Chapter 29

Sonny and Jason lurked about the emergency room trying to be inconspicuous as they watched Tony, Bobbie and several other doctors and nurses bustle around preparing for the wounded to arrive. They all turned to look as the three ambulances screeched to a halt outside. The paramedics raced around to the back and began unloading passengers. Alexandra came first as she was the most critical. As the EMTs pulled the gurney out, Monica and Anna jumped out of the ambulance. The two women ran alongside the stretcher as they rushed inside the hospital. Monica didn’t stop for anyone but called out for Bobbie and Dr. Thornhart to follow as she directed them back to one of the exam rooms.

Dimitri came next and Tony immediately took over his care. Sean was still by Dimitri’s side at Anna’s request. Robert was wheeled in next. He was sitting up on the stretcher but looked slightly green from the ride to the hospital. Robin stuck close to him, holding his hand. To Sonny and Jason’s relief she appeared shaken but unscathed. Robin didn’t notice them; her attention was focused on her father as Alan commandeered a nurse and herded them back into one of the rooms. Luke, Parker and a limping Frisco brought up the rear. Jason’s frown deepened when he saw Parker. Sonny’s eyes narrowed as he studied the young agent. So this is the competition, he thought. Doesn’t really look like Robin’s type. Too clean cut.

To Jason’s dismay, both Luke and Parker spotted them almost immediately. Parker started toward them, but Luke caught his arm. He leaned over to whisper something to the younger man then walked to where Sonny and Jason were standing.

"What’s up boys? Somebody take another shot at you?"

"No. We heard about the shooting at the Scorpios," Sonny answered. "We just wanted to make sure Robin was all right."

"Well, as I’m sure you just saw, Robin’s fine. You’re excused," Luke said coldly. Jason immediately got defensive.

"Since when did you become Robin’s keeper?"

"Since you resigned from the job." Both Jason and Sonny floundered under Luke’s steady gaze. "In case you haven’t noticed, Robin doesn’t need a keeper. And she doesn’t need to deal with you two right now. If you won’t leave the hospital, at least stay out of her sight." With that parting shot, Luke walked back to where Frisco and Parker stood scowling. Sonny noticed the police officers that were beginning to file into the emergency room. He decided it would be best if he and Jason stayed out of the way for the time being. Robin obviously didn’t need their protection.

Anna followed the paramedics as they pushed her sister into the exam room. The doctors quickly and carefully pulled Alexandra off of the gurney onto the bed. Anna watched helplessly as the cut Alex’s clothes off and began working on her. There seemed to be a swarm of doctors and nurses all doing something different. Anna hung back, wrapping her arms around herself. She couldn’t take her eyes off Alexandra’s face; it was so pale it was almost translucent. Anna was so frightened that she couldn’t think clearly, couldn’t force herself to move or speak. She listened in confusion as Monica rattled of a list of tests and orders to the various staff.

"Page Dr. Greenman then call upstairs and tell them to have an OR standing by. Type and cross match for 4 units of blood and have 4 more units of O negative blood standing by. Hang a litre of D5W with Lactated Ringers at 200cc/hr. Get her volume up. What’re her vitals?"

"BP is 80 palpable. Pulse is 140. Respirations are 12 and shallow. Lung sounds are diminished on the right side. I don’t think she’s going to last long without a ventilator," one of the doctors answered. Dr. Thornhart lifted the bandages off of the gunshot wound and swore.

"Oh my God, what a mess!" Monica ignored him and continued barking orders.

"Bobbie, start a large bore IV for the blood. Get an endotracheal tube in here and we’ll entubate. Let’s get her stabilized and up to surgery, folks. Come on." Monica noticed that Anna had followed them into the room. "Anna, you’ll have to wait outside." Anna continued to stare at her sister’s face. "Anna!" Monica repeated loudly, causing the other woman to jump. "You need to wait outside."

"But I want to be with her," Anna protested.

"I’ll stay with her," Bobbie said with a reassuring smile. "You can come back to see her in a little while. Let us help Alexandra right now." Anna numbly backed out into the hall. Doctors and nurses kept brushing past her as they hurried in and out of the room. A hand fell on her shoulder startling her. She spun around to see Sean.

"Whoa! It’s just me. How is she?" he asked with a nod toward Alexandra.

"I don’t know yet. Why aren’t you with Dimitri?"

