Chapter 27
Setting: Patrick’s Bedroom at the Penthouse
(It’s later in the day. After Robin and Patrick returned back from General Hospital and arrived at the Penthouse, they spent some time just simply talking and then eventually decided to head for bed. It’s been hours since they arrived back at the Penthouse, but Robin couldn’t sleep. She’s staring up at the ceiling as Patrick lies next to her sleeping soundly. She had a lot on her mind. Tired of tossing and turning, Robin slowly sits up and carefully gets up from the bed. She tugs at the bottom of Patrick’s T-shirt, she’s wearing, and smiles. There was nothing more comfortable than wearing a man’s oversized T-shirt to bed. Robin looks at Patrick one last time then quietly leaves the bedroom and heads down the steps of the Penthouse. It was so quiet. She looks around the lower level of the Penthouse and sighs. It really did look like an entirely new place – nothing like the home once owned by Jason or Sonny. Robin walks over to the bar and pours herself a glass of water. She walks over to the fireplace and quietly sits down in front of it. Moments later, she hears Patrick’s footsteps coming down the stairs. She looks toward him as he approaches her.)
Robin: I thought you were sleeping.
Patrick: And I thought you were sleeping next to me. (sits down next to her) So, we’re even.
(Patrick reaches toward Robin and takes the glass from her hands. He smells the liquid in it as she shakes her head.)
Patrick: Not even the hard stuff?
Robin (smiles): I thought it was a little early for my morning shot of vodka.
Patrick: Not on the Drake diet.
(Robin takes her glass of water back from Patrick.)
Robin: You should stop joking about that; your dad is doing really well.
Patrick: I know… I know. It just comes naturally.
(Patrick looks back at Robin.)
Patrick: So, what brought you down here?
Robin: I couldn’t sleep.
Patrick: You could’ve wakened me up.
Robin: How many times am I supposed to wake you up in one night?
Patrick: As many times as you need to… to be okay.
(Robin looks down at the glass of water in her hands. Patrick reaches toward her and pushes a strand of her hair back.)
Patrick: Do you want to talk about it?
(Robin looks back at Patrick and shakes her head.)
Robin: Can I ask you to do something for me?
Patrick: Of course.
Robin: And not tease me about it, ever.
Patrick: Ever? (rolls his eyes) I can try not to.
Robin (simply): Can you hold me? Just for a little while.
(Patrick smiles, then opens his arm. Robin immediately scoots over next to him and rests her head on his chest.)
Patrick: I’m reserving the right to tease you about this.
(Robin smiles slightly as she nestles further in his arms.)
Robin: Why am I not surprised?
Patrick: Because you know me. (looks down at her) Just close your eyes… and when you open them, I’ll still be here.
Robin: And if I fall asleep?
Patrick: I’ll still be here.
- Hours Later
Setting: Kelly’s Diner
(Maxie and Georgie Jones walk into the diner and head directly to the counter. Mike immediately smiles at the sight of the two young girls.)
Mike: Hello Ladies.
Georgie: Hello Mike.
Maxie: We’re here to see Robin. Do you know if she’s upstairs?
Mike: I haven’t seen her yet.
(Georgie and Maxie look at each other.)
Georgie: Hmm…
Maxie: Maybe we’ll try her cell phone.
(The Jones girls walk over to an empty table and call Robin as Jax walks into Kelly’s. He looks around the diner then walks toward the counter. He leans in toward Mike.)
Jax: Hello Mike. Do you know if Robin is here?
Mike: Isn’t she Ms. Popular today?
(Georgie and Maxie walk back over to the counter smiling.)
Georgie: We found her.
Maxie (smiles): She’s at Patrick’s.
Jax (looks at Maxie): He’s living at Sonny’s old Penthouse, right?
Georgie: You’re not going there, are you?
Jax (smiles): I won’t be rude, I promise. I just have to run some things by her. (smiles) Thanks girls.
Setting: Patrick’s Penthouse
(Robin is sitting in front of the fireplace when Patrick walks out of the kitchen holding lunch for them. She looks up smiling as he sits down next to her.)
Patrick: My kitchen is finally shaping up.
Robin: And not a moment too soon! I’m starving!
(Robin starts to eat the sandwich that Patrick made her.)
Patrick: Well, don’t get too full.
Robin: Why not?
