Kimberly McCullough (ex 'Robin' on General Hospital)
(thanks to Karen for this!)
Kim McCullough:
Hi guys! Thanks for joining us today. I can't wait to see what you have to ask
me and I hope to give you some good answers.
-------------------------
Morgan
Dear Kimberly,
The past few months must have been very hard on you because of the passing of
Anna Lee. How was it like returning to General Hospital for the funeral
episodes? Was it very emotional for everyone even off screen??
Thank You So Much~!!
Kim McCullough:
Amber Tamblyn was the one who called and told me about Anna Lee. She was crying
on the phone and was very upset. It was really shocking and nothing I expected
to hear. It was really sad for me because I hadn't been on the show in such a
long time. It was sad for everyone being back on the set but it was great for
everyone to get together and honor someone who made such an incredible
contribution to the show. She touched our lives in so many ways while we were
working with her.
-------------------------
Melissa
Kimberly ,
Your such a great actress and one of my favorites. When you left GH what was it
like to be leaving the show and all your cast members. I bet it was like a home
for you since you've been there since you were 7. was it hard to leave all your
friends?
Kim McCullough:
Yes, it was hard to leave all my friends but I knew they would still be there
for me. When I left I did a pilot and I came back very soon after to visit. It's
been about six years now but I still go back every year to visit. The Shield
shoots right next door so I was able to pop over for visits when I was working
on that show. It's been great to be able to see everyone.

Melissa B
Dear Kimberly,
I think your a GREAT actress !! What was your absolute favorite scene that you
ever done on General Hospital?
Kim McCullough:
My favorite scene was when Stone died. The reason is because there are some
things that are just bigger than you as an actor and most of the time you have
to try to bring that to a scene. Because there was so much history with the
characters and storyline and the people watching, it was amazing. We did it once
and it was perfect. It was a really beautiful scene, I think.
-------------------------
Morgan
Dear Kimberly,
At such a young age you had the power to change the world of soap operas
forever. Your story with Stone was the most impactful and tear-jerking thing i
have ever seen. Did that change your entire life? Did it make you see how
precious your life is and how it can be taken away soo quickly? Thanks
Kim McCullough:
Yes, it did change my life forever. I was only 17 at the time and really never
had to think about dying and how I would live my life differently if I knew I
was dying. It made a huge impact on my life and helped me to grow up and be
grateful for what I have. Ever since then I've taken it so far to make sure that
every moment of my day I've been doing something productive, even if it was just
resting!

Who do you miss working with the most from the show? I know you probably get
asked this a lot but do you keep in touch with Michael Sutton?
Kim McCullough:
No, I don't keep in touch with Michael. I guess since I've left the person I've
stayed in touch with most would be Maurice (Sonny).
-------------------------
ghfan
is there any chance we'll see you on the shield again next season? you were
great in the few episodes you did.
Kim McCullough:
Thank you and I don't know. I would love to go back on the show. It's the kind
of role that whenever they want they can write it in. I'm hoping they ask me
back.
-------------------------
Morgan
Dear Kimberly,
You practically grew up in front of soap viewers eyes. You started on GH at such
a young age. How was that experience? You worked along side of some of the best
actors I have ever seen, Did they help you grow as an actress?? **thank you**
Kim McCullough:
It was awkward at times to grow up in front of people, especially right before I
hit puberty and got a butt and hips and all that. Having a first kiss on screen,
all that stuff that I wasn't allowed to live through in private. It was also a
really good place to learn to be disciplined and work hard. I compare it to
being an ice skater or athlete because it teaches you to work hard for what you
want but it's fun. I'm really glad that I did it because it's made me a more
responsible adult. Finola Hughes and Maurice Benard are the best actors I've
ever worked with and they absolutely taught me a lot about acting. I was only
seven years old and didn't know much. If it wasn't for them I might have been
another child actor who never learned how to act!
-------------------------
Melissa
Dear Kimberly,
I know that your currently on the stones , what is like to go from drama to
comedy. Those two things are extremely different. How did you get used to the
different environment and all the laughs instead of tears?
Kim McCullough:
The Stones is not on anymore. It was only on for three episodes but it
got cancelled. I got a lot of experience and worked with Judith Light, who was
also a former soap star. It put me in a really good position of learning because
I was out of my element. That's really a good thing for me. Comedy is a lot
harder than drama. It's much more difficult to make people laugh than to make
them cry.

