Chapters 34-39
Setting: The Haunted Star
(It was the middle of the day and the boat was quiet. Luke Spencer is behind
the bar and looks up when Robin Scorpio walks into casino wearing a pair of
jeans and a white tank top. Luke smiles widely as he looks up from the bar.)
Luke: That was quick, Scorpio.
(Robin sighs as she walks toward the bar.)
Robin: I move fast.
(Luke smirks as Robin sits down across from him.)
Luke: I bet you do.
(Robin just stares back at Luke.)
Luke (laughs): Okay… want a drink?
Robin (dryly): As tempting as it sounds, I think I need to be sober for this
one.
Luke: What is it?
Robin: I’m assuming you know my dad is back in town.
(Luke just silently nods.)
Robin: And I’m assuming you also know that my mom is missing.
(Luke nods again.)
Robin (sighs): Do you know where I can find him?
Luke: If you want to hang around for a few minutes, I’m sure he’ll find his
way back here.
Robin: Of course.
(Luke looks up at Robin as he wipes down the bar.)
Luke: Now, what does that mean?
Robin: He’d do anything for you, Luke. You’re his best friend.
Luke: And you’re his daughter… his blood. He came back for you, Robin.
(Robin just shakes her head as Luke hands her a bottle of water.)
Robin: I’m not the same girl he left.
Luke: And he’s not the same man. (Pours himself a drink) Maybe you should cut
him some slack and call it even.
(Robin opens up her bottle of water.)
Robin: Call it even? There’s no even about it. (Simply) I’m his daughter,
Luke.
Luke: Robin, some men aren’t made out to be fathers.
(Robin lowers the cap of her water bottle onto the bar.)
Robin (bluntly): Then maybe some men shouldn’t have sex.
(Zing! Luke just stares back at Robin speechless. He finally picks his jaw
slightly and opens his mouth.)
Luke (straightly): And how is Junior Drake doing?
(Robin stands up slowly from the bar and looks back at Luke.)
Robin: If you happen to see my dad, just tell him that I couldn’t find my mom
either.
(Luke sighs as he looks back at Robin.)
Luke: I don’t want to argue with you, Robin. This thing between you and your
dad… it doesn’t have to affect us.
Robin: And it wouldn’t. (Shakes her head) But, I’m not going to just stand
by and let you make excuses for him. What he did was wrong. Letting me believe
he was dead was wrong. Making my mom chase after him when he should’ve been
the one to seek her out YEARS ago is wrong.
(Robin moves toward the bar and looks directly at Luke.)
Robin: And you and him both dropping some lame lines about how some men just
aren’t cut out for fatherhood – that’s just pathetic. You are both grown
men. And you were both grown men when you conceived your children. (Simply) Don’t
be a cop-out, Luke… and don’t make excuses for my father either.
(Robin turns around to leave but stops shortly when she sees Robert walk into
the entrance of the Haunted Star. Of course, he showed back up at Luke’s
casino.)
Robert: Robin.
(Robin looks back at her father and sighs.)
Robin: I couldn’t contact her.
(Robert simply nods.)
Robert: Okay… I’ll call my contacts and see what I can find out.
(Robin looks down at her feet.)
Robin (sighs): Okay.
(Robert stares back at his daughter. There was an awkward silence. Luke
breaks the silence by clearing his throat.)
Luke: I’m going to check on my shipments.
(Luke watches the two of them for a moment then walks toward the back of the
Haunted Star. Once they’re alone, Robin looks back at her father.)
Robin: Why did you make that comment about Patrick earlier?
(Robert walks further into the casino.)
Robert: Which one?
Robin: That I hardly know him and that I shouldn’t let him in my home.
(Robert smirks slightly.)
Robert: Looking for words of wisdom from dear old dad?
Robin (simply): Not quite.
Robert (sighs): Robin, I just don’t think now is a good time to start a new
relationship.
Robin: And why is that?
Robert: Because you don’t know the man, Robin!
Robin: I do know him. I know Patrick very well.
Robert: Because he was your doctor during the outbreak?
Robin (annoyed): My life didn’t stop when you left Port Charles, Dad. Patrick
and I continued to get to know one another.
Robert (sarcastically): I’m sure.
Robin (annoyed): If there’s something you want to say, just say it.
Robert: He is Noah Drake’s son.
Robin: Meaning?
Robert: Noah is a cad.
Robin: Noah was a cad.
Robert: Is, was… not much of a difference.
(Robin crosses her arms in front of her chest.)
Robin: What does Noah’s past behavior have to do with Patrick’s current
behavior?
Robert: The apple usually doesn’t fall far from the tree.
(Robin laughs as she shakes her head.)
Robin: Says the man who knows all about parenting.
Robert: Robin, you can deny it all you want… but you are my daughter as well
as your mothers. That stubborn streak, the joy you find in hitting below the
belt… those are all of our finest qualities combined.
(Robin shakes her head.)
Robert: And that is why you and Drake shouldn’t mix. He’s going to distract
you and it’s going to get messy.
(Robin walks toward her father.)
Robin: Distract me? Messy? (Looks at him) When’s the last relationship you
had? I am not going to take relationship advice from the man who didn’t even
have the common decency to tell either of his wives that he was alive.
Robert: I’m just trying to look out for you.
Robin: Well… I need you to look for my mother.
(Robin grabs her purse from the bar and walks out of the casino. Once she’s
gone, Robert tiredly rubs his face and Luke walks from the back of the bar.)
Luke (sighs): Where do we look first?
Setting: The Docks
(Robin Scorpio walks down the docks, almost shaking from anger. It almost
seemed unbelievable to her that only a mere twenty-four hours ago, she was on a
beach with Patrick Drake debating if they should go back to their room or go
scuba diving for the third time. Robin closes her eyes as she wraps her arms
around her body. Her eyes suddenly burst open when she hears Nikolas Cassidine’s
voice behind her.)
Nikolas: Long time, no see.
(Robin sighs as she turns toward her old friend.)
Robin (smiling): Hey Nikolas. How are you?
Nikolas: I should be asking you that. (Simply) You look like I normally do.
(Robin smiles slightly as she shoves her hands in her jeans and looks down at
her feet. Nikolas watches Robin. She looked beautiful. She was wearing a simple
white tank top and blue jeans; her hair was wavy. And she had a tan. She looked
absolutely beautiful.)
Robin (quietly): I had a rough day.
Nikolas: Want to share?
(Robin looks back up at Nikolas.)
Robin: The last thing you need is to hear my problems.
Nikolas: Why? Because I have so many of my own?
Robin: Nikolas, the last time I saw you… you were fighting with my boyfriend
in front of Kelly’s.
Nikolas (smirks): So, Patrick Drake is your boyfriend now?
(Robin finally smiles and she blushes slightly.)
Nikolas: Is he the cause of your rough day?
(Robin just shakes her head.)
Robin: My dad is back.
Nikolas: Again?
Robin: My mom… she’s missing.
(Nikolas sighs as he shoves his hands into his jeans as well.)
Nikolas: When’s the last time you heard from her?
Robin: My mother and I don’t really do the corresponding thing too well.
Nikolas (sighs): I’m sorry, Robin.
(Robin stares back out at the water.)
Robin: I feel so powerless. (Pauses) Yesterday, I felt like I had the whole
world in my hands. I had all the power. If I wanted to be with Patrick, I could
be. If I wanted to live with him, I could. If I wanted to be happy, I knew how
to. (Looks down) Then suddenly all in one moment, all my power was taken from
me. (Looks at him slowly) And now I’m scared all over again, Nikolas.
(Nikolas pauses for a moment to think then looks back at Robin.)
Nikolas: Where’s Patrick?
(Robin looks down at her feet.)
Robin: He went to check on his father.
Nikolas: Okay. You know that I don’t like Patrick Drake; you know that I don’t
like that he’s friends or whatever he is with Carly…
(Robin opens her mouth to protest, but Nikolas raises his finger to stop her
from talking.)
Nikolas: But, I don’t think whatever fear your father brought back into your
life should stop you from living your life.
(Robin looks down again.)
Robin: Patrick… (Looks back at Nikolas) he just got his father back. He has
his own problems, Nikolas. The last thing he needs is my family’s drama.