Patrick: We are going out tonight. While you were showering, I made us reservations at the Metro Court for dinner.
Robin: I can’t go!
Patrick: Why not?
(Robin turns toward Patrick.)
Robin: I don’t have clothes!
Patrick: You have clothes.
Robin: Not here, I don’t. If you notice, I’m wearing the same outfit I wore when I came back with you from GH.
Patrick: Then, we’ll swing by Kelly’s first.
(Robin rolls her eyes slightly.)
Robin: Fine.
(Before Patrick can respond, there’s a knocking on his door. He looks at her and smiles.)
Patrick: Maybe that’s someone who would WANT to go out with me.
(Patrick opens the door and sees Jax staring back at him. Robin stands up and smirks.)
Robin: Or maybe someone who wants to go out with me.
(Robin smiles as she walks toward Jax.)
Jax: You are here.
(Jax walks pass Patrick and directly toward Robin. He hugs her tightly. Patrick watches appalled! He walks into HIS house and hugs HIS girlfriend.)
Jax: I am so glad I found you!
(Robin pulls away smiling.)
Robin: What’s up?
Jax: The charity dinner for the Pediatric AIDS Wing.
Robin (excitedly): Yes!
Jax: I can officially give you the date for the dinner at the Metro Court.
Robin: Oh Jax! You are a life saver! Let me just get my planner.
(Robin runs over to her purse as Jax watches her smiling. Patrick watches in silence, taking it all in. She walks back over to Jax with her planner.)
Robin: I can’t believe you’re making this happen.
Jax: You know I’ll do anything for you.
(Robin looks up at Jax and smiles tenderly.)
Robin: You’re the best, Jax.
(Jax writes in the date on Robin’s planner then looks at her.)
Jax: Anything else you need, just ask.
Robin: I can’t think of anything.
Jax: Well, if you do… just call.
Robin: I will. (smiles) And maybe I’ll see you tonight. (pauses) Patrick made us reservations at the Metro Court.
(Patrick laughs slightly as Jax looks toward him.)
Jax (smiling): Great! I’ll get you both the best table.
(Jax kisses Robin on the cheek then looks at her.)
Jax: I’ll see you later.
(Robin watches him leave then turns toward Patrick.)
Robin: Isn’t that awesome!?!?
Patrick (feigned enthusiasm): Just awesome.
Robin: No, Patrick – we got a date for the charity dinner!
Patrick: Date meaning an actual date? Or date meaning Jax will escort you?
(Robin’s mouth falls as she looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: Are you serious?
Patrick: I’m just saying… you didn’t seem interested in going to the Metro Court tonight until Jax showed up.
(Robin walks over to Patrick and takes both of his hands in hers then looks up at him.)
Robin: Patrick, I was just teasing you. You know that I would love to go out with you tonight. (smiles) I love to go out with you any night. I love to stay inside with you any night.
Patrick: Really?
Robin (seriously): Really.
Patrick: Then stay with me.
Robin: Well, I wasn’t planning on leaving just yet to get a change of clothes.
Patrick: No, I meant… stay with me, here. (looks at her) Robin, move in with me.
(Robin’s mouth falls slightly and she drops her hands from Patrick’s.)
Robin: Wow.
(Robin stares at Patrick then backs up, covering her mouth.)
Robin: Wow.
(Patrick simply looks back at Robin.)
Patrick: Is that an answer?
(Robin looks back at Patrick as she lowers her hands from her mouth.)
Robin: You’re not just asking this because of Jax, right?
Patrick: I may have done pretty stupid things because of jealousy, but asking a woman to move in with me is even too extreme for me.
Robin: Have you ever lived with someone before?
Patrick: Michael McBain in college, but another woman besides my mother? No.
Robin: What if… what if you don’t like me as a roommate?
Patrick (laughs): I think you’ll be more than a roommate, Robin.
Robin: What if… what if you don’t like the way I cook? Or… or I keep you up all night with my thinking?
Patrick: I love your cooking and I could be a very heavy sleeper.
Robin: Well then, what if… what if you don’t like that I take long showers? And I make you late every morning?
Patrick: We can solve that problem by taking showers together. (moves toward her ear) And I’m depending on you making me late every morning.
(Robin looks back at Patrick and shakes her head. He can suddenly see tears forming in her eyes. This was not the reaction he was expecting.)