"They kicked me out. They’re sending him for a bunch of tests. Mind if I wait with you?" Anna briefly hugged him, then turned back to watch the doctors work on her sister. Sean put an arm around her shoulders. She leaned against him, grateful for his support. After what seemed like an eternity Monica came out to speak to them.

"How is she?" Anna demanded. Monica sighed.

"We’re doing everything we can but her condition is critical. She’s lost a lot of blood and we’re trying to stabilize her now. As soon as she’s stable, she’ll need surgery to repair the damage to her lung and chest. We’ve put her on a ventilator to help her breathe. The rest of the machines you see are monitors or equipment that will increase her chance of survival."

"Is she going to die?"

"I don’t know, Anna. A lot of it depends on Alexandra’s will to live."

"Who is this Dr. Greenman?"

"Dr. Marshall Greenman. He’s our best thoracic surgeon, Anna. She’ll be in good hands."

"You mean you’re not going to do the surgery?"

"No. Your sister’s lung was badly damaged. That’s not my field of expertise. Dr. Greenman is an excellent surgeon. He’s one of the best in the field, Anna. You don’t have to worry."

"I just – I just thought you would do the surgery."

"Well, I’m going to be in there, too. It doesn’t appear the bullet damaged Alexandra’s heart but I should be there just in case." Anna nodded absently. She turned her attention back to Alex. It was so hard for her, knowing there was nothing she could do to help. Sean and Monica shared a long look that spoke volumes. He realized that she was trying to be optimistic for Anna’s sake but really had little hope for Alex’s survival. Monica touched Anna’s arm to get her attention.

"Anna, is there someone we should call for you?"

"Robert and Robin are here," Anna said.

"I meant someone for your sister. Does she have any family? Other than you, I mean," Monica corrected herself quickly. Anna covered her mouth with her hand and closed her eyes.

"Oh God. Edmund. I didn’t think…"

"Who’s Edmund?"

"Dimitri’s brother," Sean said. At Monica’s puzzled look, he explained, "Dimitri is Alexandra’s husband. He was shot – "

"In the back," Monica concluded. "Do you have his number? I’ll have someone call him."

"I’ll do it," Sean answered.

"No. I’ll call him," Anna replied, turning away again.

"Anna…honey, I think you’ve had enough for one day. You concentrate on Alex and let me handle Edmund." She resisted causing Sean to frown at the stubborn look on her face. Then she sighed and he felt her body sag against him. He leaned over to kiss her cheek.

"I’ll be back in a few minutes. Will you be okay by yourself?" Anna waved him away irritably making a small grin appear on Sean’s face before he left.

"Anna? If you want you can come back in. We’re still monitoring her condition but you could come stay with her, hold her hand. Maybe you want to talk to her?" Monica suggested subtly. Anna didn’t miss the hint. Frisco had said the same thing more directly at the house: talk to Alexandra now before she lost the opportunity forever. She let Monica lead her to Alex’s bedside.

Alan peeled the bandages off of Robert’s shoulder and began poking around the wound. Robert gritted his teeth against the pain. Robin winced in sympathy as the nurse moved her aside to start an IV. Frisco hovered by the door watching. As he caught Robin’s eye, he winked. Robin smiled in return. Frisco was shifting from one foot to the other trying to find a comfortable position. Alan noticed him dancing around; he turned to address the nurse.

"Christy, can you take Mr. Jones here to the empty room next door? Frisco. I’ll be over in a few minutes to check you out."

"That’s not necessary," Frisco said as he quickly straightened up. Robin and Robert smirked as Robin mouthed "macho man" to her father. Robert began to chuckle but stopped and grabbed his shoulder.

"Quit being an ass, Frisco," he said. Robin giggled while Alan hid a smile. Frisco looked annoyed.

"You know, that joke lost its charm about half an hour ago."

"No, it really didn’t," Alan muttered.

"Quit being a baby," Robert said, trying to sound parental.

"Hey, I’m not the one who barfed in the ambulance!" Frisco retorted. Robert’s smug grin instantly turned into a scowl. Robin and Alan shook their heads at the childish argument.

"That’s different," Robert said angrily. Frisco snorted in reply. Robin intervened to soothe their bruised egos.

"It could have happened to anybody," she said as she took Robert’s hand again.

"It doesn’t happen to me," her father sulked.

