Locked Out

Chapters 1-5
Chapter 1
The idea of this story came to me the other night and I debated if I should start another one knowing that my summer class is starting soon and work is crazy, but I decided to just go for it.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it -- and don't think I'm too crazy for taking on yet another story.
Locked Out
Premise: Attached. It’s defined as being assigned temporarily to something. And that’s what they said they were – temporarily assigned to each other. Robin Scorpio and Patrick Drake agreed to a “no strings attached” relationship. It made sense at the time. It made a lot of sense, actually. Robin Scorpio didn’t want to get hurt again and Patrick Drake didn’t want the responsibilities of a commitment. On paper, it made complete sense. However, in practice… not so much.
The last few months had been strange ones for Robin Scorpio. She had returned to the town she grew up in, was in a train wreck, help save the life of the man she once loved, met Noah Drake then his son and almost died from encephalitis while finding out her own father was alive. All of these things made her decide to take a few chances. Take a few risks.
Chances and risks were words didn’t come easily for Robin Scorpio. Her entire life was about not taking chances and avoiding risks at all costs.
That was until her father told her, “she was old before her time” and Patrick Drake accused her of being a coward. Robin often wondered if that made her an old coward. Well, the old coward decided to take a chance and “save” her father and Luke Spencer at Markham Islands. It was funny… how that one decision shifted her entire life. She had the reunion she had dreamed of with her parents, spent some intimate time with Patrick in a tub and formed a real friendship with Lulu Spencer and Dillon Hornsby.
It was this little adventure that convinced Robin that sometimes taking a chance is worthwhile. And she took a chance… a chance with Patrick Drake once she had returned from the island. She had to admit it – she missed him. She had missed him terribly and there were moments, distinct moments, that Robin knew Patrick missed her just as much. Perhaps that was what allowed her to finally submit to him… and then do so again and again.
Robin loved being with Patrick Drake. There weren’t any words in the English language… or in French that could even come close to describing what it felt like to be with him. It was remarkable, unbelievable, earth-shattering goodness. And Robin was certain that as long as she was able to be with Patrick Drake with only her body and not with her heart, she would be okay. It would be simple.
However, simple would never be possible again – not after Robin and Patrick shared what they have.
Setting: Jake’s Bar
(It’s a beautiful June night. The Port Charles air was clean and crisp as the first signs of summer shone over the entire city. Unfortunately, the weather hadn’t made the lives of many of the residents any less complicated. Nikolas Cassidine had just found out from Robin Scorpio that he was indeed John’s father – not Jax, like they all believed. And that was a complicated situation. Emily Quartermaine was watching her boyfriend have a mental breakdown right in front of her. And that seemed pretty complicated. Elizabeth Spencer found herself keeping more and more secrets from her husband – secrets that a wife shouldn’t keep. That was definitely a complicated situation. And the crème a la crème was Robin Scorpio having a supposedly “no-strings attached” affair with Patrick Drake. Yep, that was the most complicated of them all. The truth was… the ladies of Port Charles needed a night out. It was actually Emily Quartermaine’s idea. She had walked into the locker room and found Elizabeth staring at the picture of her and Lucky from their wedding day inside of her locker while Robin simply stared absently at a crumpled blouse in her hands. The two ladies looked up when Emily simply stated, “we need a night out” and quickly agreed. Within an hour, they had found themselves at Jake’s Bar and each one promised to not let things get too out of hand… and to absolutely not use the word ‘bang’ even once. It was a quiet night at Jake’s Bar. Elizabeth Spencer looks up when Robin Scorpio stands up from their corner table and walks over to the jukebox to choose some entertainment. She watches Robin for a moment then leans in toward Emily.)
Liz: Robin seems quiet tonight, no?
(Emily pours herself another shot.)
Emily: Well, she probably has a lot on her mind.
Liz (nods): Nikolas.
Emily: And Jax.
(Liz grabs the bottle.)
Liz (groans): And Carly.
(Emily makes a face as she finishes the last of her shot.)
Emily: I hate her. Have I told you how much I hate Carly?
(Liz turns her empty glass upside down and looks for any remnants of alcohol.)
Liz: I think I hate her too.
Emily: No, but I’ve always hated her.
(Emily stares down into her empty shot glass.)
Emily: She told me today that I didn’t know the real Sonny Corinthos… that he only shows me the person he wants to be – not who he really is.
(Liz pours herself another shot.)
Liz: Is she right?
(Emily looks up from her shot glass and shrugs her shoulders.)
Emily: Damned if I know.
(Emily turns around and watches Robin for a moment then looks back at Liz.)
Emily: She does seem quiet tonight.
(Liz sighs loudly.)
Liz: It’s probably about Patrick. I overheard them fighting today over one of Noah’s patients. He had asked Robin for her opinion and she recommended her drug treatment. Patrick overheard and discounted each and every single thing she said.
(Emily slams down her shot glass.)
Emily: Men are so sneaky! (leans in) You know what he’s doing, don’t you? He’s trying to make her question everything she knows… he’s trying to take the one thing she’s most confident in and make her question it. (reaches for the bottle of vodka) Just like Sonny’s doing with me.
Liz: Oh, Patrick is nothing like Sonny.
(Both women look up when Robin plops back down in between them.)
Robin: Who isn’t like Sonny?
(Emily and Liz look up with widened eyes then shrug their shoulders. Emily just hands Robin another shot glass.)
Emily: You need a drink.
(Robin sighs as she raises her glass.)
Robin: Port Charles is going to make me a drunk.
(Liz and Emily laugh then suddenly stop when the door to Jake’s opens revealing Patrick Drake and Kelly Lee. Robin immediately notices their change in demeanor and look back at them as she lowers her shot glass.)
Robin: What is it?
(Liz leans in toward Robin.)
Liz: Don’t look now… but Patrick Drake at 6’ o clock.
(Robin grimaces slightly as she swallows the remainder of her shot. She couldn’t explain it, but for some reason… she just didn’t want to face Patrick tonight.)
Emily: And he’s with Dr. Lee.
(Robin rolls her eyes as she reaches for the bottle of vodka.)
Robin: Of course, he is.
(And just as she pours herself a shot, she can feel Patrick’s presence directly behind her.)
Patrick: Well… hello ladies.
(Robin simply raises her shot glass as Emily and Liz just clear their throats. It was obvious they weren’t as happy to see Dr. Drake as they were during their previous Jake’s adventure. However, never one to take a hint, Patrick pulls up a chair and sits directly across from Robin as Kelly Lee plops down on the other side of her.)
Kelly: So, ladies… what are we drinking to tonight?
(Emily raises her shot glass.)
Emily: Men who have some serious anger issues.
(Liz raises her shot glass.)
Liz: Men who have some serious trust issues.
(Robin raises her shot glass and looks directly at Patrick.)
Robin: And men who have some serious inferiority issues.
(Patrick smirks slightly as he shakes his head.)
Patrick: A little feisty tonight, Dr. Scorpio?
(Robin leans across the table and glares at Patrick.)
Robin: You haven’t even begun to see feisty, Dr. Drake.
(Liz looks at Emily curiously as Kelly grabs the bottle of alcohol from the middle of the table and pours one shot for each of the parties at the table.)
Kelly: I sense that you three have some serious issues. (continues to pour) And issues are fine and well. (looks at them) But, tonight… I think you need a break from those issues.
