Chapters 19-20
Setting: The Research Lab
(It’s later in the day. The hospital is eerily quiet. Robin is sitting at
one of the desks by herself, staring at the computer screen, practically willing
Noah’s name to move up the transplant list. After several minutes, Robin
closes her eyes and minimizes all the programs on her laptop. She covers her
face tiredly and runs her hands through her hair. She was so tired; so tired
that she didn’t even notice the door opening behind her. Patrick stops at the
entrance and stares at the back of Robin. She was exhausted. He walks over to
her and gently places his hands on her shoulders. Robin smiles at the feel of
Patrick’s hands on her shoulders then smiles even wider when she feels his
lips on her neck.)
Robin (smiles): Oh Dr. Carter.
(Patrick playfully hits Robin’s shoulder as he sits down next to her. She
looks at him and laughs.)
Robin: Oh Patrick, it’s you! I’m sorry!
(Patrick smirks.)
Patrick: Ha, ha, ha!
(Robin smiles as she turns fully toward him.)
Patrick: It’s nice to see you still have your sense of humor.
Robin: And why wouldn’t I?
Patrick: You’re exhausted, Robin. Liz told me that you haven’t taken a break
all day.
(Robin just looks down at her hands.)
Patrick: So, tell me… are we going for a record here? How many consecutive
hours one could work before collapsing?
(Robin looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: I slept plenty last night.
Patrick (takes her hand): Not nearly enough. (Touches her face) I’m serious,
Robin. You’re running yourself down.
(Patrick looks at the files in front of her.)
Patrick: What case are you working on? Is it something I could help you with?
Robin (quickly): No, I’m good!
Patrick: Robin, we’re a good team. Me and you. We could divide and conquer.
(She looks at him) Don’t you remember us during the virus outbreak? (Smiles)
We were unstoppable.
(Robin smiles tenderly and looks down at their joined hands.)
Robin: No, you were unstoppable. (Looks at her papers) I was stopped.
Patrick (softly): Then, are we going for an encore?
(There wasn’t anger in Patrick’s words. It was pure, unadulterated
concern and it warmed Robin’s heart.)
Robin: I’ll take better care of myself, I promise.
(Patrick touches both of Robin’s legs and faces her.)
Patrick: I’ll be more than happy to make good on that promise for you.
(Simply) Come home with me tonight.
(Robin looks at her pages and pages of notes then back at Patrick.)
Robin: I can’t.
(Patrick just looks back at her.)
Robin: How about later in the week?
Patrick: Later in the week? Okay, how about I pick you up and carry you out of
here?
Robin (smirks): Now, that is the second time you threatened me with that.
(Smiles) I’m starting to think that you had some fantasies about that, Dr.
Drake.
(Patrick looks down, somewhat embarrassed, as his face reddens. Robin’s
mouth falls slightly and she hits him.)
Robin (shocked): YOU HAVE?!?!
(Patrick looks back at Robin laughing.)
Patrick: I’m only human, here.
(Robin leans in toward Patrick and smiles.)
Robin: So, what else happens in those fantasies? You carry me out of here then…
(Patrick smiles as he bites his bottom lip.)
Patrick: Sometimes we’d just end up in the elevator… sometimes we’d be in
the parking lot… my car…
Robin (laughing): Wait! And what exactly are we doing in the elevator, parking
lot and your car!?!?
(Patrick just looks back at Robin and raises an eyebrow. Robin shakes her
head and covers her face somewhat embarrassed.)
Patrick: Please come home with me!
(Robin bursts out laughing as Patrick tugs on her hands.)
Robin: What will I ever do with you?
Patrick: See! If you gave me the chance, I’d show you. (Moves closer to her)
Come on!
(Robin laughs again as Patrick tenderly kisses her neck. His lips felt
amazing on her skin. She intakes a deep breath as she runs her fingers through
his hair. He had to stop doing this to her… she was falling so fast that she
couldn’t stop herself. Slowly Patrick pulls back and looks at her.)
Patrick: You know what I love about my predicament right now?
Robin (smiles): I’m almost afraid to ask… what?
Patrick: I am in a no lose situation, here. If you come home with me, I’ll get
to make love to you. (She covers her face) And if you don’t, I get to sit here
and try to convince you to come home with me and make love to me. (She looks at
him) And I love foreplay.
