Chapter 21

Setting: Patrick’s Room at Kelly’s
(It’s late in the evening. It’s eerily quiet at Kelly’s Diner. Patrick and Robin finish packing some of his few boxes that he’s going to bring to the Penthouse.)

Robin: You really didn’t bring that much with you to Port Charles, huh?
Patrick: Most of it is still in storage.
(Before Robin can respond, Patrick’s phone rings and he answers it. Robin continues packing and looks up and notices the change in his voice. He was talking about his father. He probably wanted privacy. Robin looks around then starts to leave the room. She stops when he gestures for her to stay where she is. Robin nods. Moments later, he hangs up the phone. She watches him carefully. He stares at the phone for a moment then sits down on his bed. Robin silently watches him then sits down next to him.)
Robin (softly): How is he?
Patrick: He’s being released soon.
Robin: That’s good, right?
(Patrick nods then looks back at her.)
Patrick: He’s been writing me letters. He sounds like he’s doing good.
(Robin raises her hand and touches his face.)
Robin: Are you okay?
Patrick: I didn’t realize until I got that phone call how much I wanted him to be okay.
Robin (sighs): I know.
(Robin shakes her head then hugs Patrick tightly.)
Robin: I know.
(Patrick simply closes his eyes and takes in the feeling of holding Robin in his arms. He gently kisses her shoulder then looks at her.)
Patrick (sighs): Are you tired? You don’t have to help me pack the rest of this stuff. (looks around) I can handle it.
(Robin just looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: I don’t want to go back to my room just yet.
Patrick (somewhat surprised): Oh okay. (Stands up) I can fix us a bite to eat then.
(Robin watches Patrick walk over to his small kitchen and open up his refrigerator. The bright glow of the fridge illuminates his body as he leans on the door of it. Robin walks over to him quietly.)
Robin: Your fridge is pretty empty.
(Patrick smirks as he looks at Robin.)
Patrick: I don’t buy too much food in advance.
(Robin smiles as Patrick closes the refrigerator.)
Robin: Not big on making plans?
Patrick: About future meals.
(Patrick leans in and kisses Robin’s forehead then looks at her.)
Patrick: But I’m getting good at the other stuff.
(Robin smiles as she looks back up at Patrick.)
Robin: I can grab some food from my room. (kisses him quickly) I’ll be right back.
(Robin walks toward the door and leaves. Patrick sighs and stares at the door. Robin just had a way of making things simple… making things right. Before he can even turn away, there’s a knocking on his door and he opens it. Robin is staring back at him.)
Robin: You’re not hungry. (sighs) And I’m not hungry.
(Patrick smiles then pulls Robin toward him and kisses her deeply. He holds her close to him with one arm while his other hand holds the back of her head allowing him to deepen the kiss. Robin closes the door with her leg as Patrick begins to move them back toward his bed. She felt so good in his arms. He still hasn’t ever wanted a woman more than he had wanted her. She lied on top of him as he ran his fingers through her hair, kissed every part of her that he could – her lips, her neck, her shoulders. Slowly Robin pulls away to catch her breath and looks down at him. Patrick reaches up and softly pushes Robin’s hair away from her face while staring up at her.)
Patrick: Do you know what I love about you?
(Robin smiles eagerly.)
Robin: No. (looks at him) Tell me.
Patrick: You make all the nonsense disappear. I can spend hours at the hospital being the arrogant surgeon I’m known to be or I could be the son afraid for his father, but not wanting to admit it. And it gets so messed up in my head and jumbled… and half the time, I’m not even sure who I am, but then I come to you and you bring me back to life again. And I know who I am. (looks at her) You remind me of who I am.
(Robin just stares back at Patrick, not knowing what to say, then leans in and kisses him tenderly and slowly. He always knew the right thing to say. Slowly he pulls away and looks at her.)