(Robin turns toward Kelly and sighs.)
Robin (sarcastically): Oh really? And what do you have in mind?
(Patrick smirks slightly at the edge in Robin’s voice. She was jealous. Patrick couldn’t help himself; he finds himself outright smiling – she was jealous that he showed up at Jake’s with Kelly. He shakes his head watching her thinking if she only knew that the only reason he came to Jake’s was because Kelly had told him that Robin was there with Liz and Emily.)
Kelly: Have any of you ever played the drinking game, “Have you ever…?”
Emily: I’m assuming that’s not like “Mother, may I?”
Liz (looks at Emily): We really need to broaden your horizons, Em. You are spending way too much time with Sonny’s kids.
(Robin grabs the shot glass in front of her and downs it quickly.)
Robin: Spending too much time with kids that aren’t yours… gets complicated fast, trust me.
Emily: Especially when the mom belongs in Ferncliff.
Robin (dryly): Or is in Ferncliff.
(Robin and Emily clink their glasses as Patrick watches confused.)
Patrick: Did I miss something?
Liz (rolls her eyes): Don’t you always?
(Kelly ignores them and continues.)
Kelly: We take turns asking if we all ever did something and if you did what the person is asking, you take a shot.
(Kelly raises her glass.)
Kelly: For example… have you ever passed the medical boards?
(Robin, Patrick and Kelly drink their shots.)
Kelly: Nice, Dr. Scorpio. You learn quickly.
(Robin laughs as she refills her shot glass.)
Robin: No, I am all too familiar with this game. (looks at Emily) Brenda use to keep me up for hours with this trying to find out what I had been up to during all those years she was missing.
(Emily laughs as she shakes her head.)
Emily (sighs): Brenda… I miss her.
(Suddenly, Emily’s eyes widen as she looks at Robin.)
Emily (shocked): I’m dating her ex-boyfriend!
(Emily covers her mouth in complete shock as Patrick looks back at Kelly.)
Patrick: What do you say, we start this game before Emily remembers something else seemingly obvious and shocks herself into sobriety?
(Dr. Lee leans in toward Patrick.)
Kelly: An eager participant… I like that.
Liz (smiles): I’ll start. Have you ever been in love?
(Patrick looks up.)
Patrick: Does with yourself count?
(Robin rolls her eyes as they all take their shots.)
Kelly: That was boring. How about this… have you ever faked it in bed?
(The other three women look at each other for a long moment as Patrick keeps his eyes glued on Robin. Emily is the first to push her shot glass away and smiles slightly. Liz laughs loudly as Emily covers her face embarrassed then pushes her own shot glass away from her. Kelly looks at both women after she gulps down her own shot.)
Kelly: Not even once? Come on!
(Emily and Liz laugh as they huddle together as Kelly turns her attention to Robin, who is simply tracing the rim of her shot glass. She can feel Patrick’s eyes on her burning directly through her. Robin tries to keep her composure and then in one swift moment gulps down her shot. Emily and Liz’s mouths both fly open as they spin toward Robin.)
Liz: With who?!?!
(Patrick scoffs as he glares back at Robin.)
Patrick: Yeah, with who?
(Robin turns toward Patrick.)
Robin: That’s not part of the game.
(Emily slowly uncovers her mouth and looks at Robin.)
Emily: It wasn’t my brother, was it?
(Robin’s head spins toward Emily shocked as her mouth falls slightly. Liz bursts out laughing as Emily shakes her head.)
Emily: Forget it! I don’t want to know! (covers her ears) I can’t hear this.
(Patrick leans in and glares toward Robin.)
Patrick: I can. (bitingly) It was the mobster, right?
(Robin simply raises her eyebrows then looks around the table.)
Robin: What’s the next question?
Chapter 2
Setting: Jake's Bar
(It's later in the evening. At a corner table, Elizabeth Spencer, Robin Scorpio, Patrick Drake, Kelly Lee and Emily Quartermaine are thoroughly enjoying an interesting drinking game of “Have You Ever?” It has already been revealed that Robin has faked it in bed as did Kelly, all of them had stolen something at least once in their lives, all of them at one time had a crush on someone old enough to be their parents and they've all fantasized about a co-worker. Elizabeth refills all of their shot glasses as she thinks of her next question.)
Liz: Okay… speaking of co-workers, have you ever slept with one?
(With ease, Robin and Patrick both simultaneously gulp down their shots. Emily and Liz glance at one another as Kelly smirks herself.)
Kelly: Have you ever slept with one at your place of work?
(Patrick licks his bottom lip as he refills both his glass and Robin's.)
Patrick: Do you need another refill?
(Robin and Patrick again both simultaneously gulp down their shots, never taking their eyes off of each other.)
Robin: Now, I do.
Patrick: Seems like we have a lot in common, Dr. Scorpio.
(Robin just nods, blushing slightly, as she traces the rim of her glass.)
Robin: Hmm…
(Suddenly Emily leaps up in her chair.)
Emily (claps): I got one! Have you ever had sex without love?
(Kelly nods.)
Kelly: Good one, Emily.
Liz: Very interesting, indeed… and I will drink to that!
(Robin stares down at her shot glass as Patrick stares back at her waiting for her to lift her glass to her lips. So far only him, Liz and Kelly have taken gulps. Before she can move either way, Robin's cell phone rings startling her from her thoughts.)
Liz (laughs): Oh, you just got so saved, Robin!
(Robin smiles as she reaches for her purse.)
Robin: Not true. (takes out her cell phone) Excuse me.
(Robin stands up with her phone and Patrick watches her as she walks toward the corner of the bar. She looked beautiful tonight. She was wearing a simple denim skirt and a red tank top. He watches Robin's eyes widen slightly as she talks animatedly on the phone. His attention is finally taken off of Robin when he hears Liz and Emily talking next to him.)
Emily: Robin wouldn't have drunk. (points to herself) She's like me. (drunkenly) We work hard and we love just as hard… except when I passed out after the outbreak.
Liz (laughs): Hey… I don't know about you, but I didn't expect Robin to say she had sex at her workplace.
Emily (leans in): And I'm assuming she wasn't referring to when she was the hostess at the Outback.
Liz (laughs): Probably not.
(Emily covers her face.)
Emily: I'm still trying to get the image of her and Jason out of my head.
Liz (looks around): Damn! What is it about Jason and Jake's? Didn't we talk about him last time too?
Emily: Yes! When we talked about ba…
(Emily catches herself and laughs.)
Emily: Not saying that word tonight!
(Emily looks up when Robin slowly walks back to their table.)
Robin: Hey guys.
Emily: Anything important?
Robin: No, no… but, I have to go.
(Emily looks at her watch.)
Emily: It's so early!
Robin: Yeah, but that was Nikolas… and he needs me.
Patrick (scoffs): Needs you? For what? You gave him back his kid, what more could he want?
Robin (simply): Just me.
(Emily's eyes widen as Patrick chokes on his shot of vodka. Emily slowly leans in toward Robin.)
Emily: He wasn't the faker, right? (whispers) Because Nikolas is REALLY good.
(Robin bites her bottom lip somewhat embarrassed and shakes her head.)
Robin (whispers): Em, you know that Nikolas and I… we never…
Emily (nods): Oh, I know! I know! You were with my brother then. (Covers her eyes again) Mental image – get out of my head!