(Robin’s face turns a million shades redder and she stands quickly to her
feet.)
Robin (flustered): Okay… you have to go!
(Patrick bursts out laughing. She was so incredibly adorable and had not one
single idea.)
Patrick (laughing): What?
(Robin walks toward the lab door and opens it.)
Robin (embarrassed): I can’t think with you in here looking like that and
looking at me like that… and…
(Patrick walks over to Robin and touches her waist softly.)
Patrick: Looking at you? How?
Robin: You know what you’re doing. (Looks down between them) You SO know what
you’re doing.
(Patrick laughs as he lifts her face to look at her directly.)
Patrick: I got your mind off of your work for a few minutes, right?
(Robin just looks back at him.)
Patrick: That’s all I wanted.
(Patrick leans in and kisses Robin on the forehead tenderly.)
Patrick: Whenever you’re done for the night, call me.
(Robin’s eyes soften with deep admiration and love. He could honestly do no
wrong in her eyes right now.)
Robin (softly): It’ll probably be late.
Patrick: I’ll be up.
Robin (smirks): Really?
Patrick (laughs): Yes, in more ways than one… (Shakes his head) Now, whose
head is in the gutter?
Robin (blushes): That’s me, gutter girl.
(Patrick pushes back her hair and looks at her.)
Patrick (tenderly): My beautiful, sexy, adorable gutter girl.
(Robin simply stares back at Patrick. His eyes were so dark and warm. It was
like they spoke their own separate language… one away from the words he spoke
from his mouth. She loved his eyes. She loved his mouth… his hands… his lips…
him. Robin loved him. And she was socked with it. Patrick notices Robin’s eyes
widen slightly.)
Patrick: What is it?
Robin (softly): You should probably go.
Patrick: Promise to think of me.
(Robin smiles slightly.)
Robin: That won’t be a problem.
Patrick: Good… because I’m thinking of you more than you know.
(Patrick leans down and kisses Robin tenderly then looks at her.)
Patrick: Much more than you know.
(Robin smiles as she looks back at Patrick. He starts to leave. Before he
can, Robin’s voice stops him.)
Robin: Hey… are you really going home?
Patrick: No… I have some paperwork that I could do. (Simply) I’ll be around.
(Robin leans on the door and watches Patrick walk down the corridor. She
smiles watching him with her arms crossed in front of her lab coat. She loved
him. Robin Scorpio fell in love with Patrick Drake. She sighs. Robin looks up
when suddenly she hears her email alert go off. She curiously walks back over to
her laptop and maximizes her screen. Robin rubs her eyes tiredly then suddenly
narrows her eyes at the sight of the email in front of her. The subject clearly
read: Liver Donor Available. Robin’s hand shakes as she opens the email and
suddenly tears spring to her eyes. There was a liver that could be available for
Noah. She immediately reaches for the phone next to her and calls the organ
donor contact.)
Robin: This is Dr. Robin Scorpio. What are the chances for donated liver for Dr.
Drake?
(Robin closes her eyes relieved as she sighs. She can feel tears of pure
relief falling down her cheeks.)
Robin: Thank you. Okay. I’ll prepare the patient. (Sighs) When will we know
for certain? Okay. Thank you.
(Robin hangs up the phone. She stares at the email one last time and then
breaks out in a wide smile. She grabs her folders, a copy of the email then runs
out of the lab. She had to find Noah! And once they found Noah… they’d have
to find Patrick! And finally, finally… Noah would be saved! Robin runs toward
the Nurses’ Station and finds Liz.)
Robin (out of breath): Noah….
Liz: Robin, what’s wrong?
Robin: I need to find Noah Drake.
Liz: He said that he needed some fresh air.
Robin: Thanks.
(Patrick turns the corridor just in time to see Robin run toward the
staircase of the hospital. He watches curiously then continues toward his
office. Meanwhile, Robin flies up the stairs of the hospital then swings the
door open to the roof. Noah jumps slightly at the sound of the swinging door. He
looks back at the young doctor in front of him.)
Noah: You practically gave me a heart attack… which would not be a good thing
for a man in my condition.
(Without any words, Robin leaps toward Noah and hugs him tightly.)
Robin: They think they found a liver.