"Robin’s right. Besides, you’re not a young man anymore. Your body can’t just bounce back from a shock like that anymore." Robin bit her lip and her eyes widened at Alan’s comments. She looked expectantly at her father to catch his reaction. Instead of getting defensive, Robert simply slouched down on the gurney to pout. She ducked her head to hide a small smile. Across the room, Frisco smirked until the nurse came to tap him on the arm.

"Mr. Jones? Right this way." He reluctantly let her lead him out of the room.

"Well, I want to get some x-rays, but I think the bullet went through cleanly. I’ll send someone in to take you down there." Robert thanked Alan before the doctor left, then squeezed Robin’s hand.

"How are you doing?" he asked.

"Better now that I know for sure you’re okay." Robert studied his daughter’s face.

"Got a headache?"

"No," she lied. In reality her head had been pounding since the shooting started. Plus her ears were throbbing from being so close to the gunfire. She didn’t fool Robert for a second.

"You don’t have to stay, you know? You can go home to the twins."

"Felicia, Maxie and Georgie are taking care of them. They’ll be fine."

"Robin – "

"I want to stay." Robert sighed. His daughter definitely inherited her mother’s stubbornness.

"Just don’t overdue it. You’ve had a rough couple of days."

"I’m fine. Really," she insisted. An orderly entered the room with a wheelchair and announced that he needed to take Robert to radiology.

"In that case, why don’t you go check on your mother," Robert said to Robin. "I suspect I’m going to be gone for a while and I don’t want her to be alone. You can give me a full report when I get back." Robin grinned.

"Yes, sir," she said with a little salute. Robert grinned.

"Wiseass."

"I think it’s an inherited trait," Robin returned. She gave him a peck on the cheek before helping him into the waiting wheelchair. He waved with his good hand as he was wheeled out of the room. Robin let out a shaky sigh then went to find her mother.

Amy smiled brightly at Frisco as she entered the exam room. He was standing next to the examining table in obvious discomfort.

"Hey, Frisco. Nice to see you again." Frisco eyed her skeptically.

"What do want, Amy? Gossip?" Amy’s smile broadened.

"Nooooo. I came to examine you." Frisco’s look of horror tickled her but she managed to keep herself from laughing. "Drop your pants please," she said sweetly.

"Take a hike, Amy. I’m not falling for it."

"Now, Frisco. I am a nurse. Remember? Now drop your pants."

"Not a chance in hell," he shot back. He stubbornly planted his hands on his hips.

"What’s going on in here?" Tony asked as he walked in. "Is my brother giving you a hard time, Amy?" Amy crossed her arms and smirked. She knew there were only three people in the world who could make Frisco do something he didn’t want to do: Felicia, Anna and Tony.

"She is not looking at my ass, Tony!" Frisco hissed as he pointed toward the nurse. Tony chuckled.

"So that’s what happened. I was worried it was something serious. Since when is the – what did your buddies call you in high school – the "Master of Mooning," was it? Since when are you afraid to bare your buns to anyone?"

"That was a long time ago!" Frisco replied angrily. Tony grinned at his brother’s embarrassment.

"So can I take a look?"

"Do you have to?"

"No." Frisco replied as he threw a triumph smirk in Amy’s direction. "Amy can always do it," Tony smiled. Frisco opened his mouth to say something, then quickly closed it. He looked from his brother to Amy in exasperation before sighing in disgust.

"Fine," he finally said through clenched teeth. Amy flounced out of the room with a laugh as Tony tried to hide his own amusement.

"Okay, little brother, drop your drawers."

Robin paced the hallway anxiously. She checked her watch again. Her father had gone for X-rays almost 20 minutes ago and still hadn’t returned. He head was pounding but she couldn’t take her medication until she knew if her aunt would survive. It would make her too sleepy and her mother would need her if Alexandra died. She wondered if she should ask Alan for some aspirin when he returned thinking it might help at least dull the pain.

Robin felt claustrophobia setting in. She peeked through the window of the exam room again. Her mother was still standing next to Alexandra’s bed holding her hand while Bobbie rubbed Anna’s back comfortingly. Monica and another doctor seemed to be explaining Alex’s condition because Anna kept nodding her head but never took her eyes off of her sister.

