- Several Days Later
Setting: General Hospital
(It’s early in the morning. Robin Scorpio walks off the elevator holding a
cup of tea, hoping it would make up for her mere four hours of sleep last night.
The last few weeks had been amazing. She was back at GH, working by Patrick’s
side, and it was the best feeling of her life… until she would see Noah and an
overwhelming feeling of guilt would wash over her, but then the guilt would pass
and a feeling of relief would settle in, because at least she knew that he was
getting treated. But it was still too much for Robin. She couldn’t sleep. And
she was working way too much. Patrick had been so understanding; he just thought
she was taking on a new research project. He actually marveled at the sheer
brilliance of his girlfriend. And she marveled at his patience… something
Patrick Drake was not known for. After several long days at the hospital,
Patrick would take her to his favorite blues club and they would just sit in
silence. And she grew to love their silence. The way he simply held her hand or
kissed her fingertips. It was heavenly; it was pure; it was comfort. It was
exactly what Robin needed. She needed Patrick. She needed him more than she
would ever admit… ever want to admit. The previous night, Robin glanced at the
clock on the side of her bed a good dozen times wanting to call him. She couldn’t
call him. If she did, she would definitely wake him up… and if by some odd
chance, he was awake… he was bound to think she was calling for something
else. Robin smiled slightly. Well, maybe she was… not that she would ever act
on that either. But she wanted to hear his voice. She wanted to hear it so
badly. His voice always seemed to center her. It was grounding. Robin looked at
her phone about twenty times finally deciding that she couldn’t call him.
However, the thought did cross her mind that she should call Noah Drake! That
was who she should call – he’s the one that put her in this predicament. No,
but Noah needed his rest. She demanded he got at least eight to nine hours of
sleep a night… and for a doctor that was like asking for twelve from a normal
person. So, Robin just continued with her research until she fell asleep and met
with Noah the first thing in the morning as planned. After her meeting with
Noah, Robin was exhausted. She stumbles toward the locker rooms and walks
immediately toward hers. She opens her locker and jumps when she suddenly feels
someone’s hands on her waist. Patrick breaks out in laughter as Robin turns
around in his arms. She hits him playfully.)
Robin: You think you’re hysterical, don’t you?
Patrick: I know I am.
(Patrick leans down and kisses Robin softly then looks at her.)
Patrick: You didn’t get enough sleep.
(Robin sighs then turns back around to put her stuff in her locker.)
Robin: Don’t remind me. I almost called you about four times around two in the
morning.
Patrick: And why didn’t you?
Robin: One of us should have the luxury of slumber.
(Patrick leans in toward Robin and wraps his arms around her waist again.)
Patrick: Yeah, but then we both could’ve had the luxury of slumber together.
(Robin smiles as she leans back on Patrick’s chest.)
Robin: Maybe that’s why I didn’t call you.
(Patrick smirks as he kisses the side of Robin’s head.)
Patrick: I would’ve been the perfect gentleman. I would’ve simply come over,
read you a bedtime story then…
(Patrick laughs.)
Robin: Then… come on, finish that thought…
Patrick: Tucked you in.
Robin (skeptical): Sure.
Patrick: I’m serious, Robin.
(Patrick looks directly at her.)
Patrick: You should’ve called me. I would’ve come over. I don’t care what
time it is.
(Robin looks down.)
Patrick: I know how crazy you’ve been working since you came back.
(Robin sighs. First wave of guilt for the day – damn Noah!)
Patrick: Your patients are lucky to have you.
(Robin looks back up at Patrick, her eyes filled with tears.)
Patrick: I know that I am.
(Robin shakes her head then smiles.)
Robin: You have no idea how grateful I am for you. (Simply) I mean it, Patrick.
(Patrick pulls Robin toward him.)
Patrick: Prove it.
Robin (smiles): How?
Patrick: Come over to my house for dinner tonight.
Robin (laughs): Really?
Patrick: Don’t look so surprised.
Robin: Well, it’s just I thought you didn’t cook.
Patrick: Correction – I cook… just not for one. I only cook for two.
Robin: Well, then I’d love to. (Smiles) Do you need me to bring anything?
Patrick (smirks): Other than a change of clothes?
(Robin’s mouth falls as her face reddens.)
Patrick: And maybe some…
Robin: You!
(Robin stops Patrick from finishing his sentence by pulling him toward her
and kissing him passionately. He moans slightly as she deepens the kiss and he
gently pushes her against the lockers. Robin gasps slightly at the feel of the
hard metal on her back. She always got so lost in his kisses. This was exactly
why she wanted to call him last night… and not call him all at the same time.