Patrick: And you are so incredibly beautiful.
(Robin smiles looking down as she feels a blush rise to her face.)
Patrick: And don’t have the faintest idea just how beautiful.
(Robin slowly raises her eyes and meets Patrick’s again.)
Patrick: But, I know.
Robin (softly): Then, maybe it’ll be our secret.
Patrick: As long as I don’t have to share it.
(Robin responds by simply staring back at Patrick and looking deeply into his eyes. It was too intense. She tries to look down, but he guides her chin back up making her face him.)
Patrick: I know what I’m doing.
(Robin shakes her head.)
Robin (softly): I’m not sure you do.
Patrick: I promise you, I do. (raises his head to kiss her) I want you, Robin.
(Patrick raises his hands to Robin’s face and brings her down toward him and kisses her passionately. She gasps unexpectedly opening her mouth wider letting him kiss her; wanting him to kiss her. He hears her moan his name softly and that was it. He was done for. Patrick slowly lowers his hands to the front buttons of Robin’s blouse while never parting from her lips. She can feel his hands touch her body and she felt the thin material being pushed behind her and felt the blouse fall on the floor next to the bed. Robin closes her eyes as his lips travel from her mouth to her throat. He felt so good. She didn’t want this to end. She wanted him. She wanted him so much. Robin reaches between them and starts to pull his shirt from his jeans and it was in that moment, Patrick knew this was really happening. Her touch electrified him; he had never felt anything like this before. He felt her pulse quicken as he attacked her neck then moved his kisses down to her shoulder. Robin felt him softly, gently and slowly lowering the strap of her bra and she took a deep intake of breath as she felt him unhook it. She was becoming more and more exposed to him by the moment and it should’ve frightened her, but it didn’t. She opened her eyes and saw him simply staring at her. He pushes a strand of her hair behind her ear.)
Patrick: You are so beautiful.
Robin (softly): Patrick…
(He didn’t even let her finish her thought. He went back to kissing her and slowly and gently pushed her onto her back. He had wanted her so much and it felt like for so long. For some reason, the moment Patrick saw Robin, he had wanted her – in a physical way that he had never wanted anyone else. He wanted to possess everything about her – her mind, her body, her every thought. And Robin felt that. She could feel his need, his urgency, his passion. He was a passionate man – different than anyone she had ever been with. Maybe it was the way he touched her; he touched her like a woman. She closes her eyes in pure bliss when she feels his lips on her bare shoulder. He smelled so incredibly good. Robin wanted this more than she wanted anything in the longest time. She wanted to be with Patrick Drake. And he knew it. And he treated her the way she deserved to be treated; touched her the way she needed to be touched; loved her the way she wanted to be loved. And it was intoxicating. Robin aimlessly runs her hands up Patrick’s bare back as he kisses her entire body. She could feel his need for her growing with each kiss, each caress, sigh and moan. Robin feels Patrick move up her body and closer toward her ear. She takes a sharp intake of breath when he whispers to her.)
Patrick: Are you sure? I can stop.
(He was lying. Robin laughs slightly and shakes her head. She looks up at him.)
Robin: I want this. (kisses him) I want you.
(Without any further words, Patrick reaches toward his nightstand and takes out any necessary protection he thought they’d need. Robin watches him without words. This was really happening. This was really happening to her; to them. Patrick looks back at her then gently kisses her forehead. Robin closes her eyes and simply allowed herself the freedom to enjoy this; to enjoy her body; to enjoy Patrick… to enjoy feeling loved.)