(Robin laughs as she starts gathering her stuff.)
Robin: Anyway, Nikolas doesn't want me, literally. He just wants to talk to me.
Patrick (scoffs): Then, make him come to you. (Looks at her) You're drunk and in no condition to travel.
Liz: The doctor is right, as always.
(Robin rolls her eyes at Elizabeth and her friggin' hero worship of Patrick. It was getting so old.)
Liz: I'll take care of this.
(Elizabeth reaches for her purse and calls Nikolas on her cell phone.)
Liz: Brother-in-law, it's me. (Laughs) Yes, it's Elizabeth! You know, you just interrupted our girl's night out. What do you want with Robin?
(Robin snatches the phone from Elizabeth.)
Robin: I'm sorry, Nikolas. (Glares at Liz) I'm a little tipsy, perhaps. (Laughs) Yes, perhaps. (Simply) Tomorrow is fine. Sure. (Laughs) Yes, I will remember this conversation with you! I promise. (Laughs again) Fine! You can call me in the morning. Bye.
(Robin closes the cell phone as Emily leans in toward her.)
Emily: What was that about?
(Robin hands Elizabeth her cell phone back.)
Robin: I have no idea.
Liz (smiles): Maybe he wants to give his thanks.
Emily (swoons): Nikolas is a very grateful person; believe me, I know.
Liz: He gives flowers.
Emily: Chocolates.
(Patrick clears his throat loudly as he reaches for the bottle of alcohol in the middle of the table.)
Patrick: Where were we, ladies?
(Kelly smiles as she leans in toward Patrick.)
Kelly: I think it was your turn, Dr. Drake.
(Robin sighs for a moment then rubs her face. She clears her throat interrupting Patrick from asking his question.)
Robin: I'm sorry, guys… but I still think I should head home.
(Robin turns around and looks for Coleman. She finds him by the jukebox and stands up.)
Robin: I'm going to call a cab.
(Emily leans back on her chair.)
Emily: Well, I'm not heading out yet. I'm not ready to face Sonny and… his garden.
(Patrick looks at Emily like she's crazy. The mobster has a garden?)
Liz: Me neither – I'm staying put.
Kelly: And I just got here.
Liz (laughs): You've been here for two hours.
Kelly: No way!
(Robin glances at Patrick then down at her hands.)
Robin: Get home safely, guys.
(Patrick watches Robin walk slowly over toward Coleman and then leave Jake's with him. Something didn't feel right tonight. He turns his head when Kelly leans in toward him again.)
Kelly: Dr. Drake, it's your turn.
(Patrick rubs the back of his neck then suddenly flies up from his chair.)
Patrick: I have an early consult tomorrow. I have to go.
(Patrick throws down a few twenty dollar bills then looks at the three women.)
Patrick: Get home safely and call cabs.
(And with that, Patrick walks quickly out of Jake's and stops shortly when he sees Robin and Coleman still waiting for her cab.)
Coleman: So, what happened tonight, sweet cakes?
(Robin turns her head and looks at Coleman.)
Robin (softly): What do you mean?
Coleman: Tonight wasn't all about fun and shots for you.
(Robin covers her face and sighs. She looks up when she hears Patrick's voice suddenly.)
Patrick: I got it from here, Coleman.
(Coleman nods and pats Patrick on the shoulder.)
Coleman: Take good care of her. She seems like a handful.
(Robin smiles slightly.)
Patrick: You have no idea.
(Once they're alone, Patrick looks over at Robin and sighs.)
Patrick: You don't have to be jealous.
(Robin turns and looks at Patrick.)
Robin: I'm not jealous.
Patrick: It's okay. You saw me walk into Jake's with Dr. Lee and you got…
Robin (snaps): I didn't get jealous!
Patrick (annoyed): So, when you inferred that you fake “certain things,” that wasn't a dig toward me?
(Robin shakes her head annoyed then turns her head when she sees her cab appear next to them.)
Robin: This cab is mine.
(Patrick starts to follow her.)
Patrick: I'm sharing it with you.
Robin (annoyed): Are you sure all three of us can fit into it?
(Robin and Patrick easily slide into the backseat of the cab.)
Patrick: Are you that drunk you forgot how to count?
Robin: Your ego, jerk.
(The driver looks at the bickering couple in his rearview mirror.)
Driver: Where to?
Robin: He's going to the Metro Court and I'm going 39 Lakeside Drive.
Driver: Sounds good.
(The driver pulls out of Jake's parking lot. He doesn't get far before Patrick leaps toward him.)
Patrick: Can you make the 39 Lakeside Drive stop first?
Driver: Whatever.
(Robin turns her head and stares out of the window of the cab. It's starting to rain.)
Robin (mutters): Great.
(Patrick taps his mouth with his finger impatiently then looks at her again.)
Patrick: You're the one that keeps reminding me about how you made up these rules, remember?
(Robin just shakes her head and continues to stare out the window. She can see Patrick staring back at her through the reflection and closes her eyes. She could not escape him tonight.)
Robin: I told you, I am not jealous.
Patrick: So, you didn't care that I showed up to Jake's with Kelly?
Robin: If I would've wanted you to join Elizabeth, Emily and myself – I would've invited you, myself.
(Patrick turns his head and stares straight ahead as he slams his back onto the car seat.)
Patrick: If you want to change the rules, just say it, Robin.
(Robin turns toward Patrick angrily.)
Robin: For the last time, I was not jealous of you and Dr. Lee!
Patrick (yells): Then, what is your problem?
Driver: 39 Lakeside Drive.
(Robin leans forward and hands the driver ten dollars.)
Robin: Thank you. (Looks at Patrick) I'm not having this conversation with you right now. Good night, Patrick.
(And with that, Robin opens up the door to her cab and flies out into the now pouring rain. Patrick watches her then shakes his head.)
Patrick (angrily): Like hell you're not. (To the driver) I'm getting out here as well.
Driver: I'm not waiting.
Patrick: Then, don't.
(Patrick flies out of the cab and runs toward the entrance of Robin's apartment complex. He catches up to her just as she starts digging for her keys.)
Patrick: Robin…
(Robin's head flies up as her eyes widen.)
Robin: Where is your cab?
Patrick: I sent him on his way.
Robin (shocked): Do I look like I want to have sex with you right now?!?! (Angrily) Have I been sending you any vibes that even suggested I wanted to tonight?
Patrick: Well, I wouldn't want you to “fake” anything.
(Robin's mouth falls as she continues to dig for her keys.)
Robin: You are unbelievable.
(Robin finally finds her keys and opens the main door to her apartment complex. Of course, Patrick follows her inside her building and all the way to her apartment… and of course, they continue arguing the entire way.)
Patrick: And you are unreasonably on edge tonight.
(Robin stops in front of her apartment and opens her door.)
Robin: Lucky for you, you're not my boyfriend… so you don't have to deal with my moods.
(Patrick shakes his head as Robin walks into her apartment and he follows her. He closes her door behind him then stands in front of her with his hands on his hips.)
Patrick: If it's this thing with Kelly…
(Robin spins around and throws her purse on the couch.)
Robin (emotionally): Your father came to me for MY opinion, Patrick! Not yours! And yet, you found a way to butt in… and once again, you made my opinion seem inferior to yours.