Robin: Why are you asking this now?
Patrick: I was going to ask you tonight at dinner, but the conversation just led to it and…
Robin: No, I mean… why now? What happened that made you want me to live here with you?
Patrick: You know what happened, Robin.
(Robin shakes her head.)
Robin (softly): Patrick, this is me. (emotionally) This isn’t you.
Patrick: What do you mean?
Robin (upset): You feel like I’m making you do this.
Patrick: I didn’t say that. I never said that!
Robin (shakes her head): I shouldn’t have leaned on you earlier.
Patrick: Robin…
Robin (emotionally): You think I’m needy.
(Patrick walks over to Robin and gently caresses the side of her face.)
Patrick: You’re one of the strongest women I know.
(Robin shakes her head and moves away from Patrick.)
Robin: You think that you have to change who you are to be with me.
(Robin starts to pick up her coat and purse.)
Robin (upset): And you’re going to resent me, I know it.
Patrick: What are you talking about? (he looks at her) And where are you going?
Robin (upset): Patrick, I don’t want you to change who you are to be with me. I don’t want you to wake up one day bored with the life we have and hate me because of it. (shakes her head) I can’t do it. And I love you too much to let you do it either.
(Robin opens the door to the Penthouse and storms out. Patrick immediately runs after her. She’s waiting by the elevator.)
Patrick (upset): How can you say that and then just leave?
(Robin turns toward Patrick.)
Robin: Say what?
Patrick: Damn it, Robin! (Forcefully points toward Jason’s Penthouse) I am not him!
(Robin looks down as tears fall down her face.)
Patrick: You just said you loved me! Do you honestly think I’ll let you walk out, just like that?
(Robin looks back up at Patrick.)
Robin: Don’t you get it? I want things to stay the way they are.
(Robin walks over to Patrick. She sighs.)
Robin: Yes, Patrick, I love you. I love you more than I ever thought I could love someone. I fell for you quicker than I could’ve ever imagined. (emotionally) But I don’t want to put my feelings on you.
(Patrick shakes his head then reaches toward her. He takes her hand in his then covers his heart with their joined hands.)
Patrick: What’s in here… aren’t your feelings. (looks at her) But you’re already in here. You’re in my heart. I love you, Robin. I love you so much that I want to share my home with you, my personal space with you. (she wipes her eyes) You want things to stay the way they are? Well, I don’t. I want more. I want you sleeping next to me every night; I want you in my kitchen, in my bathroom. I want you to be everywhere I am, Robin.
(Robin closes her eyes and tears fall from them.)
Patrick: I am in love with you.
(Patrick drops Robin’s hand from his heart as she looks back at him.)
Robin (emotionally): Really?
Patrick: Really.
(Robin laughs tearfully.)
Robin: So, did I just freak you out right now?
Patrick (smirks): A little.
Robin: So, you love me?
(Patrick pulls Robin toward him.)
Patrick: Yes.
Robin (softly): Then, thank you.
Patrick: For what?
Robin: Giving me the bigger closet in the bedroom.
(Patrick smiles as he leans in and kisses Robin tenderly. She was moving in with him.)
Chapter 28
- Hours Later
Setting: Kelly’s Diner
(It’s later in the day. Patrick Drake is sitting at one of the tables drinking a cup of coffee while waiting for Robin. He glances at his watch. They had about a half an hour before their reservation at the Metro Court. His mind goes back to the conversation Robin and him had earlier today.)
Robin: So, you love me?
(Patrick pulled Robin toward him.)
Patrick: Yes.
Robin (softly): Then, thank you.
Patrick: For what?
Robin: Giving me the bigger closet in the bedroom.
(Patrick smiled as he leaned in and kissed Robin tenderly. That was the perfect afternoon. Afterward they decided that Robin would try to start moving her things tomorrow and within a week would be inside of Patrick’s Penthouse. He still couldn’t believe that Robin agreed to live with him. Hell, he couldn’t believe that he told her that he loved her. He really didn’t intend to, but she blurted it out… then he just had to say it. Patrick looks up and notices Robin walking down the stairs of Kelly wearing a simple but fitted burgundy dress. She looked amazing. In that moment, he knew that he would’ve told her either way. Patrick stands up and smiles as she approaches him.)
Robin: Are you ready?