Setting: Patrick’s Room at Kelly’s
(It’s late in the night. There’s a comforting silence throughout all of Port Charles. It started raining a few minutes ago and it made the city seem even quieter. In Patrick’s room at Kelly’s, Robin and Patrick are lying together quietly on his bed. He’s protectively holding her in his arms as she rests her head on his chest. Patrick looks down at Robin and sees a simple smile on her face. He smiles himself. He was responsible for that smile. Robin nestles closer to Patrick as he gently kisses the top of her head.)

Patrick: That was pretty amazing.
(Robin’s face reddens slightly.)
Robin: Yeah, so much for the twin beds at Kelly’s being too small for you.
(Patrick looks down at her and smiles.)
Patrick: It’s all about improvisation.
(Robin laughs as she covers her face.)
Robin: And don’t forget flexibility.
(Patrick laughs loudly then looks up at the ceiling.)
Patrick: I have to say that was probably my finest work outside the operating room.
(Robin looks up at Patrick and rolls her eyes. She sits up slowly and Patrick looks up at her. She looked more beautiful than she ever had. Her hair was messy, her lips looked almost swollen from their kisses, her skin was still damp – she looked breathtakingly gorgeous. He reaches up toward her and pushes her hair off her shoulder.)
Patrick: And your best work outside of a research lab.
(Robin looks down at Patrick and smiles. She gingerly traces his chest. She had no idea the effect she had on him.)
Robin: That felt really right. (looks back at him) Right?
(Patrick covers her hand that’s doing “figure 8’s” on his chest stopping her from making him lose complete control again. He looks up at her.)
Patrick: Right.
(Robin smiles as she pushes her hair back with her free hand.)
Robin: You were absolutely perfect. (looks down at him) I’ll remember it forever.
(Patrick reaches toward Robin then pulls her toward him. He looks up at her.)
Patrick: As you are well aware, I am never speechless. Never. (simply) Well Dr. Scorpio, you rendered me speechless.
(Robin smiles as she bites her bottom lip.)
Robin: If I knew that this was all it would have taken to shut you up, I would’ve done this, months ago.
Patrick: I wouldn’t have. (pushes back her hair) The timing was right. It was…
Robin (laughs): What have I done to you?
Patrick: I think it’s obvious, no?
(Robin laughs loudly as Patrick begins to kiss her neck then gently rolls them over. She could get so use to this.)

- The Next Day
Setting: Patrick’s Room at Kelly’s
(It’s early in the morning. Robin is sleeping peacefully in Patrick’s bed. She rolls over gingerly bringing the blankets with her and smiles as she nestles deeper into them. The door to his room opens quietly. Patrick walks through holding two cups of coffee and two muffins from downstairs. He smiles at the sight of Robin still sleeping. He lowers their breakfast onto the small table in the center of the room then looks around at all the boxes surrounding his room. This room definitely had perks. Patrick walks over to the side of his bed and kneels down quietly next to it. He watches Robin smile as she slowly wakes up then tenderly pushes back a tendril of her hair. Robin’s smile widens as she opens her eyes to see Patrick staring back at her.)

Robin (groggily): You’re already up?
Patrick: I’m an early riser.
(Robin smiles as she slowly sits up bringing the sheet with her. She looks around the room as she pushes back her hair.)
Robin (groggily): What time is it?
Patrick: Time for breakfast.
(Robin stands up and walks over to the table slowly, still wearing the sheet and bringing it with her. She looks down at the coffee and muffins. She picks a piece off the lemon-poppy seed one.)
Robin: Now, that is something you’ll miss living at the Penthouse.
(Patrick walks over to Robin and stands behind her. She closes her eyes and eases into his arms slightly.)
Patrick: Not the only thing.
Robin: Well, you are always welcome to visit me here at Kelly’s.
Patrick: I could. (kisses her neck) But after last night, I intend to have you in my bed as many nights as possible.
(Robin face reddens slightly. She walks over to the table and slowly sits down at it.)
Robin: I am starving.
(Patrick sits down across from Robin and hands her a cup of coffee.)
Patrick: Well, eat up! We have a big day ahead of us.
Robin (curiously): We do?
Patrick: Yep. We’re moving my things into the Penthouse and by the end of the day… (looks at her) Just make sure you reserve plenty of energy.

Chapter 22

Setting: The Harborview Penthouses
(The elevator doors open on the Penthouse floor. Jason Morgan and Sam McCall walk out of the elevator laughing. She suddenly notices the door to Sonny’s Penthouse open. She looks up at Jason.)