(An inaudible gasp is released from Noah’s lips as his arms slowly go
around the young doctor and he hugs her back. He might live. Noah might live. He
can feel the young doctor’s tears on his neck and in that moment, Noah
realizes the enormity of the task he gave Robin. He was speechless. Perhaps she
was right… he shouldn’t have put this all on her shoulders. Robin wasn’t
sleeping properly. It was way past midnight and she was still at the hospital,
most likely working on his case. He suddenly felt like a selfish bastard.
Slowly, Noah pulls away from Robin and looks down at her.)
Noah (softly): I’m sorry.
Robin (emotionally): Don’t be… it’ll all be fine. We’re going to get the
liver and I already have at least three surgeons who agreed to the surgery. They’re
the best ones in the field and…
Noah: No, I’m sorry… Robin.
(Noah looks down at his feet then back at Robin.)
Noah: I can’t take the liver.
(Robin gasps as her hands fall to her side.)
Robin (inaudibly): What?
Noah (shakes his head): I can’t… I can’t do it… I’m so sorry.
(Robin felt like someone just kicked her in the stomach.)
Robin (emotionally): What are you doing?
Noah: I can’t do this.
Robin (desperately): Noah, no!
(Robin felt like all the breath was taken out of her lungs and she was
gasping for breath. This couldn’t be happening.)
Noah: I thought I could do this, but I can’t.
(All of Robin’s strength was gone as tears begin to flow freely down her
face.)
Robin: You can’t do this, Noah.
(Noah gently touches her arm.)
Noah: I’m sorry, Robin. Call the agency and tell them I refused the liver.
Give it to the next candidate.
(She was numb. Robin just stared back at Noah with her mouth open, willing
some sort of speech to come from her lips.)
Noah: I’m so sorry. (Looks at her) Please don’t try to change my mind.
(Looks away) And don’t come after me.
(Robin chokes on her tears as Noah leaves her speechless on the roof. She was
completely and utterly speechless. And she couldn’t move. She couldn’t even
go after him if she wanted to. Her legs couldn’t even hold up her weight as
Robin falls to the ground of the roof wrecked with tears and full of emotion.
Down on the lower floor of the hospital, Patrick walks toward the Nurses’
Station and stops at the sight of his father, looking more dazed than usual,
walking out of the staircase… the same one he just saw Robin run into with
such energy. Noah doesn’t even see Patrick and walks right pass him. Something
was wrong. It was Robin. Patrick runs toward the staircase and begins his
journey up the stairs toward the roof, taking two sometimes three steps at a
time. He was ill-prepared for the sight in front of him. Robin was hugging her
knees rocking back and forth, hysterically crying, her soft sobs filling the
late night air. Patrick had no idea at all what had happened. All he knew was
that he had to make it better. He had to stop her from sounding like that…
feeling like that. Patrick runs toward Robin and kneels down in front of her.
She couldn’t stop crying. It was weeks of exhaustion bringing her to the brink
of desperation… bringing her to the brink of an emotional breakdown. And
Patrick simply stared at her, not knowing what to do; it was like someone was
stabbing him repeatedly. He couldn’t take much more of watching her in pain
like this.)
Patrick (softly): Robin… look at me.
(Robin just shakes her head, not able to look at him.)
Patrick: Robin… please.
(Robin just shakes her head, burying her head further into her knees.)
Patrick: I want to help you. Please. Robin. Please.
(Robin finally looks up at Patrick and the sight of her face breaks his
heart. It shatters it into a million pieces.)
Patrick (softly): Robin…
Robin (barely audible): I am so sorry.
Patrick: For what? Robin, what in the world could you have possibly done?
(And with that, she started rocking all over again. He felt powerless…
completely powerless. And in that moment, he realized how much he wanted to take
away her pain. This was the woman he loved and her heart was breaking in front
of him. And he couldn’t do anything. So, Patrick shakes off his medical jacket
and wraps it around Robin then gently reaches out toward her and covers her hand
that is on one of her knees. Slowly Robin looks back at Patrick and wipes her
eyes. She had to gain her strength back… at least some of it for what she had
to say. She knew the next few words would change their relationship forever and
she needed all of her strength for that.)
Patrick (softly): Talk to me Robin, please.
(Robin stares down at her hands for what feels like an eternity then finally
looks back at Patrick, the man she fell in love with and went behind his back to
save his father… all now for nothing.)
Robin (emotionally): I am so sorry, Patrick.