Once they got like this, it didn’t matter where they were, they couldn’t
stop. Their hands had minds of their own, their mouths found each others like
magnets… it was insane. They were insatiable. Patrick feels Robin’s hands
travel to the bottom of his shirt and soon her delicate fingers tracing his
lower abdomen. He wanted her so much. Robin hears him quietly moan her name and
just as she begins to lift his shirt from his pants, the door to the locker room
opens revealing Lainey and Elizabeth. Both women stand in shock with their
mouths agape.)
Elizabeth: Robin!
(Robin immediately jumps and pulls away from Patrick. He simply turns around
smirking while wiping his lips softly.)
Robin (embarrassed): Liz! Lainey! Hey!
(Elizabeth looks back and forth between Robin and Patrick. She had to laugh.
Her timing was horrible… as usual. She was convinced Patrick was going to get
her written up soon, just for sheer payback. Elizabeth attempts to nonchalantly
point toward the bottom of Robin’s scrubs.)
Robin: What?
(Robin looks down and notices the pull-strings have been undone, courtesy of
Patrick’s extremely talented hands. She takes a deep intake of breath and
reties her pants then pushes back her hair embarrassed.)
Robin: Thank you.
Liz (smirking): Anytime.
(Lainey looks at Patrick and clears her throat slightly while pointing to her
neck.)
Patrick: Hmm?
Lainey: Lipstick.
Patrick: Oh.
(Robin covers her face as Patrick wipes his neck slightly. This was going
from bad to worse.)
Lainey: My locker’s over here…
Liz: Mine too.
(Liz and Lainey walk toward the next row of lockers attempting to contain
their laughter, but the moment they pass Robin and Patrick no longer can and
begin to hysterically laugh.)
Robin (embarrassed): We can still hear you!
(Patrick walks over to Robin and simply kisses her forehead then pulls her
toward him.)
Patrick (whispers): You’re cute when you get all flushed.
Robin (flatly): Yeah adorable.
Patrick: Come on… that wasn’t so bad.
(Robin looks back at him.)
Robin: In five more minutes it would’ve been.
Patrick (smiles widely): Five? Oh honey… try more like one.
(Robin blushes then starts laughing herself.)
Robin: Yeah, more like thirty seconds. (Looks at him) Can we be alone in your
apartment tonight? (Smiles) Do you think you can trust me?
Patrick: Trust you? (Kisses her quickly) I think you should worry about me.
(Smiles) I can only keep this gentleman thing going for so long… especially
when you look at me like that.
Robin (innocently): Like what?
(Patrick points toward her as he walks away.)
Patrick: You know what you do to me, Scorpio. Don’t act all coy.
(Robin laughs as Patrick leaves the locker room. Once he’s gone, Robin can
hear Lainey and Liz still laughing.)
Robin: You know, I can still hear you!
Setting: The General Hospital Cafeteria
(Noah Drake sits down at one of the corner table and looks down at a folder
holding his latest blood workups. He knew that he was supposed to contact Robin,
so they could go over his results and to see if her drug combination was
working. But, he was paralyzed. He couldn’t move. He prayed that Robin’s
combinations worked. And if anyone’s would work, it would be hers. Robin was
good. She was simply amazing. She thought of drug combinations he hadn’t even
considered. The moment he saw her this morning, he knew that he made the right
choice… well, until he saw Patrick chase Robin into the locker room, smiling
the entire time because she was oblivious to him following her. Noah had never
seen his son that happy before. He had such a look of pure joy on his face. It
almost choked Noah up and made him pray that this combo worked until a liver was
available. He lowers the folder again onto the table then looks up when he
notices Luke Spencer walking toward him.)
Noah: Well, I never thought I’d see you in this hospital again.
Luke: I spent more than enough time in this hell hole. (Sighs) No, I’m
actually here for Robin.
Noah: Does she know you’re looking for her?
Luke: Not yet. (Rubs the back of his neck) How’s she feeling?
Noah: Good. A lot better. Is everything okay? Is it about Robert?
(Luke sighs as he sits down across from Noah.)
Luke: No. I thought I should just check on her. (Shakes his head) Thinking of
it, maybe I’m better off just letting her be.
Noah: Why?
Luke: I’m a reminder of the man that abandoned her. She wouldn’t want to see
me.
Noah: Luke, I doubt that. (Looks at him) Did you ever stop to think that you
might just be a reminder of the man that loves her? Yes, Robert abandoned her…
but they made some sort of peace, from what I understand. And she needs to
remember that he didn’t die; that he’s somewhere out there, waiting for her
if she should need him. And if anyone, you’d remind her of that. (Stands up)
And perhaps you could remind her to believe in miracles. And that, my friend, we
all need to be reminded of from time to time… especially in our chosen
profession.
