Scene 1

(KATHY enters the bullpen, setting some boxes on DONNA'S desk, while DONNA calls out to JOSH, who is in his office.)

DONNA: Did they burn the hamburger?
KATHY: I told them well done.
DONNA: He likes it beyond well done, he likes it burnt.

(JOSH comes into the bullpen)

JOSH: Yea?
DONNA: Food's here.
JOSH: Did they burn my hampburger?
DONNA: Yes
JOSH: Did you check?
DONNA: I am not checking your food.
JOSH: Let's go.

(He starts to leave, leaving DONNA to pick up the food containers by herself)

DONNA: No, No, I'll carry it.
JOSH: I like it where if you dropped it on the floor it would break.
DONNA: What's "take out the trash day?"
JOSH: Friday.
DONNA: I mean, what is is?
JOSH: Any stories we have to give the press that we're not wild about, we give it to them in a lump on Friday.
DONNA: Why do it in a lump?
JOSH: Instead of one at a time?
DONNA: I'd think you'd want to spread them out.
JOSH: They've got 'x' column inches to fill right?
DONNA: Yes.
JOSH: ...and they're going to gill them no matter what...
DONNA: yes
JOSH: So if we give them one story that's 'x' column inches.
DONNA: You give them 5 stories...
JOSH: That's fifth the size.
DONNA: Why do you do it on a Friday?
JOSH: Cause no one reads the paper on Saturday.
DONNA: You guys are real populists, aren't you?

(JOSH takes his sandwich from DONNA'S box)

JOSH: Salad's for CJ.

SCENE 2

(DONNA, MARGARET, KATHY, CAROL, and GINGER are standing around MARGARET'S desk, talking in worried tones)

DONNA: First of all, you don't know that for sure.
KATHY: She just said...
MARGARET: Guys...
KATHY: She just said she knew that for sure.
DONNA: She said she knew it in her heart, which is very different than somebody saying...
GINGER: I know it for sure.
KATHY: She just said it.
CAROL: Someone needs to tell their boss.

MRS LANDINGHAM (who has just arrived): Excuse me.
MARGARET: Good evening, Mrs. Landingham.
MRS L.: What are you girls doing?
MARGARET: We're just...talking, Mrs. Landingham.
MRS L.: You all work for very important people, this is not a place for gossip.  You understand me?
MARGARET: Yes, Ma'am.

(Everyone else replies in the affirmitive, except for DONNA, and MRS LANDINGHAM leaves)

MARGARET: Donna!
DONNA: She said she knew it in her heart, do you know how many things I've been wrong about in my heart?
KATHY: Yea, but she's right about this one, aren't you?

(GINGER nods)

JOSH (who has just arrived on the scene): Well...(everyone turns to see him)...here's a group of federal employees.

(KATHY nods to DONNA, who follows after JOSH)

DONNA: Can I talk to you?
JOSH: Sure.
DONNA: In Sam's office.
JOSH: Well, we need to ask Sam, don't ya think?
DONNA: I need Sam too.

(Just then SAM  passes by)

JOSH: Sam.
SAM: Yes, sir.
JOSH: Donna needs to talk to us and it doesn't look good.

SCENE 3

(SAM is walking towards his office, DONNA and JOSH following him)

DONNA: This VP advance man with the gold clubs and the helicopter.
SAM: Chad Magrudian?
DONNA: Yes.
JOSH: Didn't he used to work for us?
SAM: Kept screwing up.
JOSH: How?
SAM: He advanced the Puerto Rico trip and spent half a day scuba diving which was nowhere on the President's itinerary.  He advanced the NY trip and got impossible tickets to something President had no intention of seeing.
JOSH: He's working for Hoynes now?
DONNA: Yea, just recently.
SAM: Played 18 holes at Pebble Beach.
DONNA: Which is, technically, what he's supposed to do.
SAM: He wasn't supposed to take a Navy helicopter and make it wait.
JOSH (asking Donna): Well, what does this have to do with us? 
DONNA: We know who leaked the story.

(JOSH looks at SAM, who looks back, then closes the door to SAM'S office)
