Some general fandom terms and definitions, not really shipper related.
"Fandom" is the name given for a world of fans of a particular show/book/movie/comic. "Fandom" encompasses every facet of the fan world, whether shippers or not. It's a general name, much like the name "Earth" is for all of us inhabitants, regardless of where our country origins lie.
A "fanzine" is a collection of fanfiction, fan artwork, poetry, columns, etc. put out by fans in the form of an amateur magazine. Usually between $15-30 (US) and non-profit (the cost of the zine goes to pay for publishing), it's how fans of a particular fandom would communicate and share their work before the internet. Fanzines have fallen by the wayside in the wake of the net, but they are still around and still being put out. I myself have a little treasure trove of 'zines in my closet right now! Also known as 'zines.
A "friendshipper" is basically a "relationshipper" only they "ship" characters as friends rather than as lovers. Friendshippers can focus on the friendship between a group of characters (such as Michael, Maria, Max, Liz, Kyle, Alex, and Isabel of "Roswell"), as well as the friendship between two characters (such as Robin and Brenda of "General Hospital"). more...before I was a "relationshipper," I was a friendshipper. My very first friend-ship was between Kirk and Spock in "Star Trek," way before I discovered the joys of romance. I love a good, strong friendship between two characters (although I have enjoyed group friend-ships, the intimate ones between two characters tend to be my favorites). A friend-ship story between two characters I can like can suck me in just as easily as a romance can, even more sometimes, cause these types of relationships fare better than romantic ones do on shows!