Setting: Patrick Drake’s Apartment
(It’s late in the evening. Patrick got out of work a few hours ago. Robin
was supposed to be off as well, but she had a last minute meeting. Her last
minute meeting lasted longer than either had expected. Patrick rubs the back of
his neck tiredly as he glances up at his clock from his couch. It was almost
eleven. It was too late. Robin wouldn’t make it over for dinner. Patrick sighs
as he stands up and walks over to his dining room table. He leans over and
softly blows out the two candles flickering on the table. He laughs slightly.
Patrick actually made an effort tonight. He looks up when he suddenly hears his
phone ringing. It was most likely Robin telling him how spent she was and that
she’d see him tomorrow at GH. Patrick walks over to his kitchen counter and
picks up the phone.)
Patrick: Hello?
Robin (tiredly): Hey.
(Patrick sighs slightly as he rests his arms on his kitchen counter.)
Patrick: Hey. Have you finally left the research lab?
Robin: I had to go… my eyes couldn’t stay open.
(Patrick shoots up somewhat concerned.)
Patrick: And you drove home? Robin!
(Robin sighs tiredly.)
Robin: Before you start getting all "caring" on me, I called for car
service.
(Patrick sighs.)
Patrick: Good. (Pauses) You could’ve called me, you know. I would’ve driven
you home.
Robin: I know you would have.
Patrick: Then, why didn’t you?
(Suddenly there’s a knocking on Patrick’s door. He looks up curiously.)
Patrick: Hey Robin… hold on, someone’s at my door.
Robin (lightly): Oh, could it be one of your late night visitors?
(Patrick walks toward his door, still holding his cordless phone.)
Patrick: More like probably my paper boy looking for his money. I think I’ve
missed him about ten mornings in a row.
(Patrick rubs his head as he opens the door. His eyes widen at the sight of
Robin holding her cell phone.)
Robin (smiling): What’s the going rate for a weekly subscription to the Port
Charles Gazette these days?
(Patrick smiles as he pulls Robin into his apartment and into his arms.)
Patrick: I thought you went home.
Robin (looks at him): And break our date? (Touches his face) I couldn’t do
that to you. (Smiles) Or myself.
(Patrick smiles as he leans down and kisses Robin tenderly over and over
again. Words could not express how happy he was to see her tonight. He needed to
see her. Patrick slowly pulls away and looks down at Robin.)
Patrick: Are you hungry?
(Robin just shakes her head "no." Patrick lowers his hand and
touches her neck.)
Patrick: Have you eaten?
(Robin sighs tiredly.)
Robin: I just wanted to see you.
(Patrick was speechless. Robin looked so vulnerable in that moment. He slowly
leans in and tenderly kisses her forehead then looks directly at her.)
Patrick: Let me pour you a glass of wine.
(Patrick walks over to his dining room table and picks up a bottle of red
wine and quickly pours her a glass as Robin walks over to his couch and sits
down on it. He turns around holding two glasses of red wine and stops shortly at
the sight of Robin. She looked so beautiful. She had her eyes closed and was
leaning back on the couch. She reopens her eyes as he sits down next to her and
hands her a glass.)
Patrick: Would it be futile to say that I think you may be working too hard?
(Robin just shakes her head then turns and looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: It’s not futile. I hear you.
(Patrick nods then looks down.)
Patrick: Good.
(Robin reaches toward Patrick and gently touches his face. He looks back at
her.)
Robin: Thank you.
Patrick: For the wine?
Robin: That too. (Smiles) But I was thanking you for caring.
(Patrick smiles as he simply looks back at Robin.)
Patrick: You make it easy.
(There’s a quiet silence between them. Robin slowly lowers her glass of red
wine onto Patrick’s coffee table then moves closer to him. She slowly raises
her fingers and gently touches his lips. Patrick closes his eyes at the mere
feeling of her finger tips.)
Robin: Patrick, I hope you know how much you mean to me.
(Patrick opens his eyes slowly and looks back at Robin. He tenderly takes her
hands in his and looks back at her. She simply looks down at their hands.)
Robin: I know that I pushed you away a lot, but from the very beginning…
(Looks at him) You had me. And you had me in a way that no one else ever did.
(Patrick smirks slightly.)
Patrick: Now, I know you’re exhausted.
(Robin shakes her head and looks down again.)
