.)
Sonny: Anything?
Benny: We narrowed it down to Pennsylvania.
Sonny: Why is Robin in Pennsylvania?
Benny: We don’t know that much. We are getting closer, Boss.
Sonny: Good. Keep going. I need to know what’s going on.
Benny: And when you do?
Sonny: That remains to be seen.
Chapter Four
Setting: Robin’s Room at Wildwind
(Robin looks around her room and smiles. This is home to her now. These four walls symbolize peace to her now. She throws her purse down and sits down at her desk. She glances at the calendar and sees her hand drawn stars showing that tomorrow was Dimitri’s Charity Ball. Time has flown by so fast. She cannot believe that she has already been in Pine Valley for over a month. Before she knew it, fourth of July would be approaching. Robin finds herself smiling with anticipation. It’s nice to not know what was ahead and even a little exciting. Yes, Robin Scorpio liked excitement as much as the next person. In fact, her genes demanded some in her life. This time, she just wanted the good kind. After a few minutes of thought, Robin walks over to her draw and takes out a box that was tucked snugly in the back. She looks at it sadly and sighs. It truly was time to move on and she couldn’t with this here. She walks over to the closet and takes out a shipping box. She quickly stuffs the metallic box into the cardboard shipping box. Robin sighs a bit and writes a quick note then addresses the box to Felicia. Robin tapes the box shut, then glances at the clock. It could go out tomorrow. Robin places the box next to the door then looks up when she hears a knocking on it.)
Robin: Come in.
(Edmund slowly opens the door and smiles at Robin.)
Robin: Hey Edmund.
Edmund: I thought I saw your car pull in. (Clears his throat) So, I heard you found an escort for the Ball.
Robin: Gillian told you.
Edmund: Maybe. She’s just happy for you both. So, are you excited?
Robin: Very.
Edmund: Good. Well, there was a reason I came up here and it was not to intrude on your love life.
(Robin laughs as Edmund sits down across from her.)
Edmund: I don’t even think this should be necessary, but I wanted to make sure you knew that there were two seats reserved for you at the main Marick table.
Robin: I could just sit in a guest table.
Edmund: So, I guess this was necessary. (He takes her hand) Robin, you are a part of this family now. Alex would want you there with her, not to mention Gillian and Eugenia.
Robin: It’s going to be crowded enough with Mateo, Hayley, Peggy, Eugenia, Gillian, Jake, you, and Alex.
Edmund: Then, we’ll get a bigger table. Believe me, Robin, this is one thing I do not mind doing. It feels good to actually have some family at the table this year.
Robin: Only if you don’t mind.
Edmund: I would only mind if you didn’t.
Robin (smiles): Okay. I’ll sit at the Marick table.
Edmund (smiles): I knew being a journalist would pay off at some point.
(Robin laughs with Edmund. He really grew to admire the young woman sitting in front of him. She was smart, beautiful, and had a witty sense of humor. She had all the best qualities of Alex while being still gentle enough to not have her rigidity. That was one of the first things he noticed about her. Robin was definitely a Devane.)