Nikolas: Maybe not. But, I am certain that he probably needs you. (Simply) And
your family’s baggage… that’s all a part of who you are. Take it from
someone who has plenty of family drama of their own to carry around.
Robin (tiredly): You know what? It’s not my dad, it’s not my family, it’s
not even Patrick – it’s me. I have trust issues. I know that. I’m working
on them, I really am… but then something happens and, BAM, I’m right back
there again.
(Robin runs her hands through her hair and sighs.)
Robin: And I’m not helping. I need to find my mom. I shouldn’t be standing
here on the docks feeling sorry for myself. It’s not helping her. (Sighs
again) It’s not helping anyone.
(Nikolas gently touches Robin’s shoulder and looks at her.)
Nikolas: It’s helping you. Robin, you can’t keep all of this bottled in. If
seeing your father brought out a whole bunch of emotions, let them out. (Simply)
Scream them out, if it’d help… but don’t leave them bottled in.
(Nikolas supportively smiles.)
Nikolas: And now that you have somewhat… maybe you should find your boyfriend
that I can’t stand.
(Robin smiles as she looks down again.)
Nikolas: And if you need any help finding your mom, you know where I am.
Robin (looks at him): Thanks Nikolas.
(Robin sighs as she watches Nikolas walk toward the launch leading to
Wyndemere. He was right. She had to let her fears out. There was no way she
could get over them, if she didn’t face them. Robin reaches for her purse. She
needed to see Patrick. Just as Robin is about to take out her cell phone to call
him, she feels a large hand on her waist. Robin turns and smiles as she stands
face to face with Noah Drake.)
Robin (smiles): Hey!
Noah (smiles): Welcome back from vacation.
Robin: Thank you. I thought you would be with Patrick.
Noah: I was. I just left him actually. We grabbed a burger at Kelly’s.
(Robin just nods then looks at Noah and smiles.)
Robin: You look good.
Noah: I feel good. (Sighs) I wish I could say the same for you.
(Robin looks down quietly.)
Noah: I mean, you look well-rested and you look tan. (She looks up at him) But,
your eyes… they look sad.
(Robin shakes her head.)
Robin: It’s not Patrick.
Noah: I didn’t think so. He’s absolutely beaming.
(Robin has to smile slightly.)
Robin: He is?
Noah: He said that your vacation was amazing.
Robin (nods): It was.
Noah: So amazing… that he mentioned that he might not be home tonight.
(Robin blushes as she looks down at her feet. Noah just smiles brightly and
shoves his hands into his jeans.)
Robin: Did he?
Noah: He may have mentioned that small detail.
(Robin looks back at Noah.)
Robin: Did he mention anything else?
Noah (sincerely): Just that he was as happy as he looked.
(Robin smiles.)
Robin: Good. (Softly) I should probably head home, right? (Smiles) It’s good
seeing you, Noah.
Noah: You too, Robin.
(Noah Drake watches Robin walk down the docks back toward town. He sighs
slightly. Something was on her mind. That much was obvious. However, Noah had a
feeling that his son could get to whatever was on her mind and be able to make
it better.)
Setting: Robin’s Apartment
(It’s later in the day. Robin walks up to her apartment door and sighs. She
slowly digs in her purse for her keys then opens her door. She stops shortly
when she sees her entire room surrounded by candles and hears light music
playing throughout the apartment. Robin closes her door slowly as Patrick
appears from the back of her apartment dangling his key from his long finger.)
Patrick: I had such plans for us this afternoon.
(Robin’s face softens immediately at the sight of Patrick and she walks
toward him and hugs him tightly.)
Robin: Thank you so much for being here.
(Patrick pulls away from Robin slightly and looks back at her.)
Patrick: Where else would I be?
(Robin just silently stares back at Patrick with such honest eyes that simply
took his breath away. He smiles slightly and uses his thumbs to wipe away any
tears that started to reveal themselves. He scoots down slightly to look at
her.)
Patrick: Do you want to talk about it?
(Robin simply shakes her head then hugs Patrick again, but tighter this
time.)
Robin: I just want to be with you.
(Patrick tenderly kisses the top of Robin’s head as she closes her eyes and
nestles further into his arms.)
Robin: You feel so good.
(Patrick simply rubs her back then looks down toward her. She pulls away
slightly and looks back up at Patrick. Robin loved this man so much. It took her
breath away. She slowly reaches up and touches his face.)
Robin (simply): I’m serious… I just want to be with you.
(Patrick leans down toward her as Robin stands on her tiptoes and gently
kisses him. He moans slightly as she pulls him closer toward her. Patrick could
feel her need… and he simply let her have him. He feels her hands move to his
shirt then quickly undoes each button without ever removing her lips from his.
That was a talent that continued to mesmerize him… as well as her talent to
walk them back toward her bedroom without bumping into one solitary thing until
they hit her actual bed. Patrick sits down slowly on her bed as Robin stands in
front of him. She gingerly runs her hands behind his neck as she kisses him
softly on his chin… his cheeks. She loved kissing him. It was in those moments
she forgot all about her father, her mother… and just remembered them. Patrick
slowly falls back onto the bed with Robin. Whatever it was she needed, he wanted
to give it to her.)
Setting: The Haunted Star
(Robert Scorpio looks up from his glass of cognac and turns his attention to
his best friend.)
Luke: I called some contacts that I have.
Robert (nods): Thank you.
(Luke sighs slightly as he looks back at his best friend as he stares blankly
at the glass in his hands.)
Luke: You know… Robin is a Scorpio. She has all your best and worst qualities.
(Robert smirks slightly then looks back up at Luke.)
Robert: That’s what I’m afraid of. (Simply) She won’t ever forgive me if
something happened to her mother because of me… and I can’t say that I would
blame her.
Luke: Then, you’ll just have to play the hero and find her.
Robert: The last time I did that… the results weren’t exactly favorable.
Luke: Well, you said yourself that you’re older and wiser.
(Robert nods slowly. Something else was bothering him. Luke leans down on the
bar and studies his best friend for a moment.)
Luke: What is it?
Robert: Robin could be in danger, herself.
Luke: And you don’t think she realizes that?
Robert: No, she does… she’s not stupid. But, she’s distracted. And Patrick
Drake distracts her.
(Luke sighs as he steps back slightly from the bar.)
Luke: So, that‘s why you don’t like young Drake?
Robert (dryly): Not the only reason. (Looks at Luke) How long have I been away
from Port Charles? In that small amount of time, young Drake, as you called him,
has found a way not only into my daughter’s heart but into her bed. (Simply)
The man is nothing but a mere playboy.
Luke: To be fair, Robert – you don’t know him all that well.
Robert (flatly): I know enough. And besides his lothario ways, Robin needs to be
focused on her surroundings. She won’t let me put guards on her – heaven
forbid that…
Luke: Why does she need to know?
(Robert looks back at Luke.)
Robert: This is my daughter, Spencer. She’ll know, trust me.
Luke: Then, maybe you’re going about this all wrong. Maybe you don’t put the
guards on her… maybe someone she trusts does. (Sighs) Since your return, have
you spoken to your little brother, Commissioner Scorpio?
Robert: That’s a whole other can of worms I’m not ready to deal with.
Luke (thinks): So, maybe it’s not Bubba. Look, my son is a cop and he’s
good. I can ask him to keep an eye out for Robin.
Robert: If she lets him.
Luke (smiles): Oh, Robin likes Lucky… she’ll let him. (Shakes his head) I
don’t know… something about Scorpios and Spencers – they mix well.
Setting: Robin’s Bedroom in her Apartment
(It’s late in the evening. The entire apartment is eerily quiet. The only
sound that could be heard is the distant sound of boats along the Port Charles
River. Patrick Drake is sleeping soundly with a slight smile on his face. Robin
turns slightly and studies the features of her boyfriend. He was beautiful. It
took her breath away how amazingly beautiful he was. She could watch him for
hours; simply watch him… at least she usually could. Tonight was different.