Robin (softly): No, I’m just…
(Robin sighs as she looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: I’m just trying to be honest with you. (Simply) All I wanted to do
tonight was see you. And it’s just not tonight – more and more, all I want
to do is see you, be with you, touch you, kiss you. (Sighs) Patrick, I miss you
when I don’t see you at the hospital. I can’t stop looking at you when we
have a consult. You literally take my breath away when you look up at me from
across the operating table… and I know that I’m supposed to be thinking
about the patient, but for that one moment… all I can think about is you and
how much I want to be with you. (She tenderly touches his neck) I just… I need
you to know these things.
(Patrick gently brushes his knuckles against Robin’s cheek as he looks back
at her.)
Patrick: Why now?
Robin: Why not now?
(Robin looks down as Patrick simply looks back at her. Every single word she
said touched his heart in a way that no other words ever had. She was putting
herself out there to him.)
Patrick: I don’t want you to go home tonight.
(Robin looks back at Patrick, ready to object but before she can, he gently
touches her leg.)
Patrick: Robin, I’ve never felt like this before. I want you in ways that I’ve
never wanted anything or anyone. Robin, you make me want to be a better person.
You make me want to be someone worthy of being with you. (Sighs) I honestly don’t
have words to express how I feel about you… so, please… let me show you in
another way.
(Without any more words, Patrick slowly leans in and kisses Robin softly over
and over again until the kisses turn more passionate. He wanted her so badly.
Patrick pulls away slowly and looks at her.)
Patrick: Robin, please.
(Robin opens her mouth to say something then looks down at her hands.)
Patrick: I’m not trying to pressure you. (Looks at her) I just want to show
you how much you mean to me… how much I want you. (She looks back at him)
Robin, I want you so much.
(Robin nods.)
Robin: I know.
(Patrick tilts his head and looks at her.)
Patrick: But?
Robin (honestly): I’m scared.
(Patrick looks down at his hands then back at her.)
Patrick: Of me?
Robin (quickly): No, no!
Patrick: Of what then?
Robin: I don’t want to hurt you, Patrick.
Patrick: Robin, I am a doctor. I know the risks. I know how to protect myself.
Robin: But, do you? Do you really? You can protect yourself from the virus in my
blood… well, at least try to, but you can’t protect yourself from what it’s
like to be with a HIV+ woman. (Looks at him) Patrick, there are things that we
wouldn’t be able to do.
Patrick: I can improvise. I’m extremely creative.
Robin: We’d never be able to be impulsive.
Patrick: I’ll carry a condom around my neck at all times.
(Robin looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: I’m serious.
Patrick: So am I. (Looks at her) Robin, you’re viral load is undetectable. I
know the precautions we’d need to take.
Robin: Patrick, getting involved with me can be a burden for someone like you.
(Patrick stares back at Robin then suddenly stands up. He runs his hands
through his hair as he walks away from Robin. She said something wrong and she
knew it. Robin looks down at her hands as Patrick walks over to his kitchen. For
some reason, he found himself at his sink staring down at it with his arms
spread out resting all of his weight on them.)
Patrick: Maybe you’re right. It’s been a long night. You’re tired. I’m
tired. (Pauses) I’ll call you a cab.
(Robin looks up then slowly walks toward Patrick. She takes the phone from
his hand and hangs it up. He avoids looking at her.)
Robin: It’s a burden to be in my own skin sometimes, Patrick. (Emotionally) I
don’t want that for you.
(Finally Patrick looks at her.)
Patrick: So, what do you want for me? Do you want me to be alone? Unhappy?
Frustrated? (Slightly annoyed) What is it that you want for me, Robin? I know
what I want for me. I want you. I want you in my life. In my bed. There is
nothing wrong with that and I won’t let you try to convince me there is.
(Looks at her) Tell me, Robin, forget me for a moment – what do you want for
yourself?
Robin (emotionally): You know that I want you.
Patrick: Then, why are you so afraid of having me?
(Patrick steps back slightly and opens his arms. He looks directly at Robin.)
Patrick: Here I am, Robin! I am all yours. I don’t get much more vulnerable
than this.
(Robin walks into Patrick’s arms and hugs him tightly, wrapping her arms
around his waist. He sighs a sigh of relief and gently kisses the top of her
head.)
Patrick: Robin, I just want to be with you. (Sighs) If you’re not ready… we
can just sleep.
(Robin pulls away slightly and looks up at Patrick smirking.)
Robin: Us in bed together… just sleeping?
(Patrick pushes back Robin’s hair as he looks down at her.)
Patrick: I can have restraint, Scorpio.
Robin: Well, I don’t have clothes.
Patrick: I’ll drive you to your apartment in the morning.
Robin: I don’t have anything to sleep in.
Patrick: Me neither. I sleep in the nude…
(Robin’s mouth falls slightly.)