Patrick: Robin, you aren’t making any sense at all. Why are you sorry?
(Robin reaches for the folder next to her and hands it to him.)
Robin: This is the case I’ve been working on.
(This wasn’t making any sense to Patrick. She was staring back at him.
Finally Patrick looks down at the folder in his hands and curiously opens it.
Suddenly, his eyes darken slightly and he can hear Robin faintly choke back
another cry as he reads the contents of the folder. Robin watches him flip
through the pages angrily, getting angrier by the moment. This couldn’t be
happening. Robin was the woman he fell in love with. The first woman he ever
trusted. In his heart. In his home. In his bed. She had been treating his father
behind his back for weeks! This couldn’t be real, but it was! There were pages
and pages of test results, of biopsy lab results, prescriptions, Robin’s own
notes. This was real. Finally he looks back at her. His eyes dark. He felt like
someone punched him and Robin couldn’t find any words. All she could do was
cover her mouth as an attempt to muffle the sound of her cry as it fell from her
mouth. It didn’t work. It didn’t matter though. Patrick’s eyes simply
darkened in anger.)
Patrick (accusingly): How long were you going to keep on lying to me?
Setting: General Hospital Roof
(Robin was wearing Patrick’s lab coat while hugging her knees as he stared
back at her with his eyes darkened in anger.)
Patrick (accusingly): How long were you going to keep on lying to me?
(Robin just looks down and shakes her head.)
Patrick: No! Look at me, Robin!
(Robin wipes her eyes then looks back at Patrick.)
Patrick (screams): HOW LONG?!?!
(Robin squeezes her eyes shut as Patrick’s roar fills the night air
surrounding them. She shakes her head.)
Robin (emotionally): It wasn’t like that. (Looks at him) I wanted to tell you,
Patrick.
Patrick: But you didn’t! (Emotionally) You didn’t, Robin! You let me go on
thinking that either my father wasn’t in pain or he was simply dying! Those
are two extremes, I know – but those were my extremes! (Shakes his head) How
could you do this to me?!?!
Robin: Noah told me that the only way he’d accept treatment was if I kept it
from you.
Patrick (appalled): And you went along with it?
(Patrick angrily leaps to his feet as Robin stares down at the ground.)
Patrick: Do you know how up front I’ve been with you?
(Robin just shakes her head as more tears fall from her eyes.)
Patrick: I’ve bled for you, Robin! BLED! (Angrily) I’ve shared things with
you that I’ve never shared with anyone… and you could go behind my back and
do this without even flinching!
(Robin quickly looks up at Patrick then leaps to her feet as well.)
Robin (upset): Does this look like I’m not flinching!?!? (Emotionally) I’ve
been killing myself to save your father!
Patrick: And I’ve asked you how many times, Robin – how many times have I
asked you what case were you working on? If I could help you? (Snaps) Damn it,
Robin! I opened up my home to you!
(Robin covers her mouth and begins to sob again.)
Patrick: I had you in my bed, Robin! (looks at her) I’ve been giving you
everything I have inside of me… things I didn’t even know I had. I don’t
even have words for how I feel right now…
Robin (emotionally): I’m sorry!
Patrick (hurt): And you chose my father over me. Over us.
(Robin moves toward Patrick and looks up at him.)
Robin: No! It wasn’t like that! I would never choose anything over us.
(Desperately) Patrick, your father was dying and he came to me. I couldn’t
turn him away. I couldn’t!
Patrick: And you couldn’t tell me? Not once? Drop me a clue?
Robin: I wanted to, but your father was stubborn. He told me that if I told you,
he would refuse treatment. He didn’t want to put you through any of this.
Patrick: Fine!
(Patrick walks away from Robin slightly.)
Patrick: You know, I almost expect this from him. My dad doesn’t exactly know
how I work, how I tick…
(Patrick turns around and looks Robin truly hurt.)
Patrick: But I thought you did.
(Robin looks down and wipes her eyes.)
Patrick: I thought you knew me.
(Robin slowly looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: I do. (Emotionally) And that’s why I was terrified of you finding out.
I knew this would happen. I knew this would tear you from my life. You would
feel hurt and betrayed. I knew it would be over… whatever we had would end.
(Patrick just looks away.)
Robin (clearly): But, I didn’t do this to hurt you, Patrick. I wanted to give
you back your father. I wanted to give something back to you for everything you’ve
given me.