(Patrick tiredly runs his hand along his face. Now it was all making sense. The Drew Randall case. Weeks ago, the young teenaged boy was brought in complaining of intense headaches. The family was convinced it was simply that Drew needed stronger glasses, which in fact, he did. However, when his vision continued to deteriorate, it had become more and more obvious that there was a bigger reason behind his headaches. Patrick and Noah both wanted this case. Both men thought they could save 16-year-old Drew, but in the end Drew's mother chose the elder Drake. Robin suspected it was Noah's bedside manner that won the family over. Patrick had known that Robin had grown somewhat attached to Drew. He would find her in his room sometimes before she left for the night. There was something about him that reminded her of Stone. It sounded silly, but she found comfort sometimes just sitting with him. And during these last few days, Robin felt like she could use some comfort... so, she found herself bringing Drew his favorite cd's and some music magazines to read, while he still could. And then today, Noah asked Robin's opinion on the next step of his treatment. She suggested her drug treatment and Patrick overheard this and proceeded to spend an excruciating length of time on why surgery was the only way to go. He didn't mean to personally attack Robin and her treatment, but maybe he did go too far.)
Patrick: My opinion was about your treatment – not you.
(Robin shakes her head then walks toward her kitchen. She puts on a pot for some coffee.)
Robin: If you insist on having this conversation, I need to sober up for it.
(Patrick just watches as Robin reaches into the cabinet above her sink for her coffee.)
Patrick: Robin, you should know by now that you shouldn't take my medical opinions so personally. It's not personal.
(Robin turns around and slams her mug onto her kitchen counter.)
Robin: Tell me something I don't know. (Gestures between them) None of this is personal.
(Patrick studies Robin for a moment. He was right. They weren't arguing about a case – they were arguing about them. But Robin, being Robin, and Patrick, being Patrick, will not address what's really going on between them… so they'll fight about work and their patients. Either way, it was going to be a long night.)
Chapter 3
Setting: Robin's Apartment
(It's late in the evening. It's still raining heavily throughout all of Port Charles. This sudden change in the weather was fitting for the shift between Robin Scorpio and Patrick Drake. He is sitting on her couch nursing a slight headache and an even more slightly bruised ego. Patrick looks up when he hears her coming out of her bathroom. She's still wearing her denim skirt and red tank top. Robin decided she needed to splash her face with some cold water to clear her thoughts. And truth be told, she wanted a few moments to herself to remind herself what was actually between her and Patrick. It wasn't a relationship. It wasn't a commitment. She often wondered if it was even a friendship. The only thing she was certain of was… that it was sex. And that's what Patrick wanted from her. He didn't want her for a relationship; he certainly didn't want her for a commitment; and he valued her friendship when it was convenient for him. Okay, maybe that wasn't entirely true. There were times when Robin felt a “connection” with Patrick. She just didn't know what to label them. And truth be told, Patrick had hurt her today. They had spent an amazing lunch break together on the roof of General Hospital and within mere minutes of returning to work, she had seem him flirting with one of the on-call nurses and once he spotted her with Noah, he strode over and gave his unwarranted opinion… that of course went against hers. And in that moment, Robin watched his mouth moving but couldn't believe the words coming out of it. He accused her of having poor judgment because she was too close to the case in question. And she so badly wanted to blurt out that he was no one to talk about judgment since he had just had sex with her on the roof of the hospital and then proceeded to flirt with an on-call nurse. Robin almost split her tongue in two holding back her true feelings, but swallowed back each insult until Patrick was finished with his tirade. Noah knew that Patrick was crossing an unseen line, but didn't know how to stop him… until it was too late and he saw Robin literally shut down in front of them. It was a fortunate thing that Robin got called away before this got completely out-of-hand. Noah had watched Robin storm toward the Nurses' Station then disappear into the elevators. He had asked his son what that whole tirade was about, but Patrick just shrugged it off as his medical opinion and dropped it. However, Noah knew there was more. And so did Patrick. It was a self-defense mechanism. It was wrong, destructive and hurtful… but Patrick wanted to remind Robin that they were about “no-strings sex.” However, the more he thought about it, Patrick decided that he actually wanted to remind himself of that small fact. Truth be told, when he had left the roof after being with Robin, he found himself already thinking about their “next time” and that is something that never happened to him. He was accustomed to having his way with a woman then thinking about his next woman – not the next time with the same one. And quite frankly, it freaked him out. And he was still slightly freaked out – he never chased down a woman to get her to speak to him… and yet, here he was waiting on Robin's couch for her to return from her bathroom. Patrick takes a deep breath when he feels her sitting down next to him. There's a quiet silence throughout the entire apartment, until Robin breaks it.)
Robin: I'm sorry.
(Patrick turns his head. He wasn't expecting that.)
Robin (looks down): Your medical opinion is your medical opinion. (Pauses) If you think my treatments are garbage, I cannot force you to think otherwise.
(Patrick's entire face falls slightly. He didn't think that.)
Patrick (breathes): Robin…
(Robin closes her eyes, takes a deep breath then turns toward him.)
Patrick: That is not what I think at all.
Robin (emotionally): Patrick, just let me have this one thing, okay?
(Patrick stares back at Robin, trying to figure out what she is getting at.)
Robin: I am trying so hard here to separate personal from professional, casual from devotion. (Sighs) I can do this. I know I can. I just… I only ask that you let me have my anger.
(Patrick shakes his head.)
Patrick: Even when it's not justified? I do not think your drugs are garbage. I just didn't think they worked in this particular case. If my medical opinion is asked of me, I will give it.
Robin (snaps): But, it wasn't asked of you! Noah asked ME!
(Robin turns fully toward Patrick and looks at him.)
Robin: Have I ever, EVER, questioned your medical brilliance? I have said to your face and to anyone that has ever asked that you are an amazing doctor. The only thing I have ever questioned is your bedside manner, but I never questioned your work or intelligence. (Simply) And yet you question mine at every chance you get. Why?
(Patrick shakes his head and looks down at his hands.)
Patrick (softly): I don't do that.
(Robin looks away. There was a huge difference between him and Robin. Patrick had spoken highly of Robin's medical skills… just not to her. He has jumped to her defense several times; times she had no idea about. He has fought relentlessly to get her on his surgical team several times when other doctors wanted her at the same time. Patrick believed in Robin's work. He truly believed in it… he just didn't believe in it more than his own. And that was his ego; the same ego that didn't allow him to be completely honest with her. Robin shouldn't be angry with Patrick; she should be furious with his ego.)
Patrick: Robin, I respect your work. How many cases of mine have you consulted on? (she looks away) Do you ever see me asking anyone else for a consult? You are the only doctor I actually consult with. That alone should speak volumes.
(Robin slowly looks back at him.)
Patrick: If I suggest that a patient gets surgery over your drug treatments, it's not a knock to you… it's just my honest opinion. (pauses) I'll let you have your anger; I'll give you that. (looks at her) But, you have to give me something, in return.
Robin (softly): What?
Patrick: The benefit of the doubt. (sighs) You have to believe that not everything I say or do is done to hurt you.
(Robin nods.)
Robin: Can you just answer one thing for me honestly? (he looks at her) And then, I'll drop it.
Patrick: Okay.
Robin: Today. Was it personal? Just a little?
(Patrick looks down at his hands.)
Patrick: So, no matter how I answer you, you'll drop it and won't press?
Robin: I won't press.
(Patrick raises his eyes and looks back at her.)