Patrick: Most of the time. (Smiles) But, I do own several pairs of pajama pants
as well as various T-shirts that will probably look adorable on you.
(Robin looks down.)
Patrick: Robin, just let me take care of you tonight.
(Robin looks back up at Patrick.)
Patrick: I know how hard you’ve been working and how tired you are. (Touches
her neck) You’re not alone anymore. (Simply) You have me.
(Robin closes her eyes for a moment then reopens them and reaches up for
Patrick and tenderly kisses him. The moment their lips touch, both of their
bodies ease slightly and held breaths are released. They simply fit together.
Patrick pulls Robin closer to him then looks down at her as she pulls away
slightly.)
Robin: Patrick, can we just see where tonight leads? No pressure.
(Patrick smirks.)
Patrick: Is that a yes?
(Robin takes a deep breath and looks back at the man standing in front of
her.)
Robin: That’s an "I am so tired. You are getting more gorgeous by the
second and I can’t imagine anything better than falling asleep in your arms
and waking up next to you."
(Robin takes both of Patrick’s hands in hers and looks back at him.)
Robin: I want to spend the night with you. (Touches his face) And I’m not
scared of you or us, I promise.
(Patrick smiles and tenderly kisses Robin’s hand.)
Patrick: Good.
(Patrick suddenly smiles wider.)
Patrick: Wait until you see my T-shirt collection!
(Robin covers her face embarrassed as Patrick takes her hand and leads her
toward his bedroom. His bedroom. Robin stops short once he opens the door to his
room. This was where the magic happened. Robin freezes slightly. It wasn’t
like she had expected. It wasn’t gaudy or showy. It was simple. In the center
of the room was a king-size bed covered by a simple black comforter. Next to
each side of his bed were matching simple dark wooden nightstands. Robin’s
eyes notice a small desk in the corner of the room facing the window. He
probably had an amazing view. Robin quietly walks past Patrick and toward his
window. He did have an amazing view. She can see the entire Port Charles
skyline. She turns her head slightly and sees another door leading to, what must
be, the bathroom. Patrick watches her silently, taking her in while she takes in
his entire room. She was so beautiful and the way the moonlight just hit her as
she stood by the window made him so grateful that she decided to stay with him
tonight. He wanted her. He wanted her more than he had ever wanted any woman
before. He wanted her so much that he just simply wanted her. Her in his bed;
her in his arms; her by his side… her in any way she would allow him to have
her. Patrick slowly walks over to her and she turns toward him, smiling.)
Robin: Your bedroom’s nice.
Patrick: And you haven’t even tried the bed yet.
(Robin smirks as she hits Patrick playfully. He laughs, kisses her forehead
then pulls back looking at her. He hands her an old, worn grey T-shirt.)
Patrick: You should feel special. This is my lucky T-shirt.
(Robin smiles widely.)
Robin: Oh, I get it! You’re hoping if I wear it, you’ll get lucky.
(Patrick laughs as he leans in and kisses her neck tenderly.)
Patrick: Well, now that you mention it.
(Robin bursts out laughing as she pulls away slowly. Suddenly, Patrick
straightens up and touches Robin’s arm concerned.)
Patrick: Hey, I’m sorry I didn’t think of this sooner… do you have your
protocol with you?
(Robin smiles, genuinely touched, as she nods.)
Robin: I always carry extra with me.
Patrick (relieved): Good.
(Patrick watches Robin as she looks down at the old, worn grey T-shirt. She
unfolds it and smiles slightly at the sight of the faded Def Leppard T-shirt.)
Patrick: So, does it meet your approval?
(Robin nods then looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: You meet my approval.
(Robin leans up on her tiptoes and tenderly kisses Patrick. He pulls her
closer toward him as he deepens the kiss. He moans slightly as he feels Robin’s
hands lower from his face and stop at the buttons of his shirt. Patrick slowly
pulls away from Robin and gently covers her hands with his. He just simply looks
back at her and caresses the side of her face.)
Patrick (smirks): I thought I was supposed to take care of you.
(Robin simply backs away slightly and looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: Okay then.
(Patrick stares back at Robin and swallows the huge lump now in his throat.
He takes a deep breath then walks toward her and slowly leans down and kisses
her again. He couldn’t stop kissing her, not when she was standing this close
to him looking so amazingly beautiful in the moonlight. It was like his body and
hands had a mind of its own… and sure enough, his hands traveled to the
buttons of her blouse and gently undid each one. Robin takes a deep intake of
breath as she feels more and more of her skin being revealed to him and touched
by him. She had never felt such sensations in her life. Robin pulls away slowly
from Patrick and stares back at him. She takes a moment to catch her breath as
Patrick just looks back at her. There are no words said between them. There were
no words needed as Robin simply reaches behind her and unclasps her bra. Patrick
simply stares back at her.)
