Robert Scorpio & Luke
Spencer
Played By:
Tristan Rogers and Tony Geary
Show: General Hospital (a US. soap opera)
About Them: Robert
Scorpio is an adventurer and a definite good guy. He first arrives in Port
Charles working undercover for the WSB (World Security Bureau). Luke
Spencer is a man who always seems to be on the shady side of the law. Also
an adventurer, he extricated himself from the mob for the love of Laura
Spencer. The two men meet up while trying to stop the villainous Cassadine
family from freezing the world (don't ask), and that adventure cemented a
life-time friendship.
Why Them?
There
was something about Robert Scorpio, whether it was the accent or the debonair
air he had, there was just something that drew me to him. And there was
definitely something that drew me to his friendship with Luke Spencer.
Despite their differences
(Robert was a devout good guy, a spy and soon-to-be police commissioner, and
Luke was a naer-do-well, a former mob man who always seemed to be leaning
towards the shady side of the law), they actually had more in common then it
first appeared. Both were dramatic, action men who had a thirst for danger
and adventure, devoted to their current love interest and their families, and
always willing to help a friend in need. They went through their share of
relationship-soap-operish drama (Robert dated Laura, Luke's true love, and then
went on to marry Luke's pregnant girlfriend Holly Sutton to keep her in the
states when Luke was presumed dead, eventually falling in love with her
himself), but their friendship always remained strong.
Several years after
Robert's death (presumed) Luke did his best to support Robert's daughter Robin
(see Robin & Brenda) when Robin's
boyfriend Stone Cates was diagnosed with AIDS and Robert's spirit even came back
to visit Luke during this time and thank him (read the transcripts).
No matter what, Robert
and Luke always stayed true to each other. They have always been, and will
always be, one of Daytime's best friendships.