Patrick: Then, yes… it was slightly personal.
(Robin opens her mouth to say something then stops. She promised she wouldn't press it, so she just nods. Somehow, however, his confirmation made her feel better. It made her feel as if she wasn't completely losing it and reading too much into things that weren't there. It also let her see for a brief moment that she does indeed get to him. Patrick can sense Robin's shift in behavior and sighs slightly.)
Patrick: Can we move past this now?
(Robin nods quietly.)
Patrick (sighs): Good.
(Robin turns her head and glances toward the window. A bright pink glow catches her eye. She smiles slightly. The sun was about to rise.)
Robin: Looks like the sun is about to rise.
(Patrick turns his head toward the window as well.)
Patrick: Well, I always wanted to watch the sun rise with you, Dr. Scorpio… I was just hoping we would be in bed, instead.
(Robin blushes slightly as she looks down at her hands. And that was their relationship. They fought then apologized in their own unconventional way and then went right back to status quo. It baffled her at times. It truly did. She had never known a man like Patrick Drake. She was never treated by a man the way Patrick treated her. He didn't hold back any punches. And he fought with her. She never really fought with Stone and she rarely fought with Jason. And with both men, when they fought, both parties held back in fear of saying something that couldn't be taken back later. Sonny once told Robin that Jason didn't know how to fight with her and he wasn't completely wrong. Perhaps if they had fought more, maybe they would've been able to actually talk about their problems before they completely annihilated them. Well, Robin and Patrick didn't have that problem. They knew how to fight. Sometimes Robin wondered if they knew how not to. Robin stands up slowly and starts to walk back toward her kitchen.)
Robin: Would you like some breakfast?
(From the couch, Patrick looks back at Robin as she digs through her refrigerator.)
Patrick: Breakfast?
Robin: Well, the sun is rising.
(Patrick stands up and walks over to Robin. With a confident ease, he simply slides his arms around her waist and leans in toward her ear.)
Patrick: Can I tempt you with breakfast in bed instead?
(Patrick can feel Robin ease slightly in his arms and sighs somewhat relieved. He wanted them to be okay. He hadn't realized how badly he wanted them to be okay.)
Robin (smiles): Well, I still have to make the breakfast first.
(Patrick leans in and softly kisses her neck.)
Patrick: Why don't we work up an appetite first?
(Robin closes her eyes as she bites her bottom lip then covers Patrick's hands with her own. She wasn't sure if she was ready for this. She had never made love to Patrick in her own bed. Her own bed was still her safe haven. And Robin was certain she needed one part of her life that wasn't touched by Patrick yet. She needed that for her sanity. Patrick takes a quick intake of breath when Robin turns around in his arms and kisses him softly as she begins to pull him back toward her couch. He pulls away slightly.)
Patrick (smirking): Your bedroom is the other way, Dr. Scorpio.
(Robin lowers her eyes to Patrick's shirt as she quickly begins to undo his buttons.)
Robin: I know.
(It never even occurred to Patrick that Robin didn't want him in her bedroom. All he knew was that he wanted her… so he didn't even resist for a moment when she pulled him on top of her as they fell back onto her couch. And he showed even less resistance when Robin pushed his shirt from his body and then undid his pants in a way that he had never seen another woman do. Her talent simply left him speechless. And her kisses left him absolutely breathless. He didn't want to give this up… and he wouldn't give this up. That was the one thing he was certain of.)
- Hours Later
Setting: General Hospital
(Nikolas Cassidine walks off of the elevator of General Hospital with his sister by his side. Lulu immediately points toward the Nurses' Station and they walk in the direction of Elizabeth Spencer. Nikolas leans in toward his sister-in-law as Lulu looks away, not exactly making eye contact with her, once they reach the Nurses' Station.)
Nikolas: I'm surprised to see you made it in okay.
(Liz rolls her eyes as she looks back at Nikolas.)
Liz: I wasn't out that late. The girls and I just wanted to have a little fun at Jake's – that's all.
(Lulu shakes her head and scoffs slightly under her breath. Elizabeth notices Lulu's annoyance and looks toward her.)
Liz: Is there something you want to say, Lulu?
(Lulu looks back at Elizabeth.)
Lulu: Not really. We're looking for Robin. Is she in?
(Elizabeth clears her throat as she looks back at her sister-in-law. She had known that Lucky had lunch with her the other day, so she could only imagine what he had told her.)
Liz: Lulu, if your brother said anything to you about …
Lulu (bitingly): Getting a little defensive, Elizabeth?
(Elizabeth clears her throat again and attempts to maintain a steady voice.)
Liz: Your brother and I just need to work some things out.
Lulu: Oh, and did you get the chance to do that last night at Jake's? Because I heard Coleman is a GREAT marriage counselor. (looks at Nikolas) Find out where Robin is. I'll be in the waiting area.
(Elizabeth shakes her head annoyed as Nikolas looks back at her.)
Nikolas: Lulu is fiercely loyal to Lucky, you know that.
Liz: I'm not doing anything wrong, Nikolas!
(Nikolas looks around them then leans in toward Elizabeth.)
Nikolas: Are you forgetting that you're living off money that Jason Morgan gave you? (she shakes her head) My brother is a cop! It would kill him to know that he is living off of the local mob enforcer's earnings.
Liz (whispers): Which is why he thinks the money came from YOU.
(Nikolas closes his eyes. He didn't want to fight with Liz. He came here with the sole intention of seeing Robin – that's all.)
Nikolas: I don't want to get into this now. I really don't, Elizabeth.
Liz (quietly): Fine.
Nikolas: I'm here to see Robin. Is she in?
Liz: No. Her morning appointments were cancelled. She might still be at home.
Nikolas (nods): Thank you.
(Nikolas walk away from the Nurses' Station and toward his younger sister. Elizabeth watches them then walks over to them. She wouldn't let them leave thinking the worst of her.)
Liz: You know, Robin was with me last night, as was Emily. It wasn't like I was at some bar by myself.
Lulu: Yeah, but Robin doesn't have a husband and son at home waiting for her.
Liz: Come on, Lulu! I know you love your brother, but you have to cut me some slack, here.
Lulu: Why? You compare yourself to Robin and Emily. They don't cry poverty then throw money away on alcohol at the local watering hole. If you're going to drink, at least go to my father's casino, where he'd give you the booze for free.
Nikolas: Lulu…
Lulu (to Nikolas): No, Nikolas! I haven't said anything, but I've seen her with Jason. They've been meeting on the docks.
(Nikolas turns his attention back to Liz.)
Lulu: Lucky thinks he should worry about his wife and Patrick, he should look only as far as the PCPD's interrogation room.
Liz: Jason is my friend.
Lulu: Well, it seems like you're spending more time with your friends than your family – and that's a problem.
Liz: Lulu, you don't know what you're talking about.
Lulu: Really? Is my brother just imagining things? Are you not leaning on Patrick Drake for your professional needs and Jason Morgan for your personal ones?
Liz (hurt): Lulu!
Lulu: WHAT?!?! You know that Lucky thinks Patrick is after you and what do you do? Keep on flirting with him! And you know that Lucky cannot stand Jason…. and yet, you seem to be his number one defender right now. (clearly) It's pathetic, actually.
Nikolas (clears his throat): Lulu, that's enough.
Liz: I am friends with Jason and I work with Dr. Drake – that is all. I will not apologize for either.