Every time she looked at Patrick for too long, she heard her father’s harsh
words in her mind: "Robin, you can deny it all you want… but you are my
daughter as well as your mothers. That stubborn streak, the joy you find in
hitting below the belt… those are all of our finest qualities combined. And
that is why you and Drake shouldn’t mix. He’s going to distract you and it’s
going to get messy." Robin forces her eyes shut and lies flat on her back,
pushing back her hair. What would Patrick distract her from? Her sorrow? Her
loss? The never-ending disappointments surrounding her? She couldn’t think of
this. She couldn’t let her father’s words penetrate her mind. Robin sits up
slowly, pushes her hair back again then looks around her dark bedroom. She had
just made love to the man she adores with her entire heart. That cannot be a bad
thing. Robin turns her head again slightly and looks at Patrick sleeping over
her shoulder. Maybe it wasn’t him. It was her. Was she her parent’s
daughter? Robert Scorpio and Anna Devane – the couple that legends were made
of. Robin thought they had the perfect love; were partners in every sense of the
word… but in the end, they didn’t have trust. Just like her and Jason didn’t
have trust in the end. That couldn’t happen to her and Patrick. Could it?
Robin shakes her head then turns her gaze away from Patrick. She closes her eyes
again and feels fresh tears fall from her face. She hated crying. She absolutely
hated it… because once she started, she didn’t know how to stop. Robin
covers her face with her hands and the thin sheet that was covering her body
fell from it. Soon her entire bedroom was filled with the sound of her sobs, no
matter how hard she tried to muffle them. Patrick slowly awakens from his
slumber and attempts to adjust his senses to his surroundings. His first sense
to awaken was his hearing… then his sight. Robin was crying. He sits up
quickly, letting the sheet covering him fall to his waist, and he immediately
reaches toward her.)
Patrick (softly): Hey...
(Robin looks up slightly as she feels Patrick’s warm hand touch her back.)
Patrick: What is it?
(Patrick scoots closer to Robin and gently kisses her bare shoulder.)
Patrick: Talk to me, Robin… what is it?
(Robin looks down then turns around slowly and looks at him. She wipes her
eyes.)
Robin: I’m sorry.
(Patrick looks back at Robin, like she’s crazy, and shakes his head. He had
to be still sleeping.)
Patrick: You’re sorry? For what? Crying?
Robin: This isn’t what you expected to come back to after our vacation. (Looks
down) I mean, we spend an amazing week together and come back to…
(Patrick gently lifts Robin’s face and looks back at her.)
Patrick: To your father telling you that your mom is missing. (Simply) It’s
okay to be scared, Robin. And it’s okay to let me know that you’re scared.
Robin (emotionally): I just don’t know what to do. I can’t lose her,
Patrick. (Shakes her head) I can’t imagine losing her again.
(Patrick carefully looks back at Robin.)
Patrick: Then, we’ll figure out how to find her.
Robin: My dad is… he’s supposed to be on it.
Patrick: Okay.
(Patrick slowly pulls Robin toward him and holds her tightly.)
Patrick: Then, we’ll wait together to hear anything. (Looks at her) What else
is it? There’s more.
(Robin looks down at Patrick’s arms around her.)
Robin (slowly): My dad doesn’t think we should be together.
(Patrick’s head shoots up slightly. He attempts to remain cool.)
Patrick: Really? Did he give a reason?
Robin: He thinks we’ll end messy.
(Patrick takes a deep breath, really attempting to remain calm.)
Patrick: End?
(Robin looks down at Patrick’s arm again and slowly runs her fingers over
his skin.)
Robin: I don’t want us to end up like my parents, Patrick. They were both so
strong-willed… too strong-willed for their own good, maybe, and they hurt each
other so much in the end.
(Patrick turns his head and looks at Robin.)
Patrick: Robin, I won’t tell you that I’m not strong-willed or that you aren’t
either… but I would like to think that we’d use our stubbornness to keep us
together.
Robin: And the trust issues? My parents obviously had those too.
Patrick (slightly taken back): I wasn’t aware we had any.
(Robin looks down again.)
Patrick: Robin, I don’t know what your father told you or what his intentions
are, but he doesn’t know me and, I’m sorry Robin, but he hasn’t known you
for quite some time either.
(Robin nods slowly.)
Robin: I know. You’re right.
Patrick (firmly): I know I am.
(Robin finally laughs as she looks up toward Patrick.)
Robin: You are so confident.
Patrick: That’s why you love me.
(Robin smiles as she nestles further into Patrick’s arms.)
Patrick: And that is also why I’m not letting you go. (Looks down at her) I’m
not going to let anyone interfere with what we have.
Robin (softly): I know.
(There’s an awkward silence again until Robin turns around in Patrick’s
arms and looks back at him.)
Robin: I do believe in us, Patrick. More than I’ve believed in anything for a
very long time. (Genuinely) I love you with my entire heart. My only fear is
ever disappointing you.
Patrick: Then stop being afraid… because you disappointing me will never
happen.
(Robin sighs then moves closer to Patrick and slowly wraps her arms around
his neck. She kisses his neck softly as she nestles firmly into his lap.)
Robin: Sorry I woke you up.
Patrick: Not a problem.
(Robin rests her head on his shoulder as she draws designs on his chest with
her fingers.)
Robin (tiredly): We have work tomorrow.
Patrick (smiles): Hey, I know something that will cheer you up.
(Robin looks up slightly.)
Robin: What?
Patrick: Papa Drake told me that his first consult in the morning is with a
certain brilliant brunette doctor.
(Robin smiles as she bites her bottom lip.)
Robin: Dr. Lee?
Patrick (kisses her cheek): I said brilliant.
(Robin hits Patrick laughing.)
Robin: Patrick!
Patrick: He was practically beaming with pride when he told me that he got you
on your first day back.
Robin (sighs): Noah is such a good doctor.
Patrick (lightly): Here we go again. Should I break out in "he’s a jolly
good fellow?"
Robin: Noah is a brilliant doctor. (She looks at him) And he has an amazing
bedside manner. Have you seen him with his patients?
Patrick (smirking): Are you knocking my bedside manner?
Robin: Well…
Patrick: You are so going to regret those words, Scorpio.
(Robin squeals with laughter as Patrick flips her onto her back and tickles
her relentlessly. It was amazing – the sound of unadulterated laughter fills
the same air where only a few mere moments ago sobs did. Robin smiles. Patrick
Drake did have an amazing bedside manner.)
- The Next Day
Setting: General Hospital
(Robin Scorpio and Patrick Drake walk out of the elevators, side by side,
each with their own cup of coffee in their hands. Elizabeth Spencer immediately
looks up from the Nurses’ Station and smiles widely.)
Liz: You’re back!
(Robin glances up at Patrick and smiles as they walk toward the Nurses’
Station.)
Robin: Hey Liz.
Liz (leans in): So, how was it?
Robin: The trip? Amazing!
(Liz steps back and looks at them.)
Liz: Nice tan.
Patrick: Thank you… my skin always takes well to the sun.
(Robin rolls her eyes slightly as she reaches for her schedule.)
Liz: I was actually referring more to Robin.
(Robin bursts out laughing as Patrick looks back at Liz and glares slightly
toward her.)
Patrick (flatly): Of course you were.
Liz (smiles): I’m just joking… you both look good. (Leans in) So, I want
details! (Smiles) How was the shopping?
Patrick: That is my cue to start my rounds.
(Patrick kisses Robin on the cheek then leans in toward her ear.)
Patrick: Meet me in the locker room around noon.
(As Patrick pulls away, Robin looks at him.)
Robin (smiles): For lunch?
Patrick: Yeah, that too.
(Robin blushes slightly as Liz watches them. Patrick walks down the corridor
toward his first patient.)
Liz: You two look good.
Robin: We are. (Looks at Liz) Hey… thanks for all your help about what to
pack.
Liz: Do not even mention it. (Smiles) So… tell me, was it romantic?
(Robin bites her bottom lip and nods.)
Robin: Very.
Liz: Good! (Simply) See, I told you not to be nervous about the week-long
Drakefest.
(Robin shakes her head.)
Liz: Speaking of which… it looks like you are about to continue the Drake
overdose.
(Noah Drake slides next to Robin.)
Noah: Dr. Scorpio.
(Robin smiles as she looks back at Noah.)
Robin: Dr. Drake.
Noah: Are you ready for our first consult?
Robin: Always am. (Looks at Liz) Talk to you later, Liz.
(Robin and Noah start walking down the hall toward their first patient’s
room.)
Noah: So, you look better than you did yesterday.