(Patrick slowly looks back at her.)
Robin: I wanted to help you, Patrick. And I thought I could. I’m so sorry.
Patrick: So, what happened? What happened that finally made it okay for you to
tell me?
Robin: The deal from the very beginning was that I would treat Noah, find a drug
regimen for him that would help him, but the moment he got a liver… he told
you.
(Patrick’s eyes widen slightly.)
Patrick: He…
(Robin shakes her head and feels the tears coming on again.)
Robin: It was all for nothing, Patrick! Okay! It was all for nothing! (Throws
her hands up) Yes! Your father got the liver… and guess what? He’s refusing
it! (Hurt) So, THIS is what you got to miss out on.
(Patrick feels like someone punched him for the second time tonight. He
clenches his fists at the sides of his body.)
Patrick: He refused it?
(Robin covers her mouth and sobs again. Patrick finally looks back at her.)
Patrick: All of this… for nothing? The bastard refused it!?!? (Angrily) He
tears apart my life… our lives and refuses it!
Robin: I don’t know what to say.
Patrick: I can’t… I can’t deal with this.
(Patrick walks past Robin. She tries to reach for him, but he flinches his
arm away.)
Patrick: And I certainly can’t deal with you right now either.
(Robin’s mouth falls slightly as she watches Patrick leave the roof. She
closes her eyes and releases a held breath. In that one moment, Robin felt like
she had lost everything. Her entire world fell at her feet. Robin looks down and
attempts to regain her thoughts. She couldn’t. Her eyes finally find Noah’s
folder and she walks over to it. She kneels down quietly and picks up the fallen
contents. She quietly and neatly places each document back in its place. Her
somewhat shaking hands can feel her warm tears fall on them. Robin needed to
regain her composure and leave the hospital. She had to go home. There was no
reason for her to be here any longer tonight. Noah was certainly gone as was
Patrick. Robin needed to go home and figure out what she going to do next.)
Setting: Metro Court
(Patrick Drake angrily walks into the Metro Court. It was late. He walks
toward the elevator banks for a moment and debates going up to see his father.
He couldn’t deal with him. He couldn’t even look at him. Patrick had never
felt this angry in his life. He could feel the blood pumping through his veins,
his pulse jumping from his neck. He wanted to hit something or someone. That
wouldn’t be the answer. He didn’t want to go home either. Patrick slowly
walks over to the lobby and sits down on one of the couches. He exhales a deep
breath then looks up when he feels someone sit down next to him. It was Carly.
She looks back at him and sighs at the sight of him.)
Carly: What did she do?
Patrick (annoyed): What?
Carly: Robin. She did something, right?
Patrick: Mind your business, Carly.
Carly: Look, I promise to not say "I told you so" if you just tell me
what happened.
Patrick: Carly, why would I tell you anything?
Carly: Because I do care about what happens to you… or at least I’d like to
think that I do. (looks at him) I’m a good listener.
Patrick: When it concerns Robin… sure you are. You’d love for me to cut a
vein open for you tonight, wouldn’t you? I could give you some more ammunition
for the next time you see her.
(Carly looks taken back.)
Carly: Wow! She really did something big, huh?
(Patrick shakes his head.)
Patrick: Don’t you have kids to go home to?
Carly: Fine.
(Carly stands up and looks down at Patrick.)
Carly: I’ll go home. But, if you need anything…
Patrick: I need you to butt out of my life.
Carly: Why did you ever bother with Robin? I told you this would happen.
(simply) Patrick, I warned you.
(Patrick glares back at Carly one last time.)
Patrick: Carly, I swear if you don’t…
(Carly throws her hands up.)
Carly: I’m gone.
(Patrick watches Carly walk away from him and leave her hotel. He couldn’t
deal with her tonight on top of everything else. In one single moment, he had
lost both his father and the woman he was falling in love with. The last thing
he could deal with was Carly telling him, "I told you so" when she had
no idea what he was going through. No idea at all. Patrick leans back on the
couch and runs his hands through his hair. She would have no idea at all.)
Setting: Robin’s Apartment
(Robin slowly opens the door to her apartment and sighs exhausted as she
throws down her keys and purse. She quickly glances at her answering machine
then sighs inwardly at the sight of no new messages. Of course there weren’t.