Lulu: Look, I spent some time with Patrick a few weeks ago. Yes, the man is a flirt… but you know what? The flirting is rarely one-way. And you're not powerless, Elizabeth, you know how to stop it. (shakes her head) I bet you never even told him to stop, have you? You probably just laugh it off and smile, while my brother stands by and watches.
Nikolas: Lulu…
Lulu: And the worst part! No, the worst part, Nikolas, is that Liz knows Patrick doesn't want her. He wants Robin! We all know he wants Robin. (looks at Liz) You know, I was the one that had to tell Lucky that Patrick is interested in Robin. Why didn't you?
(Before Liz can respond, the elevator doors open revealing Robin Scorpio and Patrick Drake. They stop short at the scene in front of them.)
Robin: Hey guys…
(Nikolas clears his throat as all eyes suddenly fall upon Robin and Patrick.)
Patrick: Did we miss something?
Liz: No, nothing at all.
(And with that, Liz storms off leaving Robin, Patrick, Nikolas and Lulu alone. Robin glances at Patrick then looks back at Nikolas.)
Robin: Are you looking for me?
Nikolas (sighs): Yeah.
(Patrick looks at Robin, both wondering what they walked in on.)
Patrick: I'll see you around 3?
Robin (nods): Sounds good.
(Patrick starts to walk off, but stops when Lulu suddenly leaps toward him.)
Lulu: Dr. Drake, can I talk to you for a moment?
(Nikolas looks back toward his sister.)
Nikolas: Lulu, this isn't helping.
Lulu: Well, nothing else seems to be. (looks at Patrick) Can I?
Patrick (hesitantly): Sure.
(Patrick looks back at Robin again then toward Lulu.)
Patrick: Ever seen the inside of a research lab?
(And with that, Patrick guides Lulu down the corridor of the hospital. Once they're gone, Robin turns toward Nikolas.)
Robin: Do I even want to know what that's about?
Nikolas (sighs): Probably not.
Robin: You know, Lulu can take care of herself.
Nikolas (laughs): Lulu isn't who I'm nervous about right now. I don't think Patrick Drake has any idea what he's in store for.
(Robin smiles as she lead Nikolas to the small couches by the waiting area.)
Robin: Well, Patrick can hold his own as well.
(Robin looks back at Nikolas.)
Robin: So, what's up? You wanted to see me.
Nikolas: Yeah. Uh… I have something to ask you.
Chapter 4
Setting: General Hospital
(The walk toward the General Hospital research lab is an awkward one for Patrick Drake and Lulu Spencer. He didn't even know why he thought of the research lab when Lulu said she wanted to talk to him in private, but somehow he found himself walking toward Robin's favorite place in the hospital – her research lab. When he opens the door and turns on the light, Lulu immediately looks around the bright, sterile room.)
Lulu: Wow! I bet a lot of excitement goes on in here.
Patrick: Oh yeah, late night parties galore.
(Lulu walks further in the lab and smiles slightly when she sees a mug resting next to one of the computers. She holds it up and looks at Patrick.)
Lulu (reading): Dr. Freckles?
(Patrick smirks.)
Patrick: It's Robin's. I think she said her cousin in Pennsylvania gave that to her.
(Lulu nods as she places the mug back down next to the computer.)
Lulu: Robin's great.
(Patrick just stares back at Lulu.)
Patrick: I'm sure you didn't want to talk to me in private to tell me how great Robin is.
(Lulu looks back at Patrick.)
Lulu: You're right. (Pauses) Look, I don't know you that well. We spent a few days together in Markham Islands. You seemed pretty cool, minus the disgusting flirting with the woman who tried to kill Robin and myself, but all in all – you seemed like a pretty stand-up guy.
Patrick: Thank you… I think.
Lulu: I know that I probably have no right to ask you for anything.
(Patrick moves toward Lulu.)
Patrick: What is it?
(Lulu sighs.)
Lulu: Can you please stop flirting with my brother's wife?
(Patrick rolls his eyes.)
Patrick (frustrated): Look, I've already told your brother that I am not interested in Elizabeth.
Lulu: That's great, but you keep flirting with her and he keeps catching you. My brother is an actions type of guy. I get that, because so am I, so is my father. Spencers aren't talkative people – our actions speak for themselves.
Patrick: Liz has yet to say anything to me.
Lulu: Well, that doesn't make it right. Unless you want to be with Elizabeth, which I seriously doubt considering the way your face lights up when I bring up Dr. Freckles; I am asking you to please stop with the lame come-ons and just keep things professional with her.
(Patrick looks down at his feet and shakes his head. This was going against everything he believed in.)
Lulu: Look, how would you feel if there was someone you loved…
(Patrick looks back at her.)
Lulu: Okay, scratch love – say, there was someone you wanted to get to know better and every time you tried to, there was someone else in your way. And that, said, someone swears up and down that it means nothing, that they only have eyes for you… but you constantly find them with some other guy, even innocently. Wouldn't it bother you?
Patrick: See, there's a problem with your theory. I don't do jealous. I am not made up in that way – any man with confidence isn't.
(Lulu stares back at Patrick and crosses her arms over her chest.)
Lulu: Are you saying my brother isn't confident? (annoyed) Okay, let's drop the pretend names. You like Robin, right? You enjoyed your little fun time with her in that tub back at Markham Islands, right? Well, my other brother, the rich prince, he also likes Robin…
(Patrick starts to protest.)
Lulu: Oh wait! You see, it's all innocent. Nikolas doesn't really want Robin, at least I don't think he does anymore, but you might find them talking from time to time, maybe leaning a little bit too close to one another here and there for your liking… and you won't like it. And all that confidence you're so proud of will amount to nothing because the one thing Nikolas also is, is confident. (simply) Remember that the next time you flirt with my brother's wife, Dr. Drake.
(Patrick licks his bottom lip as he firmly places his hands on his hips.)
Lulu: Now, let's go see what Robin and Nikolas are up to, shall we?
(Lulu walks past Patrick smiling then opens the door to the lab in a swift movement. Patrick clears his throat loudly then follows the young woman down the hospital corridor until they are back at the waiting area of General Hospital. Lulu smiles widely when she sees Robin hugging Nikolas tightly. She can almost feel the steam radiating from Patrick's, so-not-jealous body, and stops extremely pleased that she proved her point. She watches Robin and Nikolas, never taking her eyes off of them, as she speaks to Patrick, who is still standing behind her.)
Lulu: Jealousy is a real pain in the neck. I am so glad that you never experience it.
(Robin suddenly sees Lulu and Patrick over Nikolas's shoulder and leaps toward them.)
Robin: Lulu, this was your idea?
(Lulu smiles widely.)
Lulu: Well, you once mentioned in passing that you had like five godfathers; I figured why shouldn't my nephew have at least two godmothers?
(Patrick sets his jaw as he looks toward Nikolas.)
Patrick: You asked Robin to be John's godmother?
Nikolas: Robin and Lulu.
(Lulu looks back at Robin.)
Lulu: And did my brother tell you the best part? (looks at Patrick) The Christening will be in Greece.
(Patrick's mouth falls slightly.)
Patrick: Greece?
Lulu: My brother is amazing, isn't he?
(Patrick glares back at the young woman in front of him, who was clearly trying to make a point with him.)
Patrick (dryly): Amazing.