Robin: Yeah… I was just… Patrick helped.
Noah (smiles): I thought he would. (Looks at her) Hey, want to do me a favor?
Robin: Sure.
Noah: Keep him out of his place every night.
(Robin laughs.)
Robin: Okay, how much did Patrick pay you for this?
(Noah clutches his chest pretending to look offended.)
Noah: I am not that easily bought!
Robin: What’s in it for you? Lemon poppy seed muffins? Stones’ tickets for
their zillionth comeback tour? What?
Noah: I just like having the place to myself.
Robin: You can always go back to your room at the Metro Court.
Noah: I could… but Patrick may have suggested that it is a slight possibility
that I could become the new resident of his current digs.
(Robin nods.)
Robin: Oh, did he?
Noah: Hey, but if it isn’t a possibility… I’d be happy to pack my flannel
shirts, jeans and tees and go back to the Metro Court.
(Noah turns to open the door of their patient. Robin gently touches his arm,
stopping him.)
Robin: Hey… not so fast.
Noah: So, I should wait on the packing?
Robin: Wait on the packing… just for a little bit.
Noah (smiles): Good. I really like the view from the kitchen.
Setting: The Northern Wing of the Hospital
(Patrick Drake is walking down the hallway with his arms filled with files
and test results. He couldn’t believe that he hadn’t been at work for almost
two months. Patrick did as much work as he could at home, but nothing prepared
him for the mounds of paperwork waiting for him when he checked his inbox. He
needed a good hour to just sift through the papers to find out what was
significant and what just another flier for a bake sale, or even less thrilling
another flier for some kid’s candy sale. Patrick turns the corner toward the
sun room. He had about forty-five minutes before his next appointment. He stops
shortly when suddenly Lucky Spencer appears coming from a hospital room and
leaps toward him.)
Lucky: Dr. Drake!
(Patrick looks back at Lucky somewhat taken back.)
Patrick: Officer Spencer.
Lucky: Do you have a moment?
Patrick (honestly): Not really.
(Now it was Lucky’s turn to look taken back.)
Lucky: You don’t?
Patrick: I have two months of paperwork to go through. I don’t have time. I’m
sorry.
(Patrick continues to walk toward the sun room then stops when Lucky steps
forward.)
Lucky (sighs): It’s about Robin.
(Lucky watches Patrick Drake turn around slowly and look back at him.)
Patrick: What about Robin?
(Lucky walks toward the doctor.)
Lucky: Her father asked me to keep an eye out for her. (Simply) I thought you
should know.
(Patrick’s eyes darken slightly.)
Patrick: So, her father thinks she’s in danger?
Lucky: He has nothing concrete. He just wants me to keep an eye out for her.
(Patrick sighs as he runs one of his hands through his hair while the other
attempts to keep a firm grip on the papers he was carrying. In this moment, he
wished that him and Robin did stay on the island like he had suggested. He can
even imagine their small medical practice in that moment. Patrick jumps from his
thoughts when Lucky continues.)
Lucky: For what it’s worth, I don’t think Robin’s in danger. Whatever mess
her parents are in, it’s bigger than her.
Patrick: How can you be sure about that?
Lucky: I can’t be… that’s why I wanted to speak to you. (Sighs) Look, I
have a job and a family. I can keep an ear out for anything in regards to Robin
and always try to check in with her, but I can’t be with her 24/7. I just
thought maybe you could help me out a bit. You know, make sure she’s not alone
too much, doesn’t walk to her car alone at night… things like that.
(Patrick just stares back at Lucky. Is he for real? It was almost like he was
telling him how to keep his own girlfriend safe?!?!)
Patrick (strongly): I always look out for Robin, danger or not.
Lucky: I’m sure you do. Liz tells me that you two got pretty close in the last
few months. (Simply) That’s good. Robin’s a very old friend of mine and I
just want her to be happy. Happy and safe.
(Lucky sighs as he forces his hands into his jeans.)
Lucky: Look, I’m sorry to have interrupted you. Get back to your paper work.
(Patrick waves his hand.)
Patrick: No, wait… don’t apologize. (Awkwardly) I’m sorry for… getting
defensive. It’s just not everyday you hear that your girlfriend is in danger
and that a cop has to keep an ear out to see if something is going to happen to
her. (Pauses) It’s not something I’m use to hearing.
Lucky; Or me saying, trust me. (Thinks for a moment) Robin worked so hard to get
out of a dangerous life where she was ducking bullets, bombs and guards.
(Patrick watches Lucky’s mouth moving and his words start blurring
slightly. He was referring to the life she led with Jason Morgan.)
Lucky: For all the years I’ve known her, all Robin’s ever wanted was to be a
doctor and live a safe and simple life. (Laughs) It’s not a coincidence that I’m
a cop and she’s a doctor. You know, our parents… they wanted to save the
world. Their tactics just risked a lot of lives and Robin and I both chose a
safer route. (Simply) I just want to make sure that none of that is taken away
from her.
(Lucky watches the color somewhat drain from Patrick’s face. He didn’t
mean to cause him any sort of alarm.)
Lucky: Hey Patrick… you know, that bookcase in her living room? It took me
about an hour to put it together and about three hours to place all of her books
on it. Robin’s a smart woman, Patrick, and she can take care of herself. It
just doesn’t hurt to have help sometimes, you know?
(Patrick nods.)
Patrick (distantly): Of course.
Lucky: Good. (Sighs) See you around, Dr. Drake.
(Patrick watches Lucky disappear down the hallway. He stares blankly into the
distance then walks over to a nearby phone.)
Patrick: Please page Dr. Scorpio and ask her to report to the nurses’ station.
Setting: The Nurses’ Station
(Robin is standing at the Nurses’ Station with Liz and Noah laughing as
they flip through pictures on her digital camera.)
Robin (laughs): This is Patrick’s feeble attempt at building a sand castle.
(Noah and Elizabeth watch as Robin flips to the next picture.)
Robin: And this is my masterpiece.
Liz: Surgeon’s hands, my a…
(Before Liz can finish her sentence, Patrick appears next to them and looks
directly at Robin.)
Patrick (seriously): Can we talk?
(Robin looks up at Patrick smiling widely.)
Robin: Did I get the chance to show you this picture?
Patrick: You can show me later. (Looks at her) Can we talk, please?
(Robin immediately senses that something is wrong as does Noah and Liz. She
looks back at Liz and Noah.)
Robin: Excuse us for a moment.
(Patrick quickly guides Robin toward an empty hospital room. Once they’re
alone, she looks at him concerned.)
Robin: Patrick, what is it?
Patrick: Let’s go away.
(Robin looks at Patrick like he’s crazy.)
Robin: What are you talking about? We just came back from vacation.
(Patrick runs his hand through his hair as he looks around the empty room.)
Patrick: Just for a few days. We could rent a cabin or…
(Robin moves toward Patrick and gently touches his arm.)
Robin: Patrick, this is your first day back to work in almost two months. Even
for you, my brilliant neurosurgeon boyfriend, it’s going to take a while to
get back into it.
(Patrick looks back at Robin somewhat frustrated.)
Patrick: This isn’t about getting back into the swing of things, Robin.
(Pauses) I just… I want us to leave town.
Robin: And go where? And why?
(Patrick runs his hands through his hair then turns quickly toward Robin.)
Patrick (thinking): I have plenty of money saved. We could…
(Robin softly reaches for Patrick’s wrists and looks up at him.)
Robin (softly): Talk to me… what is this about?
(Patrick’s eyes lower. He gently releases his wrists from Robin then sits
down on the hospital bed. She stands directly in front of him and softly holds
his face in her hands.)
Robin: Talk to me, Patrick.
(Patrick slowly looks back at Robin.)
Patrick: I saw Lucky Spencer.
(Robin sighs as she suddenly realizes what this is all about. She lowers her
hands from Patrick’s face as she looks back at him.)
Robin: Lucky is just keeping an eye out for me, that’s all.
Patrick (snaps): That’s not all, Robin! Your father…
Robin (stops him): My father is overreacting, Patrick!
Patrick: Well, Lucky Spencer doesn’t seem to think so.
Robin: Patrick, come on… (Takes his hands) come on!
(Patrick finally looks back at her.)
Robin: I am fine. I am not running from my life… and you’re not running from
yours either.