Robin walks toward her bedroom and throws Noah’s files on her bed next to the
other dozen or so books and journals. She sighs as she looks around her bedroom.
Her apartment seemed so empty. So quiet. So much like her right now. It seemed
spent. Robin walks over to her bed and sees Patrick’s oversized T-shirt. She
smiles tearfully as she picks it up and slowly lifts it to her face. It still
smelled like him. Robin shakes her head then places it back on her bed next to
her journals. She couldn’t sleep. Robin walks back out to her living room and
debates if she should eat anything… even though she knew that she couldn’t.
Suddenly there’s a loud ringing sound that fills her entire apartment and
startles her. Who would even call her after midnight? Hoping that perhaps it was
Patrick or Noah, Robin picks up the phone hopeful.)
Robin: Hello?
Brenda: I didn’t wake you, did I?
(Robin freezes for a moment. It wasn’t either one of them. Breaking the
intense silence, Robin slumps to the floor and breaks out in heart wrenching
sobs.)
Brenda: Robin, honey… what is it?
Robin (crying): I ruined everything, Brenda. Everything!
Setting: The Lobby of the Metro Court
(It’s extremely late in the evening when Noah Drake finally walks through
the entrance of the Metro Court. He stops shortly at the sight of his son
staring back at him. Their eyes immediately lock as Patrick stands up. Noah, not
knowing what Patrick knows, simply walks over to his son.)
Noah: What’s going on?
(Patrick shakes his head angrily.)
Patrick: You are such a bastard.
(Noah nods.)
Noah: Robin told you?
Patrick: You left Robin sobbing uncontrollably on the General Hospital roof! Who
the hell does that? What type of man does that?
(Upon saying those words, Patrick doesn’t miss the fact that he indeed did
the same exact thing as well. It was in that moment, Patrick also realizes that
he was more furious at his father for treating Robin the way he did than
anything else.)
Noah: I’ll apologize to her.
Patrick: You’ll need to do more than apologize to her! She was killing herself
to save your sorry life!
Noah: Patrick, it wasn’t like that.
Patrick: Have you looked at her lately? She isn’t eating properly, sleeping…
and I thought she was just dedicated to some random case! Never did I think she
was just that dedicated to YOU.
(An enraged Noah looks back at his son.)
Noah: Dedicated to ME? You’re joking, right? Robin was dedicated to YOU! She
was helping me to help you! For some reason she thought you needed your father.
And you know what, Patrick? She wanted to tell you from the very beginning, but
I told her that if she told you… I’d refuse treatment.
Patrick (angrily): OH! So, you emotionally blackmailed her? Nice! Are you sure
that you need a liver and not a heart?
(Noah just looks down and shakes his head.)
Noah: I’ll talk to her. (looks at Patrick) Is she okay?
Patrick: I don’t know.
Noah: What do you mean? You said I left her a mess on the roof. Didn’t you
take her home?
(Patrick just looks away.)
Noah: You didn’t. (nods) Now, who’s the bastard?
(Patrick looks back at his father.)
Noah: She was trying to save my life, Patrick – not betray you!
Patrick: She should’ve told me.
Noah: If she did, I would’ve died. She’s been helping me, Patrick. Did she
tell you that my liver count increased?
(Patrick looks down. He was too ashamed to admit that he hadn’t even looked
at the lab results in the folder earlier. All he could see was his father and
Robin working behind his back and his own crushed ego on those pages.)
Noah: Robin is amazing. She concocted some sort of drug regimen that is bringing
up my liver count.
Patrick: Until a liver comes. (looks back at him) Right, Dad?
(Noah just looks away.)
Patrick: I’m sure that was part of Robin’s deal.
(Noah looks back at his son.)
Noah: You said it yourself… I don’t deserve the liver.
Patrick: No, I said you were a selfish bastard. I never said that you didn’t
deserve to live! There’s a big difference.
Noah: Funny… I don’t see the difference. (looks at his son) Clean up your
mess with Robin.
(Patrick shakes his head furiously as his father leaves him alone in the
lobby.)
Patrick: Screw you… clean up your own mess!
(Patrick holds his head as Noah leaves him alone in the empty hotel lobby. He
felt like his entire world was spinning out of control. And all he wanted was
some sort of stability. Someone to stop this crazy ride. Patrick had to go home.
He wasn’t going to find what he needed here. And today was long overdue to be
over.)