The show was really responsible in educating people about AIDS with the
robin/stone storyline. Did you and Michael do a lot of your own research back
then as well?
Kim McCullough:
Yes, GH and ABC actually produced an after school program that followed us in
our research of AIDS. It aired when we were still in the midst of the storyline.
-------------------------
Kayla
Will you be returning to Joan of Arcadia? you were fabulous. (fabulous in
Once & Again as well)
Kim McCullough:
Thank you! Yes, I actually just was informed that I will be going back to Joan
of Arcadia. Might I add that I am most excited about being on a show with my
friend (Amber). I sent Amber a picture that I have of her and I and she was
probably 10 or 11 and she said, "Look how far we've come and how well we're
doing."
-------------------------
mOmO
Dear Kimberly,
You've done many guest star appearances over the years. Recently I caught your
episode of ER. I know that it was a long time ago but do you recall that
experience?? If so can you explain! (( Thanks Soooo Much ))
Kim McCullough:
Yes, I do recall. It was probably about 4 years ago. The episode was about the
fact that my boyfriend and I were having a child but I got scared at the last
minute and wanted to abort the baby. He gave me what I thought were vitamins but
they were pills to abort the baby. I had to go to the hospital because I got
sick from the pills.
-------------------------
ghfan
is it true that you're in a band or something? i thought i read that somewhere.
Kim McCullough:
No, I am not in a band. I'm a terrible singer!
-------------------------
Roseberry
You've been acting more or less your entire life. Has there ever been a time
where you just felt burnt out?
Kim McCullough:
I guess that I kind of saved myself by leaving GH because what makes me feel
burnt out is doing the same thing. Acting is a great profession because you're
always experiencing different characters and environments so you never get too
burnt out. I've also known that I've always wanted to be a director and acting
is still the best way to learn how to run a set.
-------------------------
ghfan
i think i read that you directed an indie film. any plans to direct again? would
you ever cast your former Gh stars in a movie?
Kim McCullough:
Yes, I just completed my first short film and I will be having a screening in
the next few months. In the future, Amber and I are talking about developing
something together.
-------------------------
SoapSweetii Hey Kimberly,
Heres My Question::: Is there ever a time where you wish that you could go back
to General Hospital?? Or are you happy with where your career has gone??
~~Thanks~~
Kim McCullough:
I am very happy with where I'm at in my life.
-------------------------
mO
Dear Kimberly,
I loved watching you on Soap Talk with Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway. I feel like
i've gotten to know you by watching it. Your personality is soo wild and crazy
and it was hilarious when you showed Ty your dance moves. Have you ever thought
about doing any movies where you would have to show those talents??
Kim McCullough:
I would love to a movie where I get to dance, that would be awesome. I did one
on Lifetime called "Dying to Dance" and they show it about once a
month.
-------------------------
CoCo
Dear Kimberly,
You started on General Hospital at such a young age. Do you have advice
for young people on how to get into acting if you do not know where to start????
Kim McCullough:
Move to Los Angeles. Don't listen to any of those commercials on the radio for
those acting workshops. They tend to take advantage of young people.
-------------------------
Samantha
Do you have a certain exercise routine that keeps you so fit. Can you give tips
to the rest of us? THANKS! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!
Kim McCullough:
I drink a lot of water, I work out all the time - three times a week. I take
dance classes. It's hard to stay fit and anyone who says differently is lying!
Eating well, especially when you get older is really important. The best thing
you can do for yourself is never to eat fast food.
-------------------------
Abby
Dear Kimberly ,
How was it like to be the youngest actress to win a daytime emmy?? That must
have been quite an experience at the age of only 11. Thats soo amazing in my
mind!!!
Best Of Luck For You In The Future!!!
Kim McCullough:
It was pretty incredible. At the time I had no idea I was the youngest actress
to win a daytime Emmy. My mom found out later. I'm really honored by it but I
try not to take it too seriously.
-------------------------
Rebecca
Hi Kimberly,
My question is, where there people on GH that you always wanted to work with,
but never had the chance?
Kim McCullough:
Jane Elliot (Tracy) would be one of them. I really liked working with Tyler, I
didn't get to work with him much. It was sort of a tease. But other than that, I
pretty much got to work with most of the actors all the time. I was lucky that
way.
-------------------------
Pamela
Kim do you and Vanessa Marcil still keep in contact.
Kim McCullough:
Yes, we stay in touch. I just saw her at Amber's birthday party.