(Patrick shakes his head and stares down at his hands.)
Robin: Patrick, I am done running. I’ve ran for longer than I can remember.
(He looks at her) Running from bad memories, bad experiences, broken hearts,
broken spirits… I’m done. (Runs her hand along his neck) All I want to do is
go home and be with you.
(And with that, Patrick is forced to smile a little. He grins slightly as he
looks back at her.)
Patrick: That’s all?
(Robin smiles as she wraps her arms around his neck.)
Robin: That’s all. (Kisses his neck) And I’ll be careful, I promise. For you…
I’ll be careful. (Looks at him) Now, can you please take me home?
Patrick (surprised): Are you done for the day?
Robin (smiles): Just some paperwork. I can do that in bed.
(Patrick laughs as he pulls Robin toward him.)
Patrick: If I get you in bed, you’re not doing paperwork.
Setting: Robin’s Apartment
(It’s later in the evening. Robin is in the kitchen cleaning up while
Patrick wipes up the table. They were sharing a quiet normalcy. It was nice. It
was comforting. Robin looks up from the sink as she wipes her hands on her
jeans.)
Robin: Oh! When you were in the shower, my Uncle Mac called.
Patrick: Uh-huh.
Robin (smiles): He wants us to come over for dinner.
Patrick: Oh.
Robin: And he said to bring your dad.
(Patrick straightens up slightly.)
Patrick: Really?
Robin: Scary thought, I know. Want to know something even scarier?
(Robin turns around slowly.)
Robin: I suggested we have the dinner here instead.
(Robin blocks her face as if she’s waiting for Patrick to throw something
at her. When he doesn’t, she slowly uncovers her face.)
Robin (laughs): What? No groaning? No eye-rolling?
Patrick: Robin, this is your apartment… you could invite whoever you want over
for dinner.
(Robin leans back on her sink and watches Patrick straighten up her table.)
Robin: Would you be attending?
(Patrick looks up smirking.)
Patrick: If I don’t have better plans.
(Robin shrugs slightly then turns around and goes back to washing the
counter.)
Robin: Well, it really was just a courtesy invite since my uncle really thinks I’m
dating the other Dr. Drake, anyway.
(Patrick’s mouth falls as he runs over to Robin laughing.)
Patrick: Oh, that’s it!
(Robin squeals laughing as Patrick grabs her and turns her around in his
arms. He grabs her by her waist as she raises her soapy hands and wraps them
around his neck.)
Patrick: You are so going to get it.
Robin (laughing): Patrick, stop!
Patrick: Nope! Come on!
(Patrick picks Robin up with ease and carries her into her bedroom both
laughing the entire time.)
Robin (laughing): I’m sorry… I’m sorry…
(Patrick gently lowers Robin onto the bed and stares down at her as he hovers
over her.)
Patrick: Really?
Robin (laughing): Cross my heart… so sorry!
Patrick: Why don’t I believe you?
(Robin smiles as she reaches up toward Patrick.)
Robin (smiling): Noah, I mean, Patrick, I’m all yours.
(Patrick’s mouth falls in a smile as Robin bursts out laughing again. She
squeals loudly as Patrick starts to ruthlessly tickle her.)
Robin (laughing): Patrick, stop!
Patrick: Oh, now you know my name!
Robin: Aah… Patrick!
(Patrick lowers himself slightly and finds a spot on Robin’s neck that he
needs to kiss. She sighs contently as she runs her fingers through his hair.
Patrick was amazing…)
Robin (sighs): Stay tonight... please.
(Patrick raises his head and looks down at Robin.)
Patrick: Oh, I had no intentions of going anywhere.
(Robin smiles as she softly bites her bottom lip and Patrick leans back over
her and she pulls his shirt from his jeans. Throwing the shirt to the side of
the bed, Robin closes her eyes contently. She loved the touch of his hands. He
was so warm. Robin sighs softly then decides to open her eyes. She wanted to see
everything; to feel each and every feeling going through her body. She wanted it
to be ingrained in her mind forever. She wanted to remember how Patrick’s body
felt on top of hers, how strong his back felt as she ran her hands along it. He
was perfect. And he was hers. Robin reaches up slightly and kisses Patrick’s
bare shoulder as his hands explored her entire body. He was unbelievable.)
Robin (softly): I love you, Patrick.
(Patrick moves his kisses back to Robin’s mouth and she gasps almost
unexpectedly. He loved when she made that noise. It amazed him how one noise
could unsettle him. Actually everything about him and Robin amazed him. It
amazed him how they fit so perfectly together. She was so small… so small that
he was afraid of crushing her, but he didn’t. However it didn’t stop him
from treating her as if she was the most delicate thing in the world… and she
was, at least in his world. He never handled a woman with such care before. He
put her wants and needs before his own… and that alone made him realize how
deep his feelings were for her. Patrick found himself doing things he never did
in bed, like kissing Robin’s forehead. He never kissed a forehead in his life!
And now he couldn’t get enough of kissing hers while they were joined
together. It seemed sweet. It seemed intimate. That was the word he could use to
describe his relationship with Robin – intimate. She was cherished. So very
cherished. Patrick leans down and gently kisses Robin’s forehead. He wanted to
remember every single thing about this night.)
- Several Days Later
Setting: General Hospital Locker Rooms
(The last few days have been quiet ones for Robin Scorpio and Patrick Drake.
They slowly got back into the routine of things. Patrick went back to being the
brilliant neurosurgeon he is and Robin went back to being the compassionate,
amazing doctor she is. Lucky Spencer, being Lucky Spencer, checked in with Robin
regularly to see how she was and if she had noticed anything odd around her. She
was happy to tell him she hadn’t. Patrick Drake was happy about that as well.
He was starting to feel embarrassed for the way he overreacted when Lucky told
him that he was keeping an eye out for Robin. He was ready to rent, no actually
buy, them a cabin in some secluded area and keep them there safely until this
mess with Robin’s family died down. Robin had called her cousin, Aidan, in
Pine Valley and he was now also on the case looking for her mother. To further
find some answers, Robert Scorpio and Luke Spencer disappeared once again… and
of course left not one single clue as to where they were heading. Robin couldn’t
think of this right now. As much as thoughts of her mother invaded her mind
constantly, she had to live her life. There was really nothing she could do.
Sighing, Robin Scorpio opens her locker as Patrick Drake opens his a few feet
away. He turns his head and watches her for a moment. Her mind was going a mile
a minute. He could tell just by a sideways glance. Robin, feeling his eyes on
her, looks up and smiles toward him. She’s about to reassure him that she’s
fine when suddenly her cell phone begins to ring loudly. Robin gestures toward
Patrick that she’ll continue her thought in a moment then reaches into her
locker.)
Robin: Hello?
Robert: How are things?
(Robin sighs loudly as she sits down on the bench in front of her locker.)
Robin: Have you found her?
Robert: That’s the reason I’m calling you. One of my contacts believes that
they may have seen your mother in Italy.
Robin: Recently?
Robert: This morning.
(Robin looks down and nods.)
Robin: Okay.
Robert: I’ll keep you updated.
Robin (quietly): Thank you.
Robert (frankly): You sound tired.
(Robin rubs her forehead tiredly.)
Robin: I am.
Robert: Not getting enough sleep? Working too hard?
Robin (softly): More like worrying too much.
Robert: My contacts are good. If they said that they saw your mother, they
probably did.
(Robin looks down and sighs loudly as she wipes her eyes.)
Robin (emotionally): I just want her found. I don’t care how or by who… I
just need to know that she’s safe.
Robert: Robin, don’t jump to the worst conclusion, please don’t forget that
there is a good chance that your mother is just simply in deep cover.
(Robin nods quietly.)
Robert: And for now, hold on to the fact that we may have a lead in Italy.
Robin: I will. (Pauses) Thank you for calling me.
(Robert pauses awkwardly.)
Robert: Robin, you’re my daughter and I love you. (Awkwardly) And… uh… I
understand very well the depth of a parent’s love. Your mother will fight to
survive. She always has, just as I have, and we do so for you.
(Robin chokes back a slight sob as she nods.)
Robert: Take care, luv.
(Robin hears her father end their conversation and slowly closes her own cell
phone. She jumps slightly when she suddenly feels Patrick’s hand on her back.