Robin could see that Alexandra was hooked up to a ventilator and several IVs. It gave her chills to look at her aunt; Alexandra looked so much like Anna that it wasn’t hard for Robin to imagine that it was her mother lying there gravely injured. Robin watched sadly for a moment, then had to look away with a shiver. She knew what it was like to lose a sibling. Even though she had never known Andrew, she felt his loss every day. Robin closed her eyes as a particularly sharp pain shot through her head.

"Robin?" She jumped at the sound of his voice and spun around to face him. "Are you okay?" As she stared at Jason, she wondered what he could possibly want. Then it hit her: he saw the news and was worried about their daughters. He’s probably overwhelmed with joy. What a perfect excuse to try and take them away. Even he doesn’t have people shooting at his home on a regular basis, she thought bitterly.

"They’re fine, Jason. I would never let anyone hurt my children."

"Robin – "

"They’re not here if that’s what you’re after." She turned away, missing his hurt look. He sighed, running his hand through his hair. He hated the cold look in her eyes. He studied her profile. She looked tired and pale and infinitely sad. He wanted nothing more than to take her in his arms and make it all go away but he knew he couldn’t.

"I know the girls are okay. You would have told me if they weren’t," he said quietly.

"What’s makes you think that?" she asked without looking at him.

"Because I know you. Robin, I know you tried to tell me about them before. Yesterday I was just– "

"I really don’t have time for this right now, Jason." She closed her eyes and rubbed her temple as if she were in pain. Jason, remembering the information Benny sent about Robin’s attack, was concerned by the gesture.

"Robin, what's wrong?" She rounded on him, incredulous.

"What’s wrong? Gee, Jason, nothing’s wrong. Everything’s fine and dandy. Someone just shot up my home, hurt my father and may have killed my aunt! What could possibly be wrong?" He looked away trying to control his own anger. "Now if you’ll excuse me, my mother needs me. You’ll have to yell at me some other time," she said as she pushed open the door.

"Wait!" Jason’s hand shot out to stop her and Robin flinched. Jason held both hands up in an attempt to show her that he meant no harm. "Robin – "

His voice was drowned out by the high pitched beeping coming from the room. Robin stared in horror as the medical personnel swung into action while the long sustained beep continued. She looked at the monitor by the bed and saw the flat line on the screen. Monica pushed Anna aside as she called out orders. Robin raced to her mother’s side. Jason watched as the two women clung to each other. Then, realizing that he was intruding on something intensely private, he turned away. He leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes. He said a silent, clumsy prayer that Alexandra would survive, if only for Robin’s sake.

Chapter 30

Mac looked around what was left of his kitchen. He couldn’t believe how much had happened in the past few days. First Robert, Anna and Robin come home. Then Faison slaughters half of their protection. Then we find out about Avery. And now this…nightmare. He looked around again at the overturned chairs, bullet holes, broken glass and the three bloodstains on the floor. Oh, and let’s not forget Alexandra. Mac shook his head. Although Robert told him about Anna’s twin sister, actually seeing her had been a shock. Alex looked so much like Anna, that seeing her lying so still covered in blood had completely unsettled him. Mac reminded himself to apologize to Anna for his behavior that night at the Outback.

"Commissioner?" Mac flinched at the sound of Taggert’s voice. He turned to face the detective.

"Are you guys about finished?" Mac asked as he tried to shift gears from worried father, husband, brother and uncle to police commissioner.

"Yeah. There’s not a lot of evidence to find. Guy had no ID on him. Looks like a professional. Might be able to trace the rifle but I doubt it." Mac nodded grimly as Taggert hesitated. "Mac…we’re going to need to get statements from Felicia and everyone else who was here."

"It can wait until tomorrow," Mac replied brusquely. He walked to the door and watched as the sniper’s body was loaded onto a waiting ambulance.

"With all due respect, sir, we need to take statements as soon as possible. You know as well as I do that people start forgetting details after even a short amount of time." Mac turned to stare at him coldly.

"Three people were shot here today, Taggert. And at least one of them may die. I don’t think any of us will forget that any time soon." The detective searched for the right words to break through Mac’s anger.

"I understand that this is personal, but – "

"I said no!" Mac snapped. He sighed. He didn’t mean to take out his frustration on his men. They were only doing their jobs. "Look we both know that we’re not going to find anything to implicate the person who’s really to blame for this. We’ve got more important things to worry about today." Taggert reluctantly agreed.