Patrick: We have a problem.
Robin (concerned): What?
Patrick: I don’t think I want to share you tonight.
Robin (smiles): You won’t have to for the entire night.
(Patrick smiles, then leans in and kisses Robin tenderly.)
Patrick: I put your overnight bag in the car.
Robin (smiles): You didn’t think I noticed you taking half the stuff out of my closet, did you?
Patrick: I’m just trying to help you pack.
Robin: Subtly.
Patrick: Come on… you wouldn’t want to be late for Jax.
(Robin laughs as Patrick pulls her toward the doors of Kelly’s.)
Setting: Metro Court
(The dining room is crowded tonight. Robin Scorpio walks in with Patrick Drake. They’re immediately led to one of the best tables in the house. Across the room, Alexis is having dinner with her husband Ric. The two couples quickly wave toward one another then divert their attention back to their respective partners. Robin smiles, as Patrick sits down across from her.)
Robin: Jax really did get us the best table.
Patrick: Yeah, it’s okay.
Robin (mocks him): Yeah, it’s okay.
(Patrick laughs as he opens the menu.)
Patrick: We definitely need to order a bottle of red wine.
Robin: Trying to get me drunk, Dr. Drake?
Patrick: Can’t blame a guy for trying. (lightly) Who knows? Maybe I can convince you to move in with me.
Robin: In that case… order two bottles.
(Patrick laughs then leans in and kisses Robin softly. When he pulls away, he notices Jason Morgan walking into the dining room with Sam McCall. Patrick groans slightly and Robin notices the change in his demeanor.)
Robin (concerned): What’s wrong?
Patrick: It’s our neighbors.
(Robin turns around and sees Jason and Sam. She smiles politely toward them looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: They can’t ruin tonight. Nothing can. We, my genius boyfriend, are celebrating!
Patrick: Alright then! Let’s celebrate.
(Robin watches Patrick wave one of the waiters over. The waiter quickly walks over to their table.)
Waiter: Are you ready to order?
Patrick: We’d like to start off with your best bottle of red wine. (looks at the menu) Then we would like an appetizer of satay of chicken with the peanut sauce. And then my girlfriend, here, will like the grilled rare yellow fin tuna with jasmine rice. And I would like an order of the braised spicy shrimp.
Waiter: Sounds good.
(The waiter nods then walks away. Robin looks back at Patrick impressed.)
Robin: You ordered for me.
Patrick: Did you like my choices?
Robin: Very much so.
(Patrick reaches toward Robin and kisses her hand.)
Patrick: See, I do know what you like.
(Robin smiles as the waiter brings over their bottle of red wine. He pours a glass for Robin and then one for Patrick. Once he’s gone, she looks at Patrick.)
Robin: We should make a toast.
Patrick: To… to us.
Robin: Very succinct. I like it.
(Robin and Patrick toast themselves then look up when they notice someone standing above them. It’s Sam McCall.)
Sam: Hi. Jason told me that you are our new neighbor.
(Patrick looks at Robin then back at Sam.)
Patrick: Actually we both are your new neighbors.
(Sam looks directly at Robin.)
Sam: You’re living with Patrick?
Robin: Yes, I am.
Sam: Wow! That was quick, no?
(Robin clears her throat and looks at Patrick.)
Patrick: Pardon me?
Sam: I’m not judging or anything…
Robin (shakes her head): Of course not.
Patrick: Why would you care?
Sam: I don’t… I’m just surprised, that’s all.
(Patrick clears his throat then looks at Sam.)
Patrick: Sam, is there a reason you left your fiancée to come over here?
Sam (sighs): Yes. (pauses) I wanted to just to thank you again for saving Jason’s life.
(Robin and Patrick look at each other, both clearly not believing her.)
Patrick: You’re welcome.
(Robin looks at Patrick curiously as Sam walks back to her table with Jason.)
Robin: Okay, what was that about?
Patrick: She was fishing for information.
Robin: About what?
Patrick: You.
Robin: Me?
Patrick: She wanted to know how often she and Jason would have to run into you.
Robin (skeptically): Okay.
Patrick: Trust me. Jason does not like the fact that we are together and I can guarantee you that he will not like the fact that you’re living with me.
Robin: Well, it’s a good thing that Jason has no control over my life, huh?
(Patrick looks toward Sam and Jason’s table then takes Robin’s hand in his.)