She didn’t even know he was sitting next to her.)
Patrick: What did he say?
Robin: They have a lead on my mom. (Looks at him) And that he loves me.
(Robin stands up slowly and walks back over to her locker.)
Robin: And I believed him. For the first time, I believed him. (Sighs) Go
figure. My dad really does love me.
(Patrick watches Robin quietly then slowly stands up and walks over to her.
He gently wraps his arms around her waist and kisses her neck delicately.)
Patrick: How could he not?
(Robin smiles as she leans back slightly into Patrick’s arms.)
Robin: You’re biased.
Patrick: No… just brilliant.
(Robin rolls her eyes slightly as Patrick tilts his head and looks at her
slightly.)
Patrick: Let’s try to leave early tonight, okay?
(Robin nods.)
Patrick: You didn’t think I noticed, but you woke up especially early this
morning.
Robin: I couldn’t sleep. (Turns around and looks at him) And I didn’t want
to wake you.
Patrick: You could’ve.
Robin: Yeah, but why should both of us suffer? (Sighs) One of us should be
getting the proper amount of sleep.
Patrick: Well, then it should be you.
(Robin simply kisses Patrick on the cheek then goes back to placing items in
her locker. She turns around slightly when she hears the door opening and soon
sees Elizabeth Spencer. Liz walks toward them covering her eyes with one hand as
the other reaches out in front of her.)
Liz: Okay, I don’t want to be accused of interrupting anything… so please
let me know if it’s safe to uncover my eyes.
Patrick: If you don’t want to interrupt, why did you decide to come in
unannounced?
(Robin glares at Patrick then pulls Liz’s hand away from her eyes.)
Robin: Of course you can uncover your eyes.
Liz (laughs): Thank you. (Looks at Robin) I actually came looking for you. There
have been a few changes in the schedule because some of the doctors have been
called away. Just make sure to pick up a new copy.
Robin (smiles): Thank you.
Patrick: What about me? I don’t get the new schedule?
(Liz smiles as she turns toward Patrick.)
Liz: Oh, I thought you enjoyed wandering around the halls of General Hospital
looking all lost and confused.
(Patrick simply stares back at Liz, clearly not amused.)
Liz: You’re in surgery for most of the day. Your schedule wasn’t affected.
Patrick: Thank you, NURSE Spencer.
(Robin stifles a laugh as she turns back to her locker. Liz ignores Patrick’s
glare and moves toward her.)
Liz: Since Patrick, here, is in surgery all day… what do you say about me and
you grabbing lunch together?
Robin: Oh, I would… but I already have lunch plans. Sorry.
Patrick & Liz (simultaneously): With who?
(Robin smirks as she reaches for her lab coat.)
Robin (nonchalantly): Oh, with Officer Spencer.
(Robin smiles toward Liz.)
Robin: He called me this morning when I was getting ready. You were already
gone, but he wanted to take both of us out.
Liz (smiles): Oh! I love my husband.
Patrick (dryly): Yeah, we all do. I didn’t get an invite?
(Robin walks over to Patrick and kisses him softly.)
Robin: You’re in surgery all day, remember? (Looks at him) I’ll get you some
takeout.
(Patrick rolls his eyes as Robin and Liz both laugh. For the first time in a
long time, Robin felt normal. She smiles. Robin liked normal.)
Setting: An Empty Examination Room
(It’s later in the day. Robin Scorpio breezes past a few nurses and smiles
politely then turns toward exam room #3. She had an appointment with Alan for
her normal, routine checkup. She opens the door and jumps back slightly when she
sees Noah Drake flipping through some charts.)
Robin (surprised): Noah!
(Noah turns around and smiles.)
Noah: Hey Robin.
Robin: I’m sorry. I thought I was supposed to meet Alan here.
Noah: You were. Alan was one of the doctors that had to go to that emergency
conference.
Robin: Oh.
Noah: He asked me to cover for him.
Robin: Oh okay.
Noah: Only if you don’t mind.
(Robin smiles as she moves toward the examination table.)
Robin: Of course not. This is just my routine check-up.
Noah (smiles): Good.
(Robin slowly sits on top of the table as Noah stands in front of her
preparing the needles to take her blood.)
Noah: I’m actually kind of happy to be doing this.
Robin (smiles): And why’s that?
Noah (looks up at her): I finally get the chance to treat you and not the other
way around.
Robin (laughs): Oh yes! Lucky you!
(Noah smiles as he looks back down, then easily starts taking Robin’s
blood. She watches him quietly.)
Robin: So, did Patrick mention that I wanted to have you and my uncle over for
dinner?
Noah: No, but he did mention something about me choosing new paint colors for
the bedrooms.
(Robin rolls her eyes slightly as she laughs.)
Noah: My son is pretty confident that you’re going to let him move in soon.
(Robin looks back at Noah.)
Robin: I guess, I could thank you for that.
(Noah smiles as he with ease starts to fill another tube with Robin’s
blood.)
Noah: Patrick is my son – there’s no denying that. (Looks up at her) Lucky
for you, he’s also his mother’s son.
(Robin smiles. She really did like Noah Drake. She watches as he places her
last vial in his lab jacket.)
Noah: The lab is a little backed up today because of the smaller staff. So, why
don’t we meet up later to go over your test results?
Robin: Sounds good.
Noah: Uh… Alan called in your prescription this morning, so that you can pick
up anytime.
Robin: Perfect.
Noah (smiles): You know, I really liked being your doctor, Robin.
Robin (smiles): Well, I really liked being your patient, Dr. Drake. You have a
remarkable bedside manner.
Noah (laughs): I’ll be sure to tell my son you said that.
Robin (laughs): Please don’t… that’s a somewhat sore subject for us.
Noah: It’ll be our secret then.
(Robin laughs as Noah helps her from the examination table.)
Noah: So, we’ll meet later?
Robin: I’ll bring the coffee. (Smiles) Thanks Noah.
(Robin walks out of the examination room and starts toward the Nurses’
Station. She stops shortly when she sees Patrick Drake walking back toward the
O.R. for his second surgery of the day wearing his scrubs underneath his lab
coat. She looks around quickly then runs toward the surgery wing. Robin opens
the door quietly and stops when she sees Patrick scrubbing in. She stands in the
doorway and simply watches him. Patrick Drake is an amazing doctor; amazing
surgeon… an amazing man who simply amazed her. Patrick stares down at his
hands as he scrubs them clean, obviously deep in thought. Robin simply watched
him. She watches as he raises his head slowly. A small grin forms on his face.)
Patrick: Are you just going to watch? Or are you going to scrub in?
(Robin smiles as she looks down at her feet.)
Robin: I’m just observing your brilliant scrubbing.
(Patrick turns around and smiles widely as he dries his hands.)
Patrick: Why are you standing all the way over there?
Robin: I don’t want to contaminate your O.R. – and I know how much you hate
rescrubbing.
Patrick (smiles): A moment with you is worth the risk of dry hands from too much
scrubbing.
(Robin laughs loudly as she shakes her head.)
Robin: I have to meet Liz and Lucky for lunch. (Smiles) I just wanted to see you
before I left.
(Patrick smirks as he stands mere feet from Robin with his hands firmly on
his hips.)
Patrick: So, you rather have lunch with a boring married couple than make out
with me?
(Robin laughs as she shakes her head.)
Robin: First of all, you have surgery in (looks at her watch) ten minutes and
second of all, you know that kissing you is way up on my list of things I love
to do.
(Patrick smiles widely then sprints over to Robin and picks her up. She
laughs loudly as he leans in and kisses her again and again. She was exactly
what he needed. Neither wants to pull apart, but Robin does first and she looks
directly at him as her arms are wrapped firmly around his neck.)
Robin: You’re going to have to rescrub.
Patrick: And you’re going to have to kiss me again.
(Robin leans in to kiss Patrick then stops a mere millimeter from him.)
Robin (softly): I love you, Patrick Drake. And don’t forget it, ever.
(Patrick smiles as Robin leans in and kisses him again. Both moan slightly as
Robin deepens the kiss then pulls away slowly when they hear a clearing throat
behind them. It was Nurse Bobbie Spencer. Robin’s face reddens slightly as
Patrick lowers her.)