"Do you want us to haul Faison in for questioning?"

"God, no! I don’t think I could stop myself from killing him with my bare hands today." Marcus Taggert smiled thinking, you and half the rest of the force. Robert and Anna were still legends at the PCPD and Robin had practically grown up at the station.

"Yeah. Well, between this and the incident at the lodge the other day, you might have to wait in line. Why don’t you go spend some time with your family. We’ll finish up and clean up as best we can."

"You don’t have to do that," Mac protested. Taggert shrugged.

"Hey, it no big deal. Your girls shouldn’t have to see this." Mac felt the emotions of the day come crashing down on him. He mumbled his thanks and shook Taggert’s hand before heading upstairs.

Parker sat rigidly in the waiting area. He was trying not to squirm in the uncomfortable plastic chair and under the uncomfortable blatantly obvious stare of the man beside him. In some strange, unorthodox way, Luke Spencer reminded him of Robert Scorpio. Both men had an innate arrogance and an in-your-face attitude. While those two things alone weren’t enough to put Parker on edge, the fact that neither man seemed to trust him – let alone like him– was unnerving.

Parker resisted the urge to check his watch again, aware of the Luke’s close scrutiny of his every move. Parker was starting to feel like he was five years old again, being picked on by his older brothers. That thought made him angry enough to return Luke’s stare.

"What?" he demanded. Luke didn’t answer but kept staring. "Do I have something on me?"

"Who the hell are you?" Luke asked blandly. Oh great. Small talk, Parker thought sarcastically. He decided not to play along. He crossed his arms as Luke had done but couldn’t force himself to relax enough to slouch down in his seat.

"What’s it to you?" he asked, trying to sound as bored as Luke. He immediately suspected that the older man could see right through his act because Luke continued to evenly return his gaze. Luke’s patience won out. "Special Agent Owen Parker," Parker spat. He held out a hand to Luke who looked at it then rolled his eyes.

"What’s your interest in little Miss Scorpio?" Luke asked bluntly. He stifled an evil grin as the young agent immediately became defensive.

"My interest? What is that supposed to mean? I’m Rob – Miss Scorpio’s guard. That’s all." Luke’s eyebrows rose in disbelief. Parker was starting to wonder who irritated him more: Robert, who generally just ignored him or Luke and his twenty questions.

"Who do you think you’re fooling? You looked mighty cozy holding that little girl today," Luke pointed out.

"I’ve been around them for months. Of course, they’re comfortable with me by now. So what?"

"Nice shiner," Luke said, switching tactics. The change in topic threw Parker off. "I noticed Jason wasn’t looking so hot either. But hey, at least he looks worse than you, right?" Parker opened his mouth to protest but no sound came out. He finally gave up and stalked over to the nurse’s station to see if there was any news. Luke smirked. As long as he had to hang around the hospital, he might as well have some fun.

A man dressed in surgical scrubs strode through the emergency room waiting area. He glanced at Luke and Parker as he walked through the door that led to the exam rooms. He stopped when he saw Jason Morgan leaning against the wall. Jason’s eyes were closed so he did not notice the man step behind a rack of supplies. Gina Cates crashed through the doors. She skidded to a stop as she looked around. Her eyes landed on Jason and she called his name.

"Jason?"

"Gina? What are you doing here?"

"I heard what happened. Is Robin okay? And the twins?"

"They’re fine." Gina glanced through the door next to them.

"Oh my God! Who’s that?" Gina exclaimed as she caught sight of Alex.

"I don’t know. Let’s get out of here. Robin wasn’t exactly happy to see me," Jason replied. The man listening nearby frowned. "Sonny’s in the cafeteria. Let’s go sit with him." He led Gina away, pausing for one more look at Robin.

Both Jason and Gina were so distracted they didn’t notice the man lurking in the hall. After they were gone, he walked slowly to the door of the exam room where the doctors fought to their patient. He dismissed Alex with barely a glance, then turned his attention to Anna. One look at her face was all he needed to know that she was lost, afraid and hurting. He hated that she was in pain, but knew it couldn't be helped. It would have been much harder for her to lose Alex after getting to know her. He cursed himself for not getting rid of Alexandra years ago. He could have done it quietly, neatly…painlessly. Instead, the idiot he hired made a mess of the job and now Anna was suffering along with her sister.