Patrick: You are so beautiful.
(Robin just looks back at Patrick. She actually felt beautiful. She watches
him approach her and in a simple gesture, she turns around and he stares at the
zipper on the back of her skirt. Robin intakes a deep breath and clenches her
fists slightly as she feels Patrick lean over her slightly, kiss her bare neck
then shoulders and then slowly… so very slowly lowers the zipper to her skirt.
She feels the thin material fall down her legs and she closes her eyes. Robin
Scorpio was practically standing nude in front of Patrick Drake! How in the
world did this happen? When in the world did this seem like something she would
do? She feels Patrick’s hands on her bare legs and in that moment, she knew
exactly when this became okay. It was when she felt safe in his presence. She
knew that he would never hurt her. She could feel his protectiveness in the way
he touched her, kissed her… softly pulled down the sole undergarment remaining
on her body. Robin turns around slowly and looks back at Patrick completely
revealed… completely vulnerable. Patrick takes in the complete beauty of Robin
and mentally takes a picture of her; a picture that would be engraved in his
mind forever. The way he looked back at Robin touched her heart. Touched her
heart so deeply and when he walked over to her and simply raised her arms over
her body then gently lowered his shirt onto her body, she melted… she simply
melted. Patrick smiles as he steps back and looks at her.)
Patrick: You do look adorable.
(Robin looks down at herself and smiles. Patrick watches her and laughs. He
walks over to his bed and pulls down the covers.)
Patrick: Any preference on sides?
(Robin shakes her head and climbs onto Patrick’s bed.)
Robin: This works for me.
Patrick (staring at her): Me too.
(Robin feels the color rising to her cheeks as she stares back at Patrick,
who is standing in front of her and just starts simply undressing. He had no
shame. He simply undoes each button of his shirt, never taking his eyes off of
her.)
Robin (softly): Patrick?
Patrick: Yeah?
(Without any words, Robin moves toward Patrick and pulls him by his opened
shirt and he falls easily on top of her as they fall back onto the bed. She
reaches up toward him and softly kisses him over and over again. She had no idea
what she was doing to him. Carefully, he lifts himself and looks down at her.)
Patrick: Now doesn’t this feel better than your cold, lonely sheets?
Robin: Shut up and kiss me.
(Patrick laughs as Robin pulls him toward her and kisses him. No matter what
happened after this, this was turning out to definitely be the best night he had
in a very long time.)
- The Next Day
Setting: Patrick’s Bedroom
(It’s early in the morning. The sun is shining brightly through Patrick’s
entire bedroom. The room is eerily quiet except for the faint sound of soft
moans and gasps. Robin and Patrick woke up entangled in each other, their legs,
their arms… their bodies. They had spent the whole entire night together…
talking, kissing, talking, more kissing, talking and more kissing that led to
touching back to talking. It had been an amazing night. This was exactly what
Robin needed. She needed to get out of her body for a moment and Patrick allowed
her that. He listened to her intently as she just said what was on her mind and
she listened to him as he spoke about himself. This had been the most intimate
night of Patrick’s life… and it wasn’t about sex. It was purely about
being with Robin, sharing things with her that he never shared with anyone and
he did it with such ease. Such ease that it somewhat frightened him, but then
Robin would look at him in that way she does… and he would just keep on
talking. They talked until they fell asleep in each other’s arms, Robin in
Patrick’s T-shirt and Patrick in just simple pajama bottoms. This morning,
however, wasn’t about talking. It was all about them; it was all about
passion. Patrick woke up to the feeling of Robin’s soft breath on his bare
chest next to his heart. They simply gravitated toward one another during the
night. He couldn’t explain the feelings that ran through him at the mere
closeness of her. Patrick carefully raised his hand and gently ran it up and
down her back. She felt so warm and alive. He could feel the soft curves of her
body under his T-shirt and wanted to see them again. Patrick closed his eyes and
replayed for the twentieth time in the last few hours, Robin vulnerably
undressing in front of him and him carefully lowering the T-shirt onto her body.