Patrick: I love you.
(Robin smiles as she brings their hands toward her mouth.)
Robin: I will never, ever get tired of hearing that.
Patrick: You know, you’re the first woman I said that to, other than my mother.
(A surprised Robin looks back at Patrick.)
Robin: Really?
Patrick: You’re surprised?
Robin: No, I just… yeah, I guess I am.
Patrick: I just never… I never needed to say that to anyone in my life after I lost my mom. I taught myself to make only physical connections – not meaningful ones.
(Patrick caresses the side of Robin’s face.)
Patrick: Until you.
Robin: What got to you?
Patrick (laughs): Oh! Now, you’re on a fishing expedition, huh?
(Robin laughs as Patrick leans back on chair with his arms crossed.)
Robin: I’m just curious.
Patrick: What got me to fall in love with Dr. Scorpio? Hmm… I think it was the day I saw you in that black bra.
(Robin covers her face embarrassed.)
Patrick: Or maybe it was when you stood up to me. (laughs) No one ever did that.
Robin (laughs): Oh really?
Patrick: You were the first.
(Robin smiles.)
Patrick: So, what about you?
Robin: Me what?
Patrick: What made you fall for me? Love at first sight?
Robin: Yeah… that was an image I wanted to keep forever.
Patrick: It’ll be a great story for the kids someday.
(Robin laughs.)
Robin: Yeah, imagine that one…
Patrick: Don’t digress… tell me, what made you fall for me?
Robin: Your brilliance. I fell in love with your mind, first. (smirks) Your body came later.
(Patrick laughs.)
Robin: No, I just... I admired your confidence. (looks down) And you knew me. (looks at him) Even when I didn’t want to admit you were right, you saw my life better than I did… and you wanted better for me. (simply) How could I not fall in love with that?
(Patrick smiles as he leans in and looks at Robin.)
Patrick: You are saying all the right things tonight, Scorpio.
(Robin laughs as Patrick leans in and kisses her from across the table. She moans slightly as he deepens the kisses, wanting more of her. All of her. They pull away slightly when they hear a clearing of a throat above of them. It was their waiter.)
Waiter: Your meal.
(Patrick stares at Robin then looks back at the waiter.)
Patrick: I’m going to make an executive decision here… can we get that wrapped up?
(Robin smiles then looks at the waiter as well.)
Robin: Yeah, we’re going home.
Waiter (confused): Sure… you can pick it up at the bar.
(The waiter walks away with their food. Robin and Patrick immediately stand up and he helps her with her coat. Without any words, he stares down at her and kisses her again holding her scarf. This was pretty “PDA” for Robin. She never kissed in public… and this was more than just kissing. She wanted this man and he wanted her. They finally pull apart when their waiter comes over to them again and taps them on the shoulder.)
Waiter: Um… sorry… your food… it’s at the bar.
(Robin bursts out laughing as she wipes her lipstick off of Patrick’s lips.)
Robin: You are going to get us kicked out of here.
Patrick: Me?!?! It’s all you. (kisses her neck) And what you do to me.
Robin (laughing): We are so getting out of here.
(Robin pulls Patrick by the hand and they run out of the dining room hysterically laughing. Once they’re gone, Sam looks up at Jason, who suddenly lost his appetite. He throws his napkin on his plate as Sam looks down awkwardly.)
Sam: It gets worse, Jason.
(Jason looks up confused.)
Jason: What?
Sam: Robin… she’s moving in with Patrick.
Setting: The Penthouse
(The car ride home was a complete blur. All Robin and Patrick knew was that they wanted to get back to the Penthouse. They kissed in the garage, moved their kisses toward the elevator, Robin noted that there was camera… Patrick didn’t care, they kissed in the hallway, kissed while opening the door, kissed while moving back toward the staircase of the Penthouse, shedding their coats the entire time. This was insane. Robin was pulling at Patrick’s shirt; he was tugging at her dress. They kissed all the way to the master bedroom. Robin pulls Patrick onto the bed on top of her then looks up at him laughing.)
Robin (breathlessly): The food… we left it in the car.
Patrick (breathlessly): Don’t care.
Robin (breathlessly): Me neither.
(Robin pulls Patrick back toward her and he returns to kissing her. He would love living with Robin. Absolutely love it.)