Bobbie: I thought you would’ve been scrubbed in already, Dr. Drake.
(Patrick wipes Robin’s lip gloss from his lips smirking slightly.)
Patrick: Dr. Scorpio was just wishing me luck.
Bobbie (rolls her eyes): Nice.
(Bobbie walks past them and toward the operating room. Once she’s gone,
Robin looks at Patrick and covers her face.)
Robin: Okay, now that was embarrassing!
Patrick: She’s just jealous.
(Robin uncovers her face and looks directly at Patrick.)
Robin: Why?
Patrick: You were kissing a Drake… and she is nowhere near kissing one.
(Robin shakes her head then hits Patrick.)
Robin: Go scrub.
Patrick (smirks): Go eat.
(Patrick kisses Robin again quickly again then looks directly at her.)
Patrick: I love you too.
(Robin smiles.)
Robin: I know. (Simply) Good luck with your surgery.
(Patrick walks back toward the sink with the biggest grin on his face. Robin
watches him for a moment then leaves. She heads straight toward the Nurses’
Station and toward Elizabeth Spencer.)
Robin: Ready for lunch?
Liz: Hey Robin… I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to have to cancel on
you and Lucky.
Robin: Why? What happened?
Liz: Grams called. Cameron isn’t feeling well and I thought that I would check
on him during my lunch hour.
Robin: Oh go!
(Robin looks up as Lucky Spencer approaches the Nurses’ Station smiling
widely.)
Lucky: I am definitely a lucky man.
Robin: Actually maybe not.
Liz: Honey, Cam isn’t feeling well and I’m going to go to Grams’ and check
on him.
Robin (to Lucky): And you should go too! Besides, I have about a dozen errands
to run myself.
Lucky: Errands? What errands?
Robin: I have to pick up my prescription, get some stuff from my apartment and…
Liz: Lucky will go with you.
Lucky: I will?
Liz: Yes! Cam probably just needs some rest. You two have lunch. (Smiles) Have
fun!
Robin: Let me just grab my purse.
(Once Robin’s gone, Lucky looks at his wife.)
Liz: Get some good scoop for me on Patrick Drake.
Lucky: Oh yeah, I can’t wait to do the whole "girl talk" thing with
Robin.
Liz: I’m serious! Robin is really happy! (Smiles) Maybe you can find out why.
(Leans in) I caught her this morning dropping off some pictures to get developed
and…
Lucky (kisses his wife): And you are taking this matchmaking thing too
seriously.
(Robin approaches the Nurses’ Station.)
Robin: I’m back! (Smiles) And you are SO going to regret coming along with me
to run these errands.
(Elizabeth simply laughs as Robin grabs Lucky’s arm and pulls him toward
the elevator laughing.)
Liz (laughing): Torture him, Robin!
(And that was the last thing Lucky heard before the elevator doors closed and
he was officially in Robin Scorpio’s world. He turns his head slowly and
notices her immediately opening her purse revealing a small notepad and pencil.
He shakes his head. She really was organized. Robin taps the pencil on her
notepad then looks back at Lucky.)
Robin: First, we head to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription then I have to
pick up some other stuff from that little store next to Fishers… then we’re
heading to my place.
Lucky (excited): You’re making me lunch?!? Liz tells me you make the most
amazing lunches.
Robin: I can maybe whip us up a quick salad.
(Lucky makes a face.)
Robin (laughs): Hey, I know you’re a "rib’s man," but we only have
an hour, here!
Lucky (sighs): Salad is fine.
Robin (laughs): Come on… I make a really good dressing! Which reminds me…
(Robin looks back at her notepad and scribbles something on it quickly. Lucky
moves toward her and leans over her shoulder.)
Lucky: What in the world are you planning?
(Lucky grabs the notebook from Robin’s hands and she yelps slightly. His
eyes widen as he looks back at Robin.)
Lucky (shocked): Dr. Robin Scorpio! You are planning a night of seduction!
(Robin’s mouth drops as she grabs the notebook back from Lucky.)
Robin (flustered): What on here suggests a night of seduction?
Lucky (smirks): Uh… red wine, candles, filet mignon… (Looks at her) I’m
getting salad greens.
(Robin makes a face then starts to walk out of the elevator as they land in
the GH Parking Lot.)
Robin (simply): You’re not my boyfriend.
(Lucky catches up to Robin smiling widely.)
Lucky: So, Patrick Drake is a filet mignon man?
(Robin glares at Lucky as they walk toward her car.)
Lucky: I always took him as a breast man.
(Robin looks up from the driver’s side as she’s about to open her door.)
Lucky: What? I was referring to chicken, of course.
Robin (dryly): Get in the car, Spencer.
(Lucky plops down next to Robin as she starts her car. He laughs quietly as
Robin drives out of the parking lot and starts down the main road. Robin finally
sighs. She awkwardly rolls her eyes.)
Robin: I am trying to plan a special night for Patrick.
Lucky (smiles): Go on.
Robin: So, I’m actually kind of glad you’re joining me this afternoon.
(Looks at him) You know… for your opinion.
(Lucky smiles as he leans back on the passenger seat of her car and Robin
focuses on the road.)
Lucky: Go on.
Robin: Well, when we were on vacation Patrick asked to move in with me and…
Lucky: In with you? (Shakes his head) The guy is unique.
Robin: Yes, he is. Anyway, I told him that I needed to think about it and I
thought about it.
Lucky: And tonight you want to tell him to move on in?
Robin: I have the whole night planned out in my mind. I just have to make it
happen.
Lucky: You will.
(Robin looks at Lucky.)
Robin: Will you help?
Lucky: Yeah, why not? Sure. I can help. (Laughs) Liz was right. "Girl
talk" is fun!
Hours Later
Setting: General Hospital
(Robin Scorpio and Lucky Spencer walk off the elevator hysterical laughing.
Elizabeth Spencer looks up smiling from the Nurses’ Station.)
Liz: Looks like you had fun.
Lucky: Yeah, a blast.
Robin (laughing): I think I might’ve tortured your poor husband.
(Liz looks at Lucky then back at Robin.)
Liz: Uh-oh… what happened?
Lucky: Robin has some special plans for tonight.
(Liz leans on the nurses’ station smiling.)
Liz: Do they involve an overconfident neurosurgeon?
(Robin rolls her eyes as she grabs her schedule and starts to walk away from
the Nurses’ Station.)
Robin: I’m late for my next appointment.
(Lucky stops laughing long enough to look back at Robin.)
Lucky: Hey, you mentioned that Patrick is in surgery until late tonight. Does
that mean you’re going home alone?
Robin: No, actually I’m supposed to meet up with Noah… so you are off duty
when it comes to protecting me, Officer Spencer. He can walk me to my car.
(Smiles) I think you fulfilled all of your girlfriend duties for one day.
(Liz and Lucky both laugh as Robin walks toward the examination rooms with a
huge smile on her face. Patrick was going to move in with her! She couldn’t
wait to go home tonight, setup her surprise for Patrick and see his face when he
walks through the door. Robin smiles just thinking about it. The next few hours
would be a breeze to get through if she just focused on that. Robin walks toward
the examination room and opens the door. She stops shortly when she sees Jason
sitting on the examination table.)
Robin (surprised): Jason.
(Jason looks up at the sound of Robin’s voice.)
Jason: I thought Noah was checking on me.
Robin: He was… there’s been a few mix-ups with the schedules today. I’m
taking over some of Noah’s cases.
(Robin looks down at Jason’s folder and shakes her head.)
Robin: I didn’t even realize it was your case.
Jason: Your mind was somewhere else?
(Robin smiles slightly.)
Robin: Yeah, I guess you can say that.
(Robin pushes a strand of her hair behind her ear as she looks back at
Jason.)
Robin: Do you want to wait for Noah?
Jason: No, I prefer you anyway.
Robin: Good.
(Robin looks down at the Jason’s folder again and opens it.)
Robin: Your latest workups look good.
(Robin closes the folder then walks over to Jason. She takes out a small
flashlight from her pocket and flashes it into each of his eyes.)
Robin: Any headaches?
(Jason shakes his head.)
Robin: Dizziness?
(Jason shakes his head.)
Robin: Good.
(Robin places the flashlight back in her pocket then scribbles something on
Jason’s chart. Jason watches her quietly then clears his throat.)