-------------------------
Erica
I simply CANNOT wait to see your scenes with Steve Burton tomorrow. You have no
idea how long us long-time GHers have been waiting for it. How was it for you?
Kim McCullough:
Don't be disappointed when you see it because it's only a thirty second scene!
The point of me being on this episode was to honor Anna Lee, not to rekindle
things with Jason.
-------------------------
Melissa
kimberly,
I was watching General Hospital yesterday when everyone found out about
Lila and i cried the whole time. When you found out about the passing of anna
lee what did you feel? Do you have any memories of Anna you can share?
Kim McCullough:
She would always remember my birthday and give me a beautiful gift every year.
She was always smiling. I don't think I ever saw her in a sour mood. She was
just a lovely person to be around.
-------------------------
Rebeccar
Having been in a storyline such as the AIDS one that really touches people's
lives, do you feel that soaps should go back to telling more socially conscious
storylines?
Kim McCullough:
Yes. I feel like soaps have felt pressure from reality television and have
therefore gone to more of a campy side of drama. It's disheartening because
soaps are the only forum where you can show somebody's life day in and day out.
I think they should bring up more issues that are going on in the world other
than who's baby belongs to who.
-------------------------
Lilian
Was it awkward to do love scenes? Thanks for answering my question! I love your
acting!
Kim McCullough:
It's always awkward to do love scenes. I think guys for the most part are
excited by them but women are mostly not. It's awkward because you're kissing
and touching someone you don't know that well and sometimes don't really want
to. Then you have people making sure your makeup and lighting is perfect. You
have to make sure you're covering yourself up while trying to look sexy at the
same time. They're some of the toughest scenes to do.
-------------------------
Erica
Kimberly PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE STAY ON GH.
Please do not go anywhere. You have NO idea how boring Jason is without you.
Your's and Steve's chemistry is smokin'. You have no idea how much WE have
missed you. Please come back! Have you even considered staying?
Kim McCullough:
I haven't been asked! It's really tough for me to sit back and let the fans
think it's me who is being stubborn but in truth I haven't been asked to come
back.
-------------------------
bill
How would you feel if the show ever decided to recast Robin?
Kim McCullough:
I'd feel bad about it but I'd understand that they had to do what they had to do
to move the story forward. But honestly I would feel sad.
-------------------------
Jasonzbabii
Kimberly,
Whats it like to go on the stones after General Hospital? I mean stones
is comedy and GH is drama. Is it hard to adapt to the new environment since you
left GH?
Kim McCullough:
I just finished a movie called "Inn Trouble." I don't know when it's
going to be out but it's an independent film.
-------------------------
Ashleigh
Was Steve Burton a good kisser?
Kim McCullough:
You can fantasize all you want!
-------------------------
Robinfan4ever
You are my favorite GH actress, whats your favorite GH storyline?
Kim McCullough:
The Asian quarter story from when I first came on. There was a lot of action. I
like it because every action movie I see now, I actually worked with a lot of
those Asian actors.
-------------------------
shenan
what have you been doing lately?
Kim McCullough:
I was away for a month to do that movie. Then I came home for a few days then
went to American Samoa to visit my brother. : )
-------------------------
carly c
kimberly,
who was you favorite char. on the show while you were on? and since you've been
gone has that changed. And who is your fav. actor on the show?
Kim McCullough:
Probably Sonny, and no that hasn't changed.
-------------------------
Ghnumber1fan
Kimberly,
I know you worked with Finola Hughes. Do you guys still keep in touch or do you
ever talk to her?
Kim McCullough:
Yes, I talk to her every once in a while.
-------------------------
GhlovinJaSon
Kimberly,
What was it like Kissing steve burton becuase i know hes a total hottie!! was it
wierd kissing one of your good friends??
Kim McCullough:
Imagine if you worked in an office and your boss told you to go kiss the man who
worked three cubicles down. That's what it felt like!
-------------------------
Jenn
First of let me just say, you are a terrific actress. Secondly, have you done
any other films? If so was it any different or harder than soap operas? Thanks
for your time! Sincerely, Jenn
Kim McCullough:
When I was little I did "Bugsy" and "Consenting Adults."
Then a couple of years ago I did "Legally Blonde." It's way, way, way,
way easier. You do two pages a day on a film, you do 60 pages a day on a soap.
-------------------------
Kim McCullough:
Thank you all so much for still being interested in my career. I miss the GH
fans a lot. I hope you'll watch me on "Joan of Arcadia" as well as our
other former GH-er Amber Tamblyn!