Sam: Did Sonny finally sell the Penthouse?
Jason: He left me a message about selling it to a doctor.
Sam: Did he say which one?
Jason: No, I think they dealt directly through their attorneys. Justus ran a background check on the doctor.
(Sam hugs Jason.)
Sam: Well, at least we know doctors aren’t threatening.
Jason: Exactly!
(Jason leans down and kisses Sam, then they walk into their Penthouse. Just as they disappear, the elevator opens again revealing Robin and Patrick. They’re both carrying boxes filled with Patrick’s stuff. They walk through the open door and bring in some more of his stuff. Robin lowers her box then looks at Patrick.)
Robin: When is your furniture coming in?
Patrick: Everything should be here tomorrow.
Robin: Okay… good.
Patrick: And I was thinking about switching the rooms around. The room Sonny used for the master bedroom, I’m thinking of making into an office. I have too many awards and books for that small of a room.
Robin: So, the office would be your bedroom then?
Patrick: Exactly!
Robin: I like that.
Patrick (sighs): Good.
(Patrick turns his head and watches as Robin begins to unpack his boxes. She looks up smiling as she finds the box with all of his books.)
Robin: You weren’t kidding… you do like to read.
(Patrick walks over to Robin and looks down at the books in her hand.)
Patrick: My mother was a reader. She read everything she could ever get her hands on.
Robin: Did she read to you?
Patrick: Always. (takes the top book out of the box) The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. She read that to me every single night.
(Robin looks down at the book in Patrick’s hands then back up at him.)
Robin: I can’t even imagine you as a child. (laughs) Well, actually I could – you were probably obnoxious.
(Patrick smiles that perfect smile and Robin simply looks back up at him.)
Patrick: And what were you? The perfect child?
Robin (laughs): Actually? No. I was pretty obnoxious, myself.
(Patrick laughs.)
Patrick: And why am I not surprised?
Robin: I’m sure my mom would call me a brat, at times.
Patrick (laughs): Well, my mom actually called me a brat many times.
(Robin looks up at Patrick then simply reaches up and kisses him tenderly on his cheek. He turns his head and looks at her smiling.)
Patrick: What was that for?
Robin: Nothing.
Patrick: So, that was a freebie?
Robin: I just love who you become when you open up to me.
Patrick: Now, don’t think I’m getting soft on you, Scorpio.
(Robin smiles as she lifts her arms around Patrick’s neck and looks up at him.)
Robin: Oh, I’d never think that.
(Patrick leans down toward Robin and she closes her eyes eagerly, simply waiting for him to kiss her. He stops suddenly.)
Patrick: You know, I would love to kiss you… (she looks at him) but I think we need to get to work.
(Robin pulls away from him.)
Robin: Work?
Patrick: I have to paint this entire Penthouse by tomorrow morning.
(Robin looks at her watch.)
Robin: And you decide to tell me this? NOW?
Patrick: What? You’re afraid of getting a little dirty?
Robin: No… I don’t mind getting dirty, but… (looks around) the entire penthouse?
Patrick: Each and every room starting with the bedroom.
Robin: And you just assumed I’d help you?
Patrick: Any good girlfriend would help her boyfriend.
Robin (smiles): Oh, nice… drop the “girlfriend” bomb to get me to paint.
Patrick: Did it work?
Robin: A little, but on one condition.
Patrick: And that condition is?
Robin: I get something for all my hard work. (smiles) I am not cheap, Dr. Drake.
Patrick: What do you have in mind for payment?
Robin (thinks): Hmm… I may have to get back to you. (looks at him) But, you know what I can do? I’ll run out, get us dinner and a change of clothes.
Patrick: Change of clothes?
Robin: When you paint, you get dirty… hence, I need a change of clothes. And if we paint all night, we need nourishment… hence, the need for food.
Patrick (lightly): How can I be certain you’ll come back?
Robin (simply): Well, because any good girlfriend helps her boyfriend.
(Patrick smiles. She used his own words to make a point. She stands on her tiptoes, kisses him quickly then looks at him.)
Robin: Don’t miss me too much.
(Robin grabs her purse and runs out of the Penthouse with a mission in mind. Patrick watches her and sighs. He looks around his Penthouse and rubs the back of his neck. He was never going to get this entire Penthouse done by the morning.)

