1. Days of our Lives -- The Desecrator
Welcome to Satan Place! Dark forces descended on Salem, where they inhabited the
body of (normally) good Dr. Marlena Evans. A possessed Marlena burned the church
at Christmas, levitated over her bed and even began morphing into other people.
Only the love and determination of Father John (Black) was successful in
exorcising the Devil from Marlena's body -- and soul.
Marlena's descent into Hell began when Stefano spirited her away -- for one night only -- into a seductive dream world where the Maestroand his beloved Queen of the Night waltzed to the devil's tune. Now you can relive that classic 1995 episode of Days of our Lives -- exclusively on SoapCity Radio -- and gasp again at the first stirrings of Satan's arrival in Salem!. To listen, just click here.
2. Another World -- Lumina
A disfigured (but once handsome) 200-year-old man named Jordan Stark came to Bay
City and set up the Lumina foundation in an effort to resurrect his long time
love, Amelie. Interestingly, Amelie bore a strong resemblance to Amanda Cory,
daughter of respected businesswoman/artist, Rachel Cory Hutchins. In the
backyard of the Cory mansion, Jordan took Amanda through a time portal in an
effort to resurrect the past. In the end, Amanda rebuffed his advances and
Jordan Stark ceased to exist.
3. General Hospital -- Casey the Alien
In an effort to locate some crystals long hidden by the WSB, Casey the alien
came to earth and landed in the backyard of Anna Devane. Anna's young daughter
Robin discovered his presence and formed a bond with him. At first, no one
bought into Robin's/Casey's extraordinarily telepathic ("E.T." for
short) story. Finally, Anna and Frisco Jones believed them and helped Casey find
the crystals, which were on Spoon Island. This was the home of evil Cesar
Faison, who wanted to use the crystals for his own purposes. Finally Casey took
full possession of the crystals and bade his new friends a tearful good-bye.
4. One Life to Live -- Eterna
Eterna was a lost underground city -- a radical experiment in group living,
built in the 1950s when bomb shelters were all the rage. Down in Eterna, a young
Roger Gordon met Victoria Lord, a visiting Llanview debutante who happened to be
suffering from multiple personalities. They fell in love and had a daughter,
Megan. Post-partum, a traumatized Viki blocked out all memories of Roger, Eterna,
morning sickness and back labor. Her control-freak father, Victor Lord, spirited
her back to Llanview, sans Roger and the baby. Years later, evil Michael Grande
uncovered the lost city, and a wild treasure hunt ensued. Tina, Cord and
Gabrielle were all trapped in the Eterna catacombs in their mad pursuit of
hidden gold. Once they escaped, the city was completely destroyed.
5. Guiding Light -- Travel Through Time
Reva found an old portrait, which bore an astonishing resemblance to Josh
Lewis's current wife, Olivia. It turned out to be a time portal, helping to
provide info on machinations that Olivia and Alan Spaulding were plotting
against Josh. It also sucked Reva into a bizarre version of the History channel.
First, Reva went back in time to the Civil War, where the foul deeds of Olivia
and Alan look-alikes mirrored their current day scheming. No one believed Reva.
Then she returned to Edwardian England, where look-alikes were also plotting
against Josh. Finally, she stopped off in World War II Paris, where Josh
followed her via the portal. There they found the ammunition to put an end to
Olivia and Alan's plans. This recherche du temps perdu proved that, despite the
odds, Josh and Reva were truly soul mates, meant to be together forever.
6. Passions -- Welcome to Hell
A despondent Theresa, realizing that she was pregnant with Julian Crane's baby
and unable to reclaim Ethan as her lost love, decided to take her own life. She
jumped off the Harmony pier, but after a while, was pulled into safe waters by
her brother Miguel. In her unconscious state, Theresa's spirit descended to
Hell, where she met up with her deceased husband Julian (and other Hell dwellers
like Hitler, Mussolini and Bonnie and Clyde). Julian offered her a foolproof
plan to get the Crane inheritance and to get Ethan back. In return, Theresa
literally made a deal with the Devil and then returned to the living.
7. Port Charles -- Lucy, The Vampire Slayer
Vampires got loose in Port Charles recently -- at least one potent vampire --
Caleb. It seems Livvie was the exact image of Caleb's lost love, whom he wanted
to reclaim. Trying to put an end to Caleb's reign of terror was his good-natured
"twin" brother, a priest. (It was eventually revealed that Caleb was
actually a victim of split personalities.) Later, during a trip to
Transylvania, a buff and battle-ready Lucy Coe learned that she was the last in
a long line of vampire slayers -- and that she was the only hope of destroying
Caleb forever. In the end, Livvie, who was only pretending to go along with
Caleb's warped fantasy, drove the final stake into Caleb's heart, hurling him
out of this world forever!
8. All My Children -- Heaven Can't Wait
John Edward would have a field day in the sleepy little burb of Pine Valley,
where crossing over is the number-one pastime. Take Ryan Lavery. He recently
believed that his beautiful dead wife Gillian was inhabiting the body of Opal
Gardner (P.V.'s answer to Minnie Pearl). And after a horrible tornado ripped
through town, Opal's son Tad conked out and went to Heaven. While there, he saw
his old friend Jesse (a beloved cop who died fighting crime), his sister Jenny
(who died when her jet-ski tragically exploded) and Nola Orsini, the vintner of
his discontent, who took care of him, thinking he was her son Ted, when he had
amnesia.)
9. Days of our Lives -- Virtual Eden
What some girls won't do for a swell tiara! In order to earn the right to wear
her mother's crown, Princess Greta (and her cohort Austin) had to survive a
series of monstrous challenges in Virtual Eden. The place looked an enchanted
paradise, but was riddled with snakes, ogres and even an "evil Sami."
At one point, Greta and Austin found themselves in gladiatorial Rome and nearly
wound up lunching with the lions! Ultimately, they managed to pass all the tests
and escape V.E. just in time to make it to the messy massacre at Greta's
coronation.
10. Loving -- The Devil's Advocate
Jonathan Matalaine literally sold his soul to the devil and then set about using
his newfound power to destroying Father Jim Vochek. Fortunately, Jonathan had a
good twin, Keith Lane, who locked him away in a tower when Jonathan got
out of hand and started spreading horror through Corinth, terrorizing good
people like Shana Alden (whom Jim loved and was destined to marry to twice).
After that, the storyline kind of petered out, but not John O'Hurley, the actor
who played the twisted twins. He went on to become catalog king J. Peterman on
Seinfeld.