He had never seen anything so beautiful, so natural in his life… that was
until this morning and he saw Robin laying next to him, her head on his chest,
her arms wrapped around his waist. It left him speechless… it left him wanting
her. And he must’ve ran his hand up and down Robin’s back about twenty times
before she woke up and simply looked up at him with no words. They didn’t need
any words, at that point. Robin simply raised her body and pressed her lips to
Patrick’s and in a simple, fluid movement, he grabbed her and brought her body
entirely to his. He can feel her legs surrounding him as she gently straddled
him and lowered her mouth to his again and again. Patrick raised his hands and
gently pushed back Robin’s falling hair from her face and tucked it behind her
ear as she kissed him with more passion than she ever had in her life. She
couldn’t remember ever feeling this way before. She felt out of control. It
was like she couldn’t move herself from Patrick’s lips, take herself from
Patrick’s grasp… she wanted him to touch her, feel her. Robin moans slightly
into his mouth when she feels Patrick’s hands run up her back bringing the
T-shirt with him. She wanted this. She wanted him. Robin slowly lowers her hands
down Patrick’s chest then stops at his waist and pulls at the drawstrings of
his pajama pants. She can feel Patrick raising the T-shirt from her body and she
simply raises her arms and lets him remove the thin garment from her body. He
was right. It was a lucky T-shirt. Patrick pulls away slightly and looks
directly at Robin as she attempts to regain some sort of proper breathing
pattern. He still couldn’t get over how beautiful she was.)
Patrick (breathlessly): Robin…
(Robin reaches toward Patrick and gently touches his bare chest, feeling it
rise and fall as rapidly as hers is.)
Robin (breathlessly): Are you sure?
(Patrick gently reaches toward Robin and touches her face.)
Patrick: You are so beautiful.
(Robin closes her eyes as Patrick’s hand leaves her face and trails down
her shoulder then her bare arm.)
Patrick: I want you, Robin.
(Robin reopens her eyes and looks back at Patrick. He was so incredibly
beautiful. Even more beautiful than he was last night. Robin pushes back his
hair slightly, never taking her eyes off of him, then runs her hands down his
chest, stops for a moment at his stomach then rests her hands on his hipbones.
She was driving him mad.)
Robin (softly): I want this too.
(Robin leans and kisses right next to Patrick’s lips.)
Robin (barely above a whisper): I want this now.
(That was all he needed to hear. Patrick forcefully grabbed her body and
rolled them over until he was lying gently on top of her. He touched her body
freely and felt her arch at his touch and gasp when he grazed his fingers over
certain places. The entire room was spinning. Robin grabs at the sheets
underneath her and closes her eyes in pure bliss as she feels Patrick’s lips
travel along her entire body. He can softly hear his name breathed from her lips
repeatedly. That was the best sound he had ever heard. RIIIIIING RIIIIIING
RIIIIIING. And that was the worst. Robin can faintly hear the sound of a ringing
phone and then Patrick’s lips curse slightly against her bare stomach. It was
her cell phone. Robin slowly opens her eyes.)
Robin (softly): Patrick… my phone.
Patrick: Let it go.
Robin: No… I need to… it might be the hospital.
(Patrick grunts as he rolls over and lies on his back. Robin looks over at
him apologetically then jumps off the bed, grabbing his T-shirt and runs out of
the bedroom. She quickly finds her purse and her cell phone.)
Robin: Hello?
Noah: Robin? Are you home?
Robin (concerned): Hey! Is everything okay?
Noah: I got my latest blood workups.
Robin: Did you look at them yet?
Noah: No, I was kind of hoping that you could be here when I do.
Robin (nods): I’ll be right there.
(Robin closes her cell phone and turns around in shock to see Patrick
standing in the door way of his bedroom in just his pajama pants. He was so
gorgeous.)
Robin: I’m sorry.
(Robin walks toward Patrick and touches his chest as she looks up at him.)
Patrick: Don’t go…
Robin: It was the hospital.
Patrick: There are other doctors.
Robin: Not for this patient. He’s very stubborn.
Patrick (smirks): More than me?
Robin: Closer than you know.
(Patrick gently kisses the top of Robin’s head and runs his hands up and
down her arms.)
Patrick: I’ll drive you home so you can change.
(Patrick starts to walk toward his kitchen, but Robin stops him by gently
tugging at his wrist. He stops and looks back at her.)
Robin: Patrick… I wouldn’t have had any regrets.
(Patrick’s face softens slightly as he looks back at her.)
Robin: And I do want to finish what we started.
(Patrick smirks then walks back over to her and kisses Robin tenderly.)
Patrick: Me too.
(Robin pulls Patrick closer to her and kisses him again deeper and deeper
while standing on her tiptoes. She was doing this all for him. Helping Noah.
Treating Noah. There is a beautiful soul inside of Patrick Drake and she wanted
to do everything in her power to insure that it stayed intact. Slowly, she feels
Patrick pull away and look at her smirking.)
Patrick: Keep the T-shirt.
Robin (smiles): What?
Patrick: Think of it as a souvenir.