Setting: The Docks
(Robin is walking quickly down the docks toward Kelly’s Diner. She stops when she sees Jax staring out toward the water. He’s obviously deep in thought. Robin simply watches him for a few moments then walks toward him. She stands next to him and he eventually turns and looks toward her.)

Robin (softly): Hey… is everything okay?
(Jax looks back at Robin then back out toward the dark Port Charles River.)
Jax: Do you remember the last two conversations we had on these docks?
(Robin nods and looks down at her feet.)
Robin: I could never forget them. (she looks back at him) Me telling you to marry Brenda, the day before we thought she died, no matter what her test results were and then when I decided to leave Port Charles.
Jax: I always feel like I’m losing something on these docks.
Robin (carefully): What did you lose tonight?
Jax: I lost myself. (sighs) I haven’t been too happy with myself lately.
(Robin sighs and Jax turns fully toward her. She gestures toward the bench and they sit down next to each other.)
Jax: It’s fitting that this is where I come to that realization since this is the exact place where I became a changed man. (looks at her) This is where I saw Brenda kissing Sonny right before we were supposed to get remarried.
(Robin just looks down at her hands.)
Jax: You don’t have to say anything, Robin. I know you hated how I hurt Brenda.
(Robin looks back at Jax.)
Robin: Jax, I’m not going to judge you. If there’s anything I know about you, Brenda and Sonny is that it was never black and white.
Jax: It’s just… when I saw them… something snapped – I did.
Robin: But to leave her at the altar like that? (looks down at her hands again) You saw how it broke her when Sonny did that.
Jax: Robin, do you know what it’s like to realize that everything you built your dreams on, your entire future on is a lie?
(Robin chuckles slightly as she looks back up at him.)
Robin: Actually, I do.
Jax: It wasn’t my finest moment.
(Robin looks straight ahead.)
Robin: The night I told AJ the truth about Michael, I made the mistake of trying to… I don’t know, “talk” to Carly, if you can even talk to her. She pushed every single button I had that night. And I broke. (shakes her head) It was like months of anger, betrayal, despair just came to the boiling point, you know. I left that Brownstone questioning everything and I honestly thought that the only way to make things right again… was telling AJ the truth. (looks at him) And then I left.
Jax: Jason showed you such blatant disrespect back then.
Robin: It goes to show you, though… no one is perfect, including you, Jax.
Jax: To Brenda, I was. (pauses) After she left Port Charles, I never fully trusted anyone again, including myself. The moment I hooked up with Courtney, I thought she still wanted Jason and then once we were together, I was convinced she wanted Nikolas.
Robin: Well, you weren’t that far off, Jax.
Jax (laughs): True, but… (looks at her) I was once a very confidant man.
Robin (smiles): I remember. I’ll always remember the first time I met you. You had just taken Brenda on a shopping spree in Malibu and my Uncle Mac couldn’t stand you!
(Jax laughs fondly remembering their initial meeting at the Outback.)
Jax: And all Brenda kept talking about was “Robin this and Robin that.” I knew to get this woman’s heart, I’d also have to capture the heart of her best friend. (laughs) The joke was on me though… (looks at her) I think her best friend captured my heart instead.
(Robin smiles tenderly, as Jax takes her hand.)
Robin: You are a good man, Jax. (looks at him) You’re just not perfect. (thinking) And you know… lately I’ve been realizing more and more that perfection is extremely overrated.
Jax: Is that speaking from experience?
(Robin’s face reddens slightly as she looks down.)
Robin: Maybe.
Jax: It wouldn’t have anything to do with the Doctor I saw you with at Kelly’s that morning?
Robin (looks at him): That’s Dr. Drake.
Jax: Aah yes! Patrick Drake is the brilliant neurosurgeon who saved Jason. How could I forget him? So, when are we raising the statue in his honor for saving Port Charles’s patron saint?
Robin (smiles): I believe the ceremony is scheduled for the first day of Spring.
Jax: I’ll be sure to get a first row seat.
(Robin laughs.)
Jax: It’s good to see you smiling again.
Robin: It feels good too. I almost forgot how good it feels.
Jax: And Dr. Drake is responsible for that smile?
Robin (smirks): Maybe.
Jax: Then, I hope you keep smiling. (looks at her) So, now tell me… I know you weren’t walking down these docks to find me. Where were you headed before I distracted you?
Robin (sighs): Patrick bought Sonny’s old Penthouse.
Jax (interested): Really?
Robin: And I’m going to help him paint, but I need to get a change of clothes and some food.
Jax: How about this? I’ll walk you to Kelly’s so you can pick up some clothes and I’ll put in a call to the Metro Court for some food for the both of you.
Robin: Jax, no that’s too much!
Jax: Not at all! By the time, you get your clothes – the food will be done and ready to be picked up.
Robin: Are you sure?
Jax: Absolutely! And it’ll give me the opportunity to spend some more time with you.
Robin: Thank you. (looks at him) I’d like that a lot.
(Robin stands up as Jax does as well. He looks back at her.)
Jax: I missed you, Robin.
Robin (smiles): I missed you too… come on.