(Lulu turns her attention back to Robin.)
Lulu: I'm so glad you said “yes.”
Robin (softly): Me too.
Patrick (curiously): And the godfather?
Lulu: Lucky, of course.
Patrick (dryly): Of course.
Lulu: Oh, and did Nikolas tell you about the ball he is throwing for Sam to welcome her into the family?
Robin: Yes. I think it's a really sweet idea. (looks at Nikolas) Really sweet. I'm sure it'll mean a lot to her, especially with everything going on.
Nikolas (nods): I hope so. (pauses) Speaking of which… I hate to run, but I have to pick up John. He's with Alexis. (smiles) And I don't think she knew what she would be in store for with two babies and Kristina.
(Nikolas touches Robin's arm gently.)
Nikolas: And thank you, Robin… for everything – thank you.
(Robin just nods as Nikolas runs off. Once he's gone, Lulu turns fully toward Robin.)
Lulu: Do you have a minute?
Robin: Yeah, of course.
(Lulu then turns toward Patrick and waves.)
Lulu: Bye, Dr. Drake!
(Patrick looks directly at Robin.)
Patrick: We're still on for three?
Robin (smiles): Yes… (smirks) Keep your pants on, will you?
(And she finally did it. Patrick blushes brightly at Robin's subtle innuendo, which of course, goes right over Lulu's head. He laughs slightly as he walks away from the two women. Once he's gone, Robin guides Lulu toward the waiting area.)
Robin: What's up, Lulu?
(Lulu sighs as she leans back on the couch and crosses her arms over her chest.)
Robin: Okay, the last time you looked like that, you were telling me our fathers were missing. Please tell me that they are both safe and sound. I don't know if I have it in me for another adventure.
(Lulu smiles as she turns toward Robin.)
Lulu: Oh please, you loved it as much as they did.
(Robin smiles as she plays with her I.D. tag.)
Robin: Perhaps.
Lulu: But rest easy, that's not why I'm all stressed out.
(Lulu spots Elizabeth walking back toward the Nurses' Station with some files. Robin watches the young girl's eyes darken and she turns around to follow her gaze then looks back at Lulu.)
Robin (gently): Hey… is everything okay with you and Elizabeth?
Lulu: I'm just a little annoyed with her, right now.
Robin: Do you want to talk about it?
Lulu: Will you tell me to cut her some slack?
Robin: Depends. (Looks at her) What is it?
Lulu: She's been hanging out with Jason again.
Robin: And that's bad because?
Lulu: Because it's Jason Morgan! Rumor has it he broke up with Sam because his life was too dangerous for her, so Liz sweeps in to fix his life while her own is falling apart. That makes no sense. (sighs) I don't get it.
(Robin sighs and turns toward the Nurses' Station. So, the rumors were true. She had heard that Liz and Lucky had hit upon rough times. Robin had hoped the rumors were false, but unfortunately… most rumors start out with a grain of truth. She looks back at Lulu.)
Robin: Just try to remember that Elizabeth loves your brother and that she would never do anything to intentionally hurt him. (Lulu looks down) And try to remember that there are two sides to every story, okay?
(Lulu just looks away. Silence was never good.)
Robin: Okay, you didn't come here to get my opinion on your brother's marriage. So, what else is up?
(Lulu looks down at her hands again.)
Lulu: I wanted to talk to you about Georgie.
(Robin looks back at Lulu confused as she slowly looks back at her.)
Lulu: I just want you to know that I had no idea when I asked Dillon to come with me to Markham Islands that him and Georgie would break up.
Robin: Lulu, they didn't break up over Markham Islands. Georgie and Dillon were extremely young to get married. Their issues were bigger than Markham Islands. (Looks at her) Did you honestly think I'd blame you for their breakup?
Lulu: I wasn't sure. You're loyal, Robin. And Georgie is your family. I just wanted to make that we're still good.
(Robin nods.)
Robin: We're still good.
Lulu: Good. (Smiles) Because I need to know that you have my back in case we have another Scorpio-Spencer family adventure.
(Robin laughs as Lulu stands up.)
Lulu: But before that happens, I have to fulfill my duties as a devoted sibling.
Robin (curiously): Meaning?
Lulu: Helping to straighten out Lucky's messed up life. (looks at Liz) One step at a time.
Chapter 5
Setting: Jake's Bar
(It's in the middle of the day. No one is usually at Jake's in the middle of the day. Well, no one should be there during the day. Carly Corinthos slowly slithers into the bar, obviously looking for trouble. She had been a miserable mess since the truth about John's paternity was revealed by Robin. And of course, Jax wasn't even angry with Robin. He was hurt, but he wasn't angry. Carly didn't get it! How could he not be angry? Well, Carly decided she'd be angry enough for the both of them. Somehow she ended up here at Jake's. She stops short when she sees her cousin, Lucky, sitting by himself at the corner of the bar. She walks over to him curiously.)
Carly: Lucky, what are you doing here? In the middle of the day? (looks at him) Shouldn't you be at work?
Lucky: Don't start with me, Carly.
Carly: Okay, I won't. Can I at least sit next to you?
Lucky: If you don't talk.
(Carly rolls her eyes and sits down next to her cousin.)
Carly: Wow. It must be bad. (looks at him) You're really going through something bad, aren't you? (softly) Lucky, where's your wife?
Lucky (dryly): Probably with Patrick Drake.
(Now that piqued Carly's interest.)
Carly: Patrick Drake? Liz has something going on with him?
Lucky: No matter what Lulu says about him and Robin, I know that he wants my wife.
Carly: Hmm…
(Carly turns fully toward her cousin.)
Carly: I hate to say this, but… you're probably right. (clearly lying) I've seen Patrick and Liz together many times at the hospital. I've thought for months something was going on between them, but I didn't want to say anything. In fact, I think Patrick may just be using Robin as a front.
(Lucky turns his head and looks back at Carly.)
Lucky: You think so?
Carly: You can't trust Patrick Drake.
(And just like that… Carly knew how to get Robin back for tearing apart her life.)
- Hours Later
Setting: General Hospital Locker Room
(Robin Scorpio is sitting on a small bench in the locker room with her eyes closed. Today had been an extremely long day. Sighing, she leans her head back tiredly on the wall and closes her eyes. She reopens them slowly when she feels someone sitting next to her.)
Robin (tiredly): Hey.
Patrick: Taking a break?
(Robin sighs loudly.)
Robin: I guess, I am.
Patrick (curiously): So, a christening in Greece…
(Robin just nods.)
Patrick: And a ball to welcome Sam into his family. (shakes his head) He couldn't just take her out to dinner to get to know her? He has to throw her an entire ball?
(Robin smiles slightly as she turns her head and looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: That's Nikolas for you. He does things big.
(Patrick watches Robin carefully.)
Patrick: You like that about him, don't you?
(Robin slowly nods.)
Robin: Yeah, I guess I do. (Looks at him) He loves big; his loyalty is big. He's just…
(Patrick looks back at Robin and smirks suggestively.)
Patrick: Big?
(Robin closes her eyes and shakes her head.)
Robin: He's a good guy. A really good guy.
Patrick: Who happens to do things “big?”
(Patrick leans in and whispers toward Robin.)
Patrick: You know… Dr. Scorpio, you may remember that I happen to do things “big” as well.
(Robin bursts out laughing as she shakes her head.)