(Robin smiles as she watches Patrick walk toward the kitchen. With ease, he
puts on a pot of coffee as she watched him silently with amazement. He looks up
at her and smiles. It was in that moment she realized that she was falling in
love with Patrick Drake. Robin simply smiles back at him, hoping that her smile
didn’t reveal more than it should.)
Setting: An Exam Room at General Hospital
(Noah Drake is sitting impatiently on top of an examination table. He was
tapping a tune on the table with his fingers nervously as he waited for Robin to
return to the room. She would reveal to him if her proposed drug therapy had
been helping him. It wasn’t a cure. He knew that and so did she. But it would
buy him some time until he received his liver transplant. Once again, when he
saw Robin this morning he saw the silent begging in her eyes that he involved
Patrick in this… and he simply shook his head. He saw the sheer frustration in
Robin’s eyes and for a second feared that she would throw his folder back in
his face and tell him to analyze his own results, but she didn’t. Robin simply
clenched her fists, straightened her shirt then continued talking to him as a
doctor. He could tell however that she was furious with him. That was about an
hour ago and now he was simply waiting. Finally the door opens to the
examination room and Robin no longer looks angry. She’s smiling widely and
walks toward him.)
Robin: Your liver count is up.
(Noah smiles relieved and nods as he releases his held breath.)
Noah: It worked?
Robin: It’s definitely a start.
(Robin hands Noah his folder and he looks down at it. He shakes his head in
amazement.)
Noah: You really are brilliant, Robin.
(Robin shakes her head.)
Robin: I’m just doing my job.
Noah: No, you’re doing more than that. (Looks at her) Don’t think that I don’t
see the dark circles under your eyes. (Looks down) And I know that this hasn’t
been easy for you, in regards to Patrick.
Robin: I don’t like keeping this from him.
Noah: I know.
Robin: He’d help you. Patrick is an amazing, amazing man. I know that he’d
be here for you.
(Noah looks back at Robin.)
Noah: And for you. I know that I’m being selfish.
Robin: This isn’t about me, Noah! None of this is! I’m doing this purely for
you – for you and Patrick. I want to help you in anyway I can. I want you to
live and you told me that the only way you’d fight is if I help you without
telling Patrick. (Frustrated) I feel like you… you cornered me, Noah. And I
hate keeping this from him. I hate it. It ties me in knots and…
Noah: But, your treatment worked.
(Robin closes her eyes and body slumps slightly. She simply nods as Noah
stands up from the examination table. She looks back at him.)
Noah: I have a consult with my son in five minutes. (Looks at her) I won’t
forget this, Robin. You’re saving my life.
(Robin watches Noah leave the examination room and in a gesture of
frustration, throws his chart against the wall. Hearing the commotion, Elizabeth
Spencer opens up the door to the examination room. She looks back at Robin.)
Liz: Hey… is everything okay?
(Robin takes a deep breath then quickly picks up the folder.)
Robin: Yeah, I’m fine. I just…
Liz: Was that Noah I just saw leave here?
(Robin looks back at Liz, not knowing what to say.)
Liz: This must be hard for you. (Pauses) Being between Patrick and his father’s
problems.
(Robin sighs as she sits on the examination table herself.)
Robin: You have no idea.
(Liz walks toward Robin.)
Liz: The other day, I saw Patrick and Noah fighting by the waiting area. I didn’t
even know what they were fighting over… but it was intense.
Robin: They’re a lot alike.
Liz: Stubborn?
Robin: Very.
Liz: They have something else in common, you know.
(Robin just looks back at Liz.)
Liz: They both think extremely highly of you. Every morning I get the distinct
honor of watching them argue over which cases they can have you consult on.
(Robin just smiles as she looks down at her hands.)
Liz: I’m sure, Patrick may have some ulterior motives in wanting you with him,
but I also know that he really does respect you as a doctor.
(Robin looks back at Liz.)
Robin: Why are you telling me this?
Liz: I don’t know. It just looked like you needed to hear it. You’re a good
doctor, Robin, and you make excellent decisions. I grew up in a family of
doctors and I can tell you… you’re one of the best ones I’ve ever seen. It’s
rare to see a doctor who is as smart as they are compassionate. (Smiles) I haven’t
seen one as good at that since Gramps.
Robin: Steve Hardy was an amazing doctor.
Liz (clearly): I know. (Smiles) Take a few minutes before your next appointment,
Robin.
(Robin just nods then watches Liz leave the examination room. She looks down
at the folder again in her hands. Noah Drake. She closes her eyes and wipes her
face then reopens them. She had to check the transplant list and see if he was
moving up yet. The deal always was… once he got the okay for a transplant,
Patrick would get to know what was going on. And she needed that more than ever,
right now.)