He willed Alexandra to let go, stop fighting. Even as he hoped, he knew she wouldn’t give up. Stubbornness apparently ran in the Devane family. He remembered how determined Alexandra had been to discover the meaning behind her strange dreams. No amount of coddling or consoling would stop her. Still, it had been time for her to go before Avery was old enough to remember her "mother" too well. He had planned to dispose of her completely but, when the time came, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. She looked too much like his beloved Anna. So, instead, he shipped Alexandra back to her mother who was more than happy to help her daughter forget him.

He mentally shook himself to clear his head and focus on the present. Anna was so distraught, she didn’t even know he was there. He sighed with regret. She had looked the same way when her younger sister Lindsay died. It was a shame she had to lose another sister but maybe she would come away from the experience more grateful for the family she still had. He was sure that Avery would help Anna deal with the loss of Alexandra. After all, hadn’t Anna said she wanted more children?

He knew all about Andrew. He knew everything about Anna. He knew she held him responsible for the boy’s death, but he refused to accept the blame. It was an unfortunate accident, nothing more. Eventually, Anna would realize that, too. She always forgave him. He fully expected that, once she was away from the bad influence Robert, Sean and Frisco represented, that she would remember how much she loved him. She was too trusting, too blinded by the black and white picture they presented of good and evil that she sometimes forgot the more interesting shades of gray in between. But soon, she would be back where she belonged, with him and with Avery. Their little family would be complete. And everything would be as it should. Robin and her children were welcome, too, of course, but that decision would be left up to Anna.

But first, Alexandra must die. He scowled as he watched Alexandra’s body arch off of the bed as the doctor shocked her heart again. His frown deepened as he saw the hesitant blips on the monitor slowly become steadier. Damn. Sweet Alexandra, still determined to hang on. If this keeps up, I’ll have to resort to more drastic measures. Like Charlotte. Can’t have Anna thinking I did this. He fully intended to blame Alexandra’s death on her mother anyway. It was no secret that the woman hated her daughters, so Anna would naturally accept his explanation. And then, should he dispose of Charlotte, Anna would be even more indebted to him. He had the plan all worked out. Now if he could only get Alexandra to cooperate.

Inside the room, Anna held Robin as tightly as she could. It appeared that Alex had survived this latest test. While Monica’s face was still grim, she gently told Anna that at least for the time being, her sister was holding her own.

"But we need to get her to surgery immediately. Dr. Greenman will be here in a moment. There are some papers, I’d like you to sign. If you’ll come with me – "

"Monica," Anna interrupted. "Can I stay with her until she goes upstairs? I’ll sign anything you want later."

"Anna, we need to take her now."

"Okay, but first can I…I just want to…I need to tell her something. Can I do that? Please?" Monica smiled sadly.

"Of course."

Anna inched over to the bed. Alex looked so small, she was almost afraid to touch her. A doctor – presumably Dr. Greenman – walked into the room. He smiled kindly at Robin and Anna before he and Monica huddled together to discuss Alex. Anna smoothed her sister’s hair back from her forehead, trying not to notice it was sticky with dried blood. She leaned down, bringing her face level with Alexandra’s.

"Alexandra? Can you hear me?" she whispered. "I think you can. You hang on. Do you hear me? Hang on. You’ve got the best doctors trying to help you but you have to do your part, too. Don’t give up on me." She paused as her tears threatened to overwhelm her. When she able to get her emotions in check, she continued.

"Don’t give up on Dimitri. He’s going to be okay and he’s going to expect you to be here when he wakes up," Anna lied. She had no idea if Dimitri would live. She only knew he wasn’t as seriously injured as Alex. "Edmund is coming here. Sean’s calling him right now. So don’t you dare die," she whispered as her voice broke. "I love you. I need you here. Okay?" She glanced at Monica and knew it was time to go. "I’ll see you soon, Alex. I’ll be right here waiting for you."

Anna gently kissed her sister’s forehead and let the doctors take Alexandra from the room. Robin rushed over and threw her arms around her mother. Sean walked cautiously into the room. He hadn’t seen them take Alex upstairs so he wasn’t sure what had happened. Outside in the hallway, Faison shrank back away from the door. He watched as Sean spoke quietly to Anna and Robin then wrapped his arms around them both. Soon Anna. Soon we can be together again. And this time…no one will stop us, he thought. He reluctantly turned to leave.
