 Their
first meeting was not that memorable: at Jagger’s boxing match, Stone sat
down next to Brenda, where Robin was planning to sit, and she was not happy
about it! But their second meeting went much better, and gradually, they began
to fall in love. Despite her Uncle Mac’s objections, Robin had finally found
a boy to love, that loved her in return, and she would not let anything stand
in their way. They made love and as soon as Robin went on the pill, they
stopped using condoms. Their relationship deepened as with Robin's help
Stone discovered he was dyslexic and learned to read. Tragedy struck
when Stone, who thought he had been suffering from the flu that wouldn't end,
was diagnosed with AIDS. Despite his terror over the idea of having
infected Robin and his feelings of unworthiness, Robin stood by him and would
not let anything sway her from helping him through his illness. When
Stone's condition was revealed to their friends and families, the young lovers
were touched at the outpouring of love and support. Even Robin's Uncle
Mac, who had never accepted Stone in his niece's life, came to support both
Stone and Robin. His eyesight almost gone and his health deteriorating
steadily, Stone was devastated when Robin, who had wrestled with whether or
not to tell him, revealed what he had feared most: she was HIV+. With
Robin's love, and support from people like Sonny, Lily, and Mac, Stone lived
his final days to the fullest, secure in the knowledge that he was loved and
valued. He made Sonny promise to take care of Robin for him, and, with
his last moment, miraculously saw Robin before he died.