Setting: Patrick’s Penthouse
(Beethoven’s concerto in B minor is blasting through the entire Penthouse as Patrick paints the living room. After Robin left, Patrick quickly changed into an old pair of jeans and T-shirt. And of course, he found a good pair of gloves to protect his hands while he painted. He’s almost finished with the living room when there’s a knocking on his door. Patrick wipes his hands and opens the door. He opens it to find Robin looking back at him with an overnight bag and a few bags of food.)

Patrick: I was starting to think you deserted me.
(Robin walks into the Penthouse.)
Robin: I’m sorry. I ran into Jax on the docks and we talked for a bit.
Patrick: Oh, the guy that wanted to take you to Madagascar? Nice.
(Robin smiles as she looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: He is nice. He actually bought us dinner.
Patrick (curiously): Really?
Robin: I hope you like filet mignon and prime rib.
(Patrick takes the bags from Robin and looks into them curiously.)
Patrick: And why would he buy us dinner?
(Robin smiles as she looks back up at him.)
Robin: Because you make me smile. (simply) And Jax likes that.
(Patrick looks back at Robin and his eyes lower to the overnight bag in her hand.)
Patrick: So, you brought a change of clothes?
Robin: All the perfect attire for painting.
Patrick: Okay, how about this for a deal then? You go change and I’ll set the food out.
Robin (surprised): You don’t want to paint then eat?
Patrick: I, unlike you, have been painting for the last hour or so and I’m hungry.
(Robin smiles then hands Patrick the bags of food.)
Robin: I forget that you are not use to manual labor.
Patrick (smirks): Just change!
(Robin laughs as she runs up the stairs to change into her “painting clothes.” Patrick watches her leave then quickly starts running around the Penthouse to make them a proper place to eat. Moments later, Robin starts to walk down the steps of the Penthouse then stops shortly at the sight in front of her. The entire Penthouse is dimmed and only illuminated by a few random candles. There is a drop cloth in the middle of the floor which Patrick laid out their entire meal on. She covers her mouth in almost shock at how beautiful it looks. Finally Patrick appears at the foot of the staircase, still wearing his old jeans and T-shirt. They are finally about the same height since Robin has the advantage of standing on the stairs.)
Patrick: Did I ever tell you my theory about our first date in my place?
Robin (smiles): Shut up!
(Robin pulls Patrick by his T-shirt toward her and kisses him. He immediately wraps his arms around her waist and picks her up into his arms. He honestly could not get enough of her. Robin smiles as she feels him trying to raise her T-shirt from her body. She pulls away smiling as he gently places her back onto the step she was standing on.)
Robin (smiles): And what happened to eating? And painting? And working into the wee hours of the morning?
(Patrick responds by kissing her neck and continuing to raise her T-shirt.)
Patrick: We could still eat and paint. (looks at her) Later.