Jason: You’re tan.
(Robin looks up and smiles slightly.)
Robin: Yeah, I went on vacation a few weeks ago.
(Jason nods as he rubs the back of his neck.)
Jason: With Brenda?
(Robin looks back at Jason confused.)
Robin: Brenda? No. (Smiles) She’s too busy for little ol’ me.
(Jason just quietly nods. Robin looks down then up toward him. She wonders
why she suddenly felt awkward.)
Robin: Patrick.
(Jason just looks back at her.)
Jason: What?
Robin: I went away with Patrick.
Jason (flatly): Drake?
(Robin nods and Jason was… silent. She looks back at him and sighs as she
shoves her hands in her lab coat. Robin had forgotten what Jason’s silent
disappointment felt like. She laughs slightly to herself and shakes her head.
Her parents never really reprimanded her as a child; they really never had a
reason to, but she always had a feeling if they had… it wouldn’t have been
half as bad as Jason’s silent disappointment.)
Robin: Whatever it is you want to say, just say it.
(Jason shrugs his shoulders.)
Jason: The guy’s a jerk.
Robin: You don’t know him.
Jason: He was my doctor, Robin.
Robin: Months ago! (Looks at him) You know Patrick, the doctor, not Patrick, the
man.
Jason: I doubt there’s much of a difference.
Robin: Jason, I didn’t tell you I was dating Patrick for your approval… I
just didn’t think it needed to be hidden from you.
(Jason shakes his head as he looks down. Robin takes another deep intake of
breath. Now, he was moving toward the disapproving head shake.)
Jason: I don’t get it.
Robin: Get what?
(Jason looks back at her.)
Jason: Why you and Emily would both go for men that you know will hurt you?
(Robin rolls her eyes and shakes her head. Why in the world was she being
compared to Emily?)
Jason: I mean, there is no doubt how your relationship will end.
(Robin’s head snaps toward Jason.)
Robin (offended): Hey!
Jason: It’s the truth.
Robin: Again, you don’t know Patrick! (Angrily) And let’s be truthful, Jason
– do you really know me anymore?
Jason: You couldn’t have changed all that much, Robin. You were never a casual
dater.
Robin (annoyed): No, I never had a boy-on-the-side.
(Robin shakes head then looks back at Jason.)
Robin: Patrick and I are not and never were casual, Jason.
(Jason just stares back at Robin.)
Robin: And I’m not Emily and Patrick is definitely not Sonny. I don’t even…
I have no idea what their relationship is like nor do I want to, but I am pretty
certain that it’s nothing like the one I have with Patrick.
Jason (sighs): Robin, I’m sorry. It’s none of my business who you date.
Robin: I know it’s not.
Jason: Just… be careful with him, Robin.
Robin: Why are you so convinced that he’ll hurt me?
Jason: Why are you so convinced that he won’t?
(Robin covers her face with her hands and shakes her head.)
Robin: Why Jason? (Looks at him) Why are we discussing this?!?!
Jason (angrily): Robin, the last time I saw you, you collapsed from exhaustion!
(Robin looks away.)
Jason: I saw you for all of five minutes and knew something was off… and he
didn’t?
(Robin looks back at him.)
Robin (annoyed): You have no idea what you are talking about!
Jason: Why does it bother you so much that I’m concerned for you?
Robin: Because you, Jason, would never let me be concerned for you. Not even
when we were together. You lived your life and I lived mine, remember?
(Jason looks away.)
Robin: Do you want my opinion on your relationship with Sam?
(Jason looks back at her.)
Robin: I didn’t think so.
(Jason shakes his head as Robin moves closer to him.)
Robin: Look, I appreciate your concern… somewhere I know I do, but it’s not
necessary. Patrick and I are good. Really good.
Jason: Fine. (Looks down) It was none of my business, anyway. (Quietly) I just
want you to be happy, Robin – that’s all. If you think that jerk can make
you happy, whatever, go for it.
(Robin laughs slightly. That was the closest thing to acceptance she would
ever get from Jason. And as much as she didn’t want to admit it, it was nice
to have. Acceptance from Jason. Robin sighs. She can’t even remember the last
time she had that. Maybe when she was eighteen. She looks back at Jason and
smiles.)
Robin: Thank you.
(Jason looks back at Robin and smirks somewhat himself.)
Jason: You are happy.
(Robin nods.)
Robin: I am. (Smiles) And you’re healthy. You don’t have to keep coming in
for checkups. (Smirks) Unless you want continued updates on my love life.
Jason (laughs): Uh… no thank you.
(Robin laughs as well. She looks back at Jason.)
Robin (smiles): You’re free to go.
(Jason jumps down from the examination table. He looks back at Robin.)
Jason: Thank you.
(Robin looks back up at Jason.)
Robin: For what?
Jason: Saving my life. (Looks away) And coming back to Port Charles.
(Robin laughs as she takes off her gloves.)
Robin (smiling): Maybe I should be thanking you. (Looks at him) You gave me the
jerk that I fell in love with. Now, how’s that for irony? (Smiles) Have a good
night, Jason.
(Jason watches her gather her belongings.)
Jason: You too.
Robin (smiles widely): I will!
(Robin Scorpio smiles as she leaves the examination room. She glances down at
her watch. She had about twenty minutes before she had to meet Noah. Robin
thinks for a moment then decides to get all of her stuff from her locker, so she
could leave the hospital directly after meeting with Noah. Relief washed over
her body as she realized that Jason was officially her last case for the day.
Robin walks over toward the Nurses’ Station, submits her last form then walks
toward the locker room. Once in the locker room, Robin immediately heads toward
her locker and quickly opens it. She takes off her lab coat then reaches for her
purse. Robin sits down slowly on the bench in front of her then opens her purse.
She looks down at her cell phone, thinks for a moment then dials in a number.
Robin smiles as she hears Patrick’s phone ringing only a few lockers away.)
Robin: Hey… it’s me. I just wanted to remind you that we have plans tonight.
(Whispers) And I mean major, major plans… so I hope you’re bringing your
appetite. (Smirks) And not just for food. (Laughs) Okay… I gotta go. Love you
and see you soon. Oh! And we have to work on this schedule thing… only one
make out session during the day is not good for Dr. Scorpio’s morale. (Sighs)
Actually, I can only imagine yours… so please try to leave the grumpiness at
the hospital. (Laughing) Okay, I have to go – your dad is going to kill me. I’m
like ten minutes late. Love you!
(Robin laughs as she closes her cell phone then throws it back into her
purse. She looks down at her watch. Okay… time to meet Noah in the research
lab. Robin stands up, makes sure she got everything then closes her locker. She
starts to head down the row of lockers when she hears the door of the locker
room opening. It was probably Lainey. She hadn’t seen her all day either. The
schedules today were ridiculous. Robin turns the corner then frowns slightly
when she doesn’t see anyone there.)
Robin: I must be hearing things.
(Robin shakes her head then walks toward the door. Just as her hand presses
against the door to open it, she feels a strong arm wrap around her waist and
suddenly pull her backward. Robin opens her mouth to scream, but no words seemed
to be leaving her mouth. Chloroform. That was the last coherent thing Robin
processed as everything went black around her. Moments later by the Nurses’
Station, Maxie Jones looks up when she sees Manny Ruiz leaving the locker rooms
pushing a laundry cart toward the elevator. She couldn’t explain it, but
something felt off. Before she could fully question the strange feeling in the
pit of her stomach, Bobbie Spencer walks over to her with a folder.)
Bobbie: Hey Maxie, would you mind bringing these to pediatrics?
Maxie: Sure.
(Maxie leaves the Nurses’ Station and starts walking toward the elevator.
She stops in front of it and looks back at Manny Ruiz. He simply smiles toward
her then watches her eyes travel down to the laundry cart.)
Manny: Just towels.
(Maxie nods.)
Maxie: Right.
(Maxie awkwardly wrings her hands and looks up at the elevator display. This
elevator was not coming fast enough. She looks back at Manny then toward the
staircase. The stairs seemed like a safer choice. And that was it. Maxie walked
toward the staircase and headed toward pediatrics as Manny Ruiz walked into the
elevator pushing a laundry cart… a laundry cart that seemed just a little too
hard to push for just towels.)