Robin: Yeah, the difference is… when Nikolas does something “big,” it's genuine.
Patrick (smirks): And when I do it, it's memorable.
(Robin simply looks back at Patrick and smiles. She had to admit, even if only to herself, that having Patrick in her life these last few weeks have been a godsend. He had been able to take her mind off of Nikolas and Jax during that whole paternity mess. However, Robin also knew she'd be lying to herself if she said Patrick was just a mere distraction.)
Robin: Speaking of memorable, would you like to create some new memories with me at this ball in Sam's honor?
Patrick: Well, aren't we full of assumptions, Dr. Scorpio?
Robin: What do you mean?
Patrick: You're just assuming that I wouldn't get an invite myself.
Robin: Nikolas doesn't even like you.
Patrick: And you're assuming that I already didn't have someone else in mind to accompany me.
(Robin glares back at Patrick then shakes her head.)
Robin: Fine, forget it.
Patrick: And I saved Sam's life! I should be invited to her party.
Robin (annoyed): You're right! What was I thinking? You're probably the surprise guest of honor. (Pauses) You are so insufferable!
Patrick: What did I do now?
Robin: Never mind. Just forget it, Patrick.
(Robin starts to stand up, but Patrick reaches toward her and pulls her back down next to him.)
Patrick: Wait, wait…
(Patrick reaches toward Robin and takes her hand in his.)
Patrick: Don't rush off just yet. (Looks up at her) If your offer still stands, I'd love to attend this ostentatious homecoming for the former mob moll with you.
Robin: Maybe I changed my mind; maybe I decided that I'd like to take someone else instead.
(Patrick stands up and easily towers over her.)
Patrick: Like who?
Robin (frustrated): Patrick! You just told me I was making too big of an assumption by even thinking you'd want to attend this party with me.
Patrick: And you use to be able to see through the banter. (Looks at her) What has gotten you so on edge?
(Robin rolls her eyes and looks away.)
Patrick: I thought you said we were okay about the Drew Randall case.
Robin: We are.
Patrick: Then talk to me, Robin.
(Robin takes a deep breath then looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: It doesn't matter.
(Patrick gently touches her shoulder and looks back at her.)
Patrick: I think it does.
(Robin turns fully toward Patrick and crosses her arms over her chest. She looks down slightly, not meeting his eyes.)
Robin: Why?
Patrick: Because I can see whatever is on your mind matters to you. Talk to me.
Robin (sighs): It feels weird being John's godmother… after everything that happened.
(Patrick releases a loud breath as he runs his hand along the back of his neck.)
Patrick: Because you're the one that told Nikolas the truth?
(Robin looks back at him.)
Robin: Jax lost his son, Carly's probably on the warpath and I'm going to be the new godmother. Doesn't that just seem a little… I don't know.
Patrick: Why can't you just be the godmother, since I know you probably want to, then just let the rest go?
(Robin shakes her head annoyed.)
Robin: Because I have a conscious! Because I hurt a man that I truly love as a friend. I am not proud about how things went down with Jax. I never wanted to go through something like this again. Do you think I get a perverse joy out of ripping lives apart?
(Patrick closes his eyes.)
Patrick: I didn't mean it like that. (He looks at her) Look, I know this wasn't something you took lightly. I know that. (Pauses) You were distracted ever since you returned from Markham Islands. And Carly was in your face even more than usual, which I'm sure made this whole thing harder than it should've been.
(Robin looks down as Patrick touches her shoulder.)
Patrick: What I am trying to say, but failing at miserably is that you didn't have to carry the weight of this secret alone.
(Robin shakes her head then looks back up at Patrick.)
Robin: I couldn't have told you, Patrick.
Patrick: My soul wouldn't have been tortured, I promise. My conscious isn't as ingrained in me as yours is.
(Robin rolls her eyes as Patrick laughs.)
Patrick: You know it's the truth.
(Robin looks back at Patrick again and finally smiles.)
Robin: Then, man without a conscious, why do you care so much about mine?
Patrick: Would you rather I didn't? Would you rather I just stood by and watched you struggle with something?
(Robin looks away and sighs.)
Patrick: I didn't think so. (Simply) Look, come by my room tonight… you can share your concerns with me over a bottle of wine.
(Robin looks back at Patrick.)
Robin (lightly): Oh, I get it now! (Shakes her head) This was just a ploy to get me back to your room.
Patrick (leans in): I didn't think I needed a ploy, Dr. Scorpio.
(Robin just looks down.)
Patrick: If I do…
(Robin looks back at him.)
Robin: You don't. (Pauses) I'll be there.
(Patrick smirks as Robin stands up and starts to walk away from him.)
Patrick: Oh, and that Cassidine ball for Sam… do I need to pull out my little black book or do I have a date?
(Robin stops short and smiles widely.)
Robin: You don't have a little black book.
Patrick: Oh, I don't?
(Robin turns around and looks back at Patrick smiling.)
Robin: No one has ever held your attention long enough to be written down. (Simply) And anyone worth remembering doesn't need to be written down to be reminded about.
(Patrick smiles as he stands up then walks slowly toward her.)
Patrick: You are starting to think you know me too well, Dr. Scorpio.
Robin (smiles): Am I wrong?
(Patrick looks down in complete silence with a huge smirk on his face.)
Robin: I didn't think so.
(Patrick looks back at Robin and smiles.)
Patrick: So, this Cassidine Ball…
(Robin turns around to see if anyone is near them. Once she sees that they are alone, Robin leans in and kisses Patrick tenderly.)
Robin: You have a date. (Smiles) See you tonight.
Setting: The Docks
(Lulu Spencer is walking back from the Haunted Star. Her father gave her a job there to help keep her occupied over the summer. She didn't mind working at the Haunted Star. It gave her an excuse to spend some time with her father and the chance to learn some potentially useful card games from Robert Scorpio during the down time. She also used her time with Robert to push him toward spending some more time with his own daughter. See, in Lulu's mind… she figured that if her own father saw Robert make an effort with his daughter, then he'd make one with her. However, Luke was never one to be led easily. Thank goodness Lulu had the entire summer. She takes a deep breath as she starts toward Kelly's then stops shortly when she sees Lucky with her cousin Carly. That was never good. She walks directly over to them.)
Lulu: Lucky… hey.
(Lucky looks up immediately at the sound of his sister's voice.)
Lucky: Lulu.
(Lulu looks at Carly.)
Lulu: Carly.
Carly (smiles): Hey Lulu!
(Lulu did not trust Carly. She watches her curiously for a moment then looks back at her brother.)
Lulu: Lucky, shouldn't you be at work?
Lucky: My shift ended early.
(Lulu just nods then looks back at Carly.)
Lulu: And shouldn't you be at your hotel or with your kids, perhaps?
(Carly forces a smile as she looks back at her young cousin.)
Carly: Lucky looked like he needed a friend.
Lulu: And he found you? (looks at Lucky) I'm sorry about that, Lucky.
(Carly scoffs loudly as she looks back at Lulu.)
Carly (offended): Hey! I am your cousin.
Lulu: And you also helped keep my nephew away from his family.
Carly: Jax loved that little boy.
Lulu: Yeah, and some of my favorite books were ones I borrowed from the library... but I eventually brought them back.
(Lulu turns her attention fully toward Lucky.)
Lulu: Lucky, come with me. Let's get something to eat for lunch.
